Li Lan thought the hotel was too expensive and asked Fang Zhijing to find a cheaper place. He took her to a remote suburb. That night, seeing that instant noodles in the room were too expensive, Li Lan went out to a supermarket. On the way back, she received a call from Li Xun. As she picked it up, the groceries in her hand fell to the ground. A car came by and hit her, killing her.

Gao Jianhong told Zhu Yun the news, and Zhu Yun ran out frantically. After burying his sister, Li Xun was devastated. Gao Jianhong cursed Fang Zhijing repeatedly, blaming him for everything. While going through Li Lan’s belongings, Li Xun saw that all the birthday gifts he had given her were well preserved. Although the driver had confessed, the law couldn’t hold Fang Zhijing responsible. Li Xun was heartbroken and cried in Zhu Yun’s arms.

On the way back, it began to snow. Li Xun asked Zhu Yun about her dream. She said her dream was to end up with her first love—Li Xun knew she was talking about him. He held her and told her that those who betray their love should go to hell. Zhu Yun thought this was the beginning of happiness, but didn’t expect it to be the end.

The next day, after paying tribute to Li Lan, Li Xun asked Zhu Yun to transfer her shares to him. Zhu Yun agreed without asking a thing. Li Xun said he wanted to meet her parents and seek their approval. Zhu Yun, afraid he would be embarrassed, suggested they wait. Li Xun insisted that he needed to take responsibility for the future. Zhu Yun informed her parents that Li Xun would be coming.

While her parents were preparing dinner, Li Xun waited for Xu Lina at the base and tried to convince Gao Jianhong not to leave. Fang Shumiao saw him talking to Xu Lina and called Zhu Yun. Li Xun came to Zhu Yun’s house and looked through the window, recalling the day he came in the rain. Zhu Guangyi asked to speak with him alone.

He said Zhu Yun was their only daughter and hoped to get Liu Ailin’s blessing—otherwise, it would hurt both Zhu Yun and their family. Liu Ailin had re-enrolled Zhu Yun for postgraduate recommendation, but Zhu Yun firmly refused to leave. She wanted to stay and help with Li Xun’s new company. Liu Ailin believed Zhu Yun would regret this choice years later.

Zhu Guangyi also asked Li Xun to go abroad with Zhu Yun for a change of environment and offered to cover all expenses. He admitted it was a bit abrupt and acknowledged that Li Xun’s company was doing well, but the road ahead wouldn’t be smooth. He hoped Zhu Yun would consider it carefully, as being with her meant making sacrifices.

At dinner, Li Xun reassured her parents that he would take care of Zhu Yun and ensure her happiness, but he refused to go abroad. Zhu Guangyi and Liu Ailin believed that if he insisted on staying, he was putting Zhu Yun in a difficult position between both sides. Li Xun proposed that since doing business requires connections, and now that he and Zhu Yun had just started, they could work together.

He knew Zhu Guangyi was in the medical device business, and they could benefit each other. Liu Ailin believed even more that Li Xun had thoroughly investigated their family and held a grudge against her. She accused him of being greedy and selfish, saying no matter how good he did in college entrance exams, he would still end up a failure. Zhu Guangyi drove him out. Li Xun sarcastically said the couple was shortsighted and would never see the future. As he left, Zhu Yun chased after him but couldn’t find him anywhere.
