Love a Lifetime Episode 26 Recap
> Love a Lifetime Recaps
Bai Weizhi, having been rebuffed and beaten by his master, found temporary lodging at an inn. The establishment bustled with various figures, including Rong Su, Xuan Ye, Lu Yizhou, Lin Jing, Liuli (acting as Lin Jing's messenger), and Jingyuan, who was tasked with protecting Rong Hua. Liuli met with Rong Hua, informing her that Rong Su and her disciples had appeared in the vicinity shortly after Bai Weizhi left Dragon Howl City.
Liuli suspected they intended to threaten Bai Su to force Bai Weizhi's appearance. Sharing a common enemy, Liuli offered her assistance, and Rong Hua tasked her with spreading important news. In the same inn, Liuli questioned Lin Jing about his plans regarding the Dragon Howl City members. Lin Jing sternly told her it was none of her concern and warned her against delaying their journey to the Northern Wastelands.
Later, Lu Yizhou questioned Lin Jing's harshness towards Liuli, an important member of the Snow Union, and probed if he still harbored feelings for Rong Hua. Lin Jing admitted he still cared for Rong Hua but reaffirmed his unwavering decision to proceed to the Northern Wastelands. He instructed Lu Yizhou to ensure Cang Qi and their allies exercised restraint, cautioning against rash actions that could alert their enemies, even though revenge was close at hand.
Lin Jing vowed to make Rong Jingfeng pay for Lingxu Pavilion's destruction, bit by bit, reflecting on his new identity as Na Lanyue, burdened by two generations of grievances and unfulfilled love. That night, contemplating his long journey to the Northern Wastelands and the uncertain prospect of reunion, Lin Jing entered Rong Hua's room. He found her asleep, murmuring his name "Yue" in what seemed like a troubled dream.
Lin Jing yearned to wake her and confess his feelings but hesitated, stopping his hand before it touched her face, overwhelmed by unspoken emotions. He quietly withdrew, leaving just as Rong Hua stirred awake. She saw only his familiar retreating silhouette and, desperate, pursued him through the bustling streets. Her search ended in disappointment, unaware that Lin Jing was watching her sorrowful departure from a hidden corner, his heart aching.
Cang Qi was sent to meet Mei Xueman in the town, where they observed Dragon Howl City operatives. Mei Xueman was updated on their situation and agreed to undertake a task before joining their group on the journey to the Northern Wastelands. Mei Xueman later met with Bai Weizhi, warning him about the increased presence of Dragon Howl City personnel in town, whom she believed were targeting him.
To prevent Bai Su from being endangered, Mei Xueman suggested they separate and advised Bai Weizhi to go to Blackrock Mountain to protect his master. She claimed she would find refuge with her late father’s friends. Bai Weizhi, though concerned for her safety, reluctantly agreed and bid her farewell, urging her to take care of herself. Rong Hua, accompanied by Jingyuan, approached Bai Su's retreat.
She informed him that, anticipating a threat from Dragon Howl City, she had arranged for his two top disciples, Wang Qingzheng and Wang Zhiyuan, to protect him, claiming they had already fended off assassins. She also expressed concern for Bai Su's "stubborn illness" and their desire for him to recuperate. Jingyuan then created a diversion, feigning burning down Bai Su's residence, which prompted Bai Su to grudgingly invite them in, remarking on Rong Hua's boldness.
Meanwhile, Rong Su led Dragon Howl City disciples up the mountain. After a significant delay with no reports back, she grew suspicious. As she and Xuan Ye prepared for a confrontation, they were met by Wang Qingzheng and Wang Zhiyuan, who quickly demonstrated their superior martial prowess. Just then, Bai Weizhi arrived. He sternly warned Rong Su to deliver a message to Rong Jingfeng: if he continued his relentless pursuit, they would become enemies.
Bai Weizhi also clarified that his senior brothers had merely subdued Rong Su's disciples, not killed them, and demanded that Dragon Howl City cease its intrusion. Rong Su, understanding she was outmatched, apologized and, seeing that Bai Weizhi would not return, requested the Hall of Seniority token. Bai Weizhi returned the token, reiterating his warning against any future trespassers. Wang Qingzheng and Wang Zhiyuan physically escorted Bai Weizhi to Bai Su’s abode.
Bai Su, sensing their "worldly" presence, immediately wished them gone, expressing his disdain for such company. Rong Hua attempted to take Bai Su's pulse, but he declared his strict diet of only morning dew and vegetables from his own garden. Upon seeing Rong Hua with Bai Weizhi, Bai Su angrily reiterated that he had expelled Bai Weizhi from the sect and would not welcome him, especially having heard that Bai Weizhi had taken another master.
He banished them all from his retreat, threatening severe consequences if they dared to return. Cang Qi, Mei Xueman, and Na Lanyue's group continued their journey to the Northern Wastelands. Mei Xueman inquired about Lin Ruohan, but Na Lanyue remained somber and urged them to hasten their pace, causing Mei Xueman a pang of guilt. As they neared the Ling Sect's stronghold, a disciple informed them that Supreme Master Mo Huan had anticipated their arrival.
