Love a Lifetime Episode 32 Recap
> Love a Lifetime Recap
Having returned to Dragon Howl City with a changed perspective after Zi Yan's funeral, Rong Hua immediately began to assert her presence. She visited the Hall of Life, now under Mei Ying's control, to assess the situation. There, she encountered Dongqing, a senior disciple loyal to Mei Ying, who disrespectfully challenged her presence, stating that no one but the disciples of the Hall of Life could enter without Master Mei's permission.
Xiaoxiao, who was by Rong Hua's side and was soon to be the master of the Hall of Sickness, reprimanded Dongqing for his impudence. Rong Hua calmly told Dongqing to mind his duties as a disciple, pointing out several medicinal herbs misplaced in the pharmacy, a subtle critique of Mei Ying's management. Later, as Rong Hua was having tea, Xiaoxiao expressed her anxiety about the upcoming four halls meeting, where Rong Hua had no official place.
She explained the current power dynamics: Mei Ying had consolidated his control over the Hall of Life and the Hall of Seniority, while Rong Su diligently guarded the Hall of Emptiness, preventing Mei Ying from gaining any foothold. The Hall of Sickness remained secure under Xiaoxiao's stewardship due to Zi Yan's dying wishes.
Rong Hua, acknowledging her father's current distrust, decided to disrupt Mei Ying's power base by starting with the Hall of Seniority, aiming to cut off his source of new recruits and eventually reclaim the Hall of Life. That same night, Rong Hua and Xiaoxiao followed Mei Ying as he secretly entered Zi Yan's former room. After he left, they found Zi Yan's personal medicine box, containing various antidotes, had been disturbed.
Since Xiaoxiao couldn't identify which specific antidotes Mei Ying had tampered with, Rong Hua instructed her to replace all of them. Meanwhile, Rong Su discussed Rong Hua's return with Xuan Ye. Xuan Ye worried that Rong Hua might threaten Rong Su's position as the city master's successor. Rong Su dismissed his concerns, revealing her intention for Rong Hua to join in eliminating Mei Ying.
She reasoned that Rong Hua's past act of marrying Nalan Yue at Lingxu Pavilion made her disloyal in Rong Jingfeng's eyes, thus preventing her from ever truly leading Dragon Howl City. Xuan Ye praised Rong Su's strategic mind, contrasting it with Rong Hua's perceived emotional entanglements. Rong Su, however, was visibly affected by the mention of emotional attachment, hinting at her own suppressed feelings. The next day, Rong Jingfeng convened a meeting of the four hall masters.
Bai Weizhi announced plans to recruit more disciples to strengthen Dragon Howl City, emphasizing that all must pledge loyalty to the city and its master, forbidding any private power-building or factionalism. Rong Su reported her extensive preparations for defense against the Ling Sect, including strengthening city fortifications, increasing food supplies, doubling the number of outposts in Tingfeng Town, and deploying elite Hall of Emptiness disciples to Jiangnan and Northern Wastelands to gather intelligence for an attack strategy.
Rong Hua then entered the meeting hall to report on Zi Yan's funeral arrangements. Mei Ying publicly chastised her for bringing domestic affairs into a formal meeting. Bai Weizhi came to Rong Hua's defense, and Rong Hua seized the opportunity.
She formally requested to participate in the campaign against the Ling Sect to avenge Zi Yan, and boldly declared her intention to openly compete with Mei Ying for the mastership of the Hall of Life, invoking Dragon Howl City's tradition of valuing talent.
Rong Jingfeng, already hesitant, was further swayed when a disciple reported the unexpected arrival of representatives from Black Rock Mountain, the Snow Union, and other major martial arts sects, all explicitly stating they had come to meet "Hall of Life Master Rong Hua." Inside, Wang Zhiyuan and Liuli openly thanked Rong Hua for her past medical aid to Wang Zhiyuan's master, offering their support if she ever needed assistance.
