Li Yifei, a sharp investment professional from Zhizhong Construction Investment, steps out of a sleek red sports car, intensely demanding over the phone that his assistant secure a meeting with a vital investor. Meanwhile, the city's crowded subway is packed with morning commuters.
Among them is Qian Fei, a diligent back-office analyst at Hejing Securities who rushes from the train to a bus to ensure she makes it to her office on time. Unlike her career-driven peers, Qian Fei prioritizes her personal life, believing a happy home is far more important than climbing the corporate ladder. Today is her boyfriend Wang Ruohai’s birthday.
During her lunch break, she visits a department store to purchase an expensive designer suit for him, viewing it as an investment in his professional image. Afterward, she meets her friend at a local noodle shop. At a nearby table, Li Yifei is pitching a project to a potential investor, Mr. Ma, hoping to raise twenty million.
However, the meeting goes poorly, and a frustrated Li Yifei accidentally makes a loud disturbance, drawing awkward stares from other diners, including Qian Fei. That afternoon, Qian Fei receives the keys to her newly completed apartment—a property her parents helped secure with their savings. She is filled with joy, dreaming of the stable life she and Ruohai will build together. Meanwhile, Hejing Securities prepares to submit their IPO bid for the Shanlifang Hotel Group before the 2:00 PM deadline.
Director Fang urgently drafts Qian Fei to assist, revealing that Shanlifang's chairman, Liao Jinshan, specifically requested her. It turns out Qian Fei is "Jumbo," the brilliant analyst who exposed the financial discrepancies of Huang Shusong—a key manager at Hejing's rival firm, Zhizhong Construction Investment—leading to his recent arrest. At the bidding venue, Hejing's team attempts to block Zhizhong's entry to ensure their rival's disqualification. Amidst the chaos, Li Yifei rushes in to submit Zhizhong's proposal at the very last second.
In his haste, he collides with Qian Fei, knocking her phone to the ground. Instead of apologizing, Li Yifei accuses her of stalking him since the morning noodle shop encounter before disappearing into the crowd, leaving Qian Fei thoroughly annoyed. He meets with Liao Shiyu, the wealthy daughter of Shanlifang's chairman, who has harbored deep feelings for him since he saved her in their youth. When Qian Fei mentions she booked their wedding venue after his mother hinted at an impending proposal, Ruohai reacts defensively, feeling suffocated by the pressure.