He then arrogantly demanded they disarm, perform three kneelings and nine kowtows before entering to meet Mo Huan, mocking them as "underdogs." Infuriated, Na Lanyue immediately killed the disrespectful disciple and instructed the others to inform Mo Huan of his arrival. Upon hearing the news of the killed disciple, Guan Buzhu was shocked, but Mo Huan remained unfazed. She dismissed Guan Buzhu's concern, stating that the current Na Lanyue was no longer the naive young master of Lingxu Pavilion.
She ordered her disciples not to provoke Na Lanyue's group and to accommodate them without question, threatening severe punishment for any disobedience. Confined within the Ling Sect stronghold, Lu Yizhou grew impatient, questioning Mo Huan's intentions and Lin Jing's calm demeanor. Lin Jing, however, advised patience, calling their situation "adversity" that required them to be "flexible and calm" to avoid Mo Huan's traps.
He understood Mo Huan was trying to wear them down and resolved to wait her out, confident she wouldn't keep him if he were useless to her. During a private conversation, Lin Jing, acknowledging their deep friendship, confided in Lu Yizhou. He asked him to look after Rong Hua if anything unexpected were to happen to him and he couldn't return.
Lu Yizhou, though initially joking about his own marital prospects, ultimately promised his unwavering support, assuring Lin Jing that he would be fine with him by his side. Lin Jing, still suffering from the backlash of the Chihua Pill, was forced to confront his choice to become stronger and more ruthless. Mo Huan, aware of his struggle, believed only he could save himself by mastering the Command to the Dark Soldiers Skill. Rong Hua prepared a feast for Bai Weizhi.
Seeing her sadness, Bai Weizhi became emotional, regretting not having been with her on her wedding day. Rong Hua shared her enduring trauma from Lingxu Pavilion's destruction, a memory she vowed never to erase. Bai Weizhi, echoing her sentiments, condemned Rong Jingfeng's cruelty and Rong Su's ruthlessness, warning Rong Hua against acting rashly. However, Rong Hua, having learned a harsh lesson from her family's betrayal, firmly stated that she would show no mercy to her enemies.
She knelt before Bai Weizhi, pleading for his help to avenge Lingxu Pavilion. Overwhelmed by her resolve and his own perilous situation (having fled Dragon Howl City for her), Bai Weizhi agreed to assist her. Rong Hua’s plan was to leverage Bai Su’s influence to rally support against Dragon Howl City, but first, she needed an introduction to his two senior disciples.
Rong Hua and Jingyuan had spent days collecting dew from Blackrock Mountain to investigate Bai Su’s persistent stomach illness but found no anomalies. Jingyuan grew impatient, questioning her approach. Rong Hua patiently explained her strategy: Bai Su's reclusive nature made trust difficult, but she believed she had a way.
Jingyuan then shared the intelligence he had gathered: Bai Su, despite having many disciples, only regularly interacted with the Wang brothers, Wang Qingzheng (a respected armed escort agency owner) and Wang Zhiyuan (a humble but influential ferryman who commanded vast intelligence networks, even for the Snow Union). Both Rong Hua and Jingyuan recognized Bai Su's formidable, yet untapped, power and lamented his lack of ambition, which left him detached from the martial arts world's affairs.
Rong Hua realized the problem lay with the vegetables Bai Su grew himself. Bai Weizhi then brought his two senior brothers, Wang Qingzheng and Wang Zhiyuan, to meet Rong Hua by a lake. They initially refused Rong Hua's respectful address, citing Bai Weizhi's expulsion from the sect. Rong Hua playfully noted Bai Weizhi's bruised face, causing him to complain about his lifelong bullying by his brothers.
The senior brothers were hesitant to get involved, as they were meeting Rong Hua in secret, risking Bai Su's wrath. Rong Hua presented her findings on the dew and explained her theory about the vegetables. Despite their skepticism about their master's own-grown produce being the cause, the Wang brothers agreed to secretly supply Rong Hua with vegetables for testing, strictly on the condition that Bai Su must never know of their involvement.
After an argument and a light scuffle, they departed. Rong Hua later asked Bai Weizhi about his past conflict with his brothers, but he dismissed it as "old times" and hurried off, eager for breakfast. After trying various samples, Bai Weizhi complained about endless "foretasting" for Bai Su's illness. Rong Hua confirmed that the vegetables she tested had no issues, leading her to conclude that Bai Su's stomach ailment was not related to his diet's ingredients.
She pondered how such a regular diet could cause the illness. Bai Weizhi, however, was simply relieved to be done with the tasting, fearing he might develop a stomach ailment himself. He later explained to Rong Hua that his sleepiness was due to overeating local snacks from open stalls late at night.
