Qian Fei woke from a vivid dream about her busy workdays under Director Fang Yun, startled by her ringing phone. Dang Yu explained that the human resources department had been trying to reach Qian Fei, eventually contacting Dang Yu instead to deliver the good news of her reinstatement. Thrilled but cautious, Qian Fei rushed to the Hejing Securities office to hear it directly from Fang Yun.
Fang welcomed her back, praising her report for successfully uncovering Shanlifang's complex financial irregularities using concrete data. However, Fang Yun instructed her to keep completely quiet about the client's issues, explaining that under a division of responsibilities agreement, Zhizhong would officially raise the problems, with Li Yifei handling the confrontation. For now, Qian Fei was assigned to start from the bottom, running everyday errands for the team.
Upon returning to her desk, Qian Fei was warmly welcomed by her former colleagues. However, a recently transferred coworker bitterly accused her of backstabbing to steal the position, warning others to be wary of her, which left Qian Fei bewildered. Meanwhile, Liao Shiyu bought high-end golf gloves from abroad and had Wang Ruohai present them to her father, Liao Jinshan, for his birthday.
Knowing the gift was not truly Ruohai's idea, Jinshan took him aside and sternly warned him not to play false with his daughter, threatening severe consequences if he ever mistreated her. Highly anxious, Ruohai was later reassured by Shiyu on the drive home, as she mentioned that her father trusting him with Shanlifang's massive IPO project was a clear sign of his confidence.
When Li Yifei returned to the apartment, he found Qian Fei cleaning and mopping with unusual intensity, showing no excitement about her return to work. Qian Fei blamed him for always playing the hero, warning that exposing Shanlifang's financial issues alone would deeply offend the client. Li Yifei dismissed her concerns, claiming that with greater capability comes greater responsibility. Later, delivery workers arrived to replace Li Yifei's old bed with a larger one.
When a furious Qian Fei confronted him, Li Yifei quickly claimed she had agreed to the replacement while drunk, recalling her previous complaints that the old bed reminded her of failed marriage dreams. Although Qian Fei initially went along with it, she later realized she had been tricked, noting that as a financially savvy person, she would have negotiated the depreciation value of the old furniture first.
Seeking an opportunity, Jun Cheng visited Dang Yu at her workplace and pestered her to set up a group dinner with Qian Fei, suggesting that he and Li Yifei tag along. Believing Jun Cheng had a crush on Qian Fei, Dang Yu readily agreed. To celebrate her reinstatement, Qian Fei prepared a feast at home to share with Dang Yu. Since their friend Jingjing was away on a team-building trip with her boyfriend, Qian Fei video called her.
After the call, Jingjing felt deeply anxious, as she already knew that Wang Ruohai had been appointed as Shanlifang's finance director, meaning Qian Fei would inevitably run into her ex at work. Though her boyfriend urged her to warn Qian Fei, Jingjing struggled with how to break the news. Later that evening, Li Yifei returned home and happily finished the leftovers Qian Fei made.
When Jun Cheng later chatted with Li Yifei, he observed how comfortably Li Yifei lived with his landlady and suspected he had fallen for Qian Fei, though Li Yifei quickly denied it. The next day, Dang Yu visited the apartment to help Qian Fei pick an outfit, making fun of her outdated wardrobe and insisting she wear a nice puff-sleeved dress.
When Li Yifei saw Qian Fei dressed up, he mocked her appearance, comparing her to a walking turkey and teasing her for rushing to find another guy so soon after a breakup. Angered, Qian Fei assumed Li Yifei was the one who had set up the date to play mind games with her, and she angrily kicked him out of her room.
Li Yifei quickly clarified that Jun Cheng had organized the dinner and swore he had no romantic interest in her. Qian Fei was equally relieved, stating she had no time or energy for romance. To put the awkwardness behind them, the two stayed up drinking and playing games. Qian Fei eventually drank until she passed out. As Li Yifei carried her back to her bedroom, she sleepily wrapped her arms tightly around his neck.
Gazing at her face from so close, Li Yifei felt his heart flutter. Terrified that he was actually falling for her, he called Jun Cheng in the middle of the night to frantically confess his feelings. The next day, the four of them met for lunch. While waiting, Dang Yu played a game on her phone. Jun Cheng leaned over and noticed her username was "Po Ming."
Realizing she was the popular gaming streamer he idolized, Jun Cheng lost all composure, grabbing her hand and loudly confessing his endless admiration in the crowded restaurant. Embarrassed by the scene, Dang Yu slipped away to the restroom to escape, but Jun Cheng chased her to the parking lot, reciting a dramatic speech of devotion and begging to drive her to her side job.
Left alone at the table, Qian Fei suggested to Li Yifei that since they were now working on the same project, it was no longer appropriate for a single man and a single woman to live together. Li Yifei argued that cohabitation was common and accused her of kicking him out right after he helped her get reinstated.
When Qian Fei reminded him of his promise to move out once his finances improved, Li Yifei pulled out his phone to show her his empty bank accounts. Baffled by his lack of savings despite his high salary, Qian Fei offered to teach him how to save money, starting the lesson immediately by calling the waiter over to pack up their leftovers.
