During her trip to refund a wedding banquet deposit, Qian Fei suffered from severe period pain. Fortunately, she ran into Li Yifei, who helped her into a taxi. He was surprisingly attentive, buying her a heat pack and advising her to drink water slowly. Qian Fei admitted the pain was likely worsened by her recent stress. Upon arriving at their building, they found the elevator broken.
With no other choice, Yifei helped carry her things and walked her up the stairs. Their relief was short-lived when they opened the door to find the apartment flooded because Gui Lili had left a bathroom faucet running. Together, they frantically swept the water toward the drain. When Lili returned, oblivious to the mess, Yifei confronted her angrily about her carelessness. Offended by his public outburst, Lili stormed out.
A remorseful Yifei promised Qian Fei he would compensate her for the damaged flooring once he had the money. At work, Hejing Securities and Zhizhong Jiantou were negotiating a joint sponsorship project for Shanlifang Hotel Group, following the arrest of Yifei's superior, Huang Shusong. Yifei attended the meeting as the joint sponsor's team leader.
Qian Fei’s jealous colleague, Xinyao, tried to make her look bad during a break by causing a coffee spill, but Yifei blocked it with his own suit jacket. Later, Qian Fei's friend Jingjing warned her to keep her cohabitation with Yifei a strict secret to avoid allegations of leaking trade secrets, also hinting at upcoming layoffs in the backend department. She then went to the mall to return her unused wedding ring. There, she spotted Gui Lili intimately walking with a wealthy client named Mr. Niu, whom Lili coyly addressed as "Dong Ge." Niu promised to use his connections to get Lili into Milan Fashion Week. Seeing this, Qian Fei couldn't help but pity the clueless Yifei. That evening, Qian Fei offered to let Yifei split dinner meals with her for a fee.
Yifei playfully suspected an administrative trap and jokingly ordered luxury dishes like sea cucumber and lobster, prompting her to tell him to just order takeout. Later, Qian Fei received a video call from her father pressing her about wedding plans. As she scrambled to make excuses, Yifei overheard the conversation and advised her to tell her parents the truth about her breakup instead of dragging it out.
The next day, Qian Fei’s fears came to pass when HR laid her off due to company-wide backend department cuts. Despite her excellent performance, she was forced to pack up her belongings and leave, feeling like a complete joke after losing both her relationship and her job. Seeing her leave, Jingjing worried about how she would pay her mortgage, but Qian Fei remained hopeful, relying on her severance pay and her new roommate's rent.
Soon after, Yifei's colleague showed him a compromising video of Yifei dropping Qian Fei off in a red sports car. The colleague also revealed that Qian Fei was the blogger behind the "Back End Little Flying Elephant" Weibo account that had exposed Huang Shusong, suggesting that Director Fang Yun had set Qian Fei up to take the heat.
Realizing his father, Li Qiansheng (Chairman of Qiansheng Group), had secret-filmed the video to pressure him into returning to the family electronics business, Yifei confronted him. He flatly refused his father's offer, criticizing Qiansheng Group's reliance on licensed technology as a fatal weakness. Later, Gui Lili met Qian Fei to ask her to deliver a breakup message to Yifei and retrieve her passport, explaining she was going to Milan and felt nothing for him anymore.
When Qian Fei conveyed the breakup, Yifei scoffed, noting he was always the one making sacrifices. Gui Lili also forwarded the sports car video to Qian Fei. When Qian Fei questioned Yifei about it, he demanded she delete it. A struggle for the phone ensued, and Qian Fei accidentally tumbled into Yifei's arms. After a tense, awkward moment, they quickly pulled apart. The next morning, Gui Lili called Qian Fei, asking her to quietly bring her luggage downstairs.
To prevent Yifei from catching his ex-girlfriend leaving, Qian Fei intercepted him as he woke up. She coaxed him into staying in his room by volunteering to cook him breakfast, and a touched Yifei happily agreed to go back to sleep.