Mei Ying tried to assert his authority as the current Hall of Life master, but Wang Zhiyuan immediately rebuked him, mocking his inability to protect his own ancestral home and questioning his medical skills, implying he had gained his position through dishonest means. The other representatives echoed Wang Zhiyuan's sentiment, further undermining Mei Ying's credibility. Later, Rong Jingfeng acknowledged Rong Hua's achievements during her absence, noting her positive impact on the martial arts world.
Rong Hua, expressing regret for her past immaturity, reaffirmed her commitment to protecting Dragon Howl City, asserting that the Hall of Life's true purpose was healing. To solidify his trust, Rong Jingfeng demanded that Rong Hua swear an oath before Zi Yan's shrine to sever all ties with Nalan Yue and to find Zi Yan's true killer. Rong Hua knelt and swore solemnly to avenge her aunt.
Meanwhile, Liuli provocatively intercepted Xuan Ye, expressing her fondness for Rong Hua and demanding that Xuan Ye show her around the city. Despite Xuan Ye's initial reluctance and warnings about city rules, Liuli clung to him, insisting that her presence would reflect poorly on Dragon Howl City if he didn't accommodate her. Xuan Ye, though verbally resistant, eventually conceded to her demands, his body seemingly complying even as his words protested.
Elsewhere, Guan Buzhu informed Mo Huan about Nalan Yue's recent actions in Dragon Howl City. Mo Huan understood that Nalan Yue's aggressive move was a necessary outlet for his pent-up anger, a step to realize that solo revenge was impossible, and ultimately, a way for him to settle his mind for deeper cultivation.
Mo Huan was particularly pleased that Nalan Yue had remained silent about Zi Yan's death, indicating a new maturity in concealing his thoughts and tempering his impulsive nature. Nalan Yue, now back at the Ling Sect, was progressing to the second stage of the Xuanbing Skill. The deputy master in the Tang School, still harboring resentment, attempted to poison Nalan Yue's drinking water, believing him to be vulnerable during his cultivation.
Nalan Yue, however, had already reached 20% mastery of the skill. He neutralized the secret poison of the Tang Sect and then, using the queen worm within him, manipulated the offspring worms to turn the deputy master into his first Xuanbing. Mo Huan, observing this, was satisfied with Nalan Yue's progress but cautioned him against haste, emphasizing the importance of precise control over the poisonous worms to truly unlock the skill's full potential.
Lu Yizhou, arriving shortly after, expressed his delight at Nalan Yue's breakthrough and offered to test the newly created Xuanbing. Back in Dragon Howl City, with Rong Jingfeng's tacit approval, Rong Hua freely moved about. She initiated a renovation of her courtyard, ordering the cutting down of several plum trees. Dongqing, upon seeing this, was enraged, trying to stop the workers and confronting Rong Hua about destroying trees Mei Ying had carefully tended.
Rong Hua, however, stood firm, reminding Dongqing that the property belonged to Dragon Howl City and that, with her father indisposed, she was in charge. She even threatened to use the plum tree branches as firewood for the kitchen, further infuriating Dongqing, who stomped off to complain to Mei Ying. Concurrently, Jingyuan, a resourceful and intelligent individual, joined the Hall of Seniority as a new disciple.
Noticing his capabilities, Bai Weizhi, knowing Rong Hua was in need of trustworthy staff, sent Jingyuan and another disciple to assist her. Mei Ying, still reeling from his humiliation and suspicions regarding the Lingxu Pavilion incident, confronted Yun at the Hall of Sickness, roughly grabbing her by the neck. He demanded to know who had instructed her to swap the powerful knockout drugs for an ineffective substance prior to his departure to Lingxu Pavilion, implying her involvement in the ambush.
Yun, undaunted and aware of Mei Ying's lack of concrete evidence, defiantly accused him of baseless slander, asserting that only the city master had the authority to judge such a matter. As Mei Ying, losing his temper, was about to resort to violence, Jingyuan suddenly appeared. Citing Dragon Howl City's strict rules against inter-hall interference and unprovoked aggression, Jingyuan coolly warned Mei Ying, forcing him to release Yun and leave in a huff. After Mei Ying's departure, Jingyuan turned to Yun, engaging her in a mysterious conversation about Mo Huan of Northern Wastelands.
