Hello, My Shining Lover Episode 29 Recap
> Hello, My Shining Lover Recap
Song Zihao, having fully understood Tong Tong's manipulative nature through their recent interactions, grew weary of being used as her pawn and decided he would no longer tolerate it. Meanwhile, Du Guruonan and Ji Mo had a video call, expressing their longing for each other. Ji Mo confided that he had just finished part of his work and felt something was missing, which he realized was her.
They both confessed to missing each other before ending the call with well wishes for the evening. On his way home, Ji Mo caught a glimpse of a woman resembling Su Xiao, but she vanished just as quickly.
Convinced it was a hallucination and that his past symptoms had returned, he called Ai Li, distressed, saying he saw Su Xiao and believed she was dead, even though he had dreamed of saying goodbye to her and felt he had moved on and was happy with Du Guruonan. Ai Li explained that hallucinations often stem from subjective emotions and unresolved guilt about the past, particularly when triggered by a new, happy relationship.
Ji Mo, fearing he might hurt Du Guruonan and committed to loving her with a "whole, healthy heart," asked Ai Li for medication. Ai Li reiterated that medicine only manages symptoms and advised Ji Mo to minimize contact with Du Guruonan for a while to stabilize his emotional state for the sake of their relationship. In the days that followed, Ji Mo started coming home late and leaving early, always citing work as an excuse.
Du Guruonan, sensing his distance, texted him asking when he'd be back. Ji Mo replied that he was working overtime and would be home very late, telling her not to wait up. Du Guruonan, though worried, expressed understanding and urged him to take care. One morning, after waiting up for Ji Mo and falling asleep on the sofa, Du Guruonan woke to find him finally home.
He apologized without giving a clear reason, and she reassured him that she understood his busy schedule. Later, she noticed a medicine bottle on Ji Mo's bedside table. Curious, she took a photo and sent it to Chen Fei'er, asking her to inquire with Ai Li about the medication. Chen Fei'er visited Ai Li, showing him the photo. Ai Li, flustered, lied and said it was a "tonic for a very important part."
Chen Fei'er playfully teased him, hinting it was a love tonic for couples, to which Ai Li humorously denied needing. This exchange also highlighted their ongoing but undefined relationship, which Chen Fei'er considered an "observation period." They briefly sparred words about their strength, with Chen Fei'er challenging him to a workout to compare. Chen Fei'er then called Du Guruonan, relaying Ai Li's fabricated explanation about it being a "strengthening tonic."
Misinterpreting this, Chen Fei'er suggested Ji Mo was preparing for their "fiery passionate night" and advised Du Guruonan to seize the moment. Du Guruonan, connecting this to Ji Mo's earlier apology for being busy and promise to compensate her, seemed to understand. The next morning, Ai Li warned Ji Mo that Du Guruonan had found the medicine and he had covered for him, urging him to be discreet. Ji Mo's assistant informed him that Samantha had arrived for her interview.
When Ji Mo entered the meeting room, he saw Samantha, who then revealed her true identity as Su Xiao, his ex-girlfriend. Ji Mo was utterly stunned and in disbelief, insisting that Su Xiao was dead, recalling a flashback of him proposing to her and her breaking up with him. Su Xiao tried to explain that she had left three years ago to protect him from harm, but Ji Mo remained insistent that she was gone.
Overwhelmed, Ji Mo rushed to Ruiqi Group, ignoring his assistant's pleas, and burst into Zhao Yucheng's office. He confronted Zhao Yucheng, demanding to know if Su Xiao was alive. Zhao Yucheng confirmed it, and when Ji Mo angrily asked if he enjoyed watching him suffer, Zhao Yucheng again affirmed it.
Zhao Yucheng argued that Ji Mo's suffering paled in comparison to Su Xiao's, who had faced near-certain death from surgery abroad, and had only asked him to lie to spare Ji Mo more pain and despair. Ji Mo, now understanding, was then presented with an ultimatum by Zhao Yucheng: choose between Su Xiao and Du Guruonan. Ji Mo vehemently warned Zhao Yucheng not to involve or hurt Du Guruonan, stressing that his past had no bearing on their relationship.
Zhao Yucheng retaliated with a warning of his own: if Ji Mo were to hurt Su Xiao again, he would settle all old and new scores. Distraught, Ji Mo stumbled out, tormented by flashbacks of Su Xiao nearly being hit by a car, repeatedly apologizing for leaving her alone to suffer, though ultimately glad she was alive. This incident had a severe impact on Ji Mo, making him distracted afterwards.
Later that evening, Du Guruonan noticed Ji Mo seemed distracted and moody. He mentioned Sida's recent poor performance at work and his plan to talk to him. He asked Du Guruonan if Sida had confided in her. Du Guruonan revealed that Sida's troubles began when she and Ji Mo started dating. She then expressed that she would rather not know certain truths if they were to damage their relationship, suggesting some secrets are better left undisturbed.
Ji Mo responded that he was merely tired and trying to find answers to some problems, implying he had found them. The next day, Zhao Yucheng, seemingly recovering from his earlier emotional exchange, instructed his assistant to order 100 high-end Cantonese business meal sets for Du Guruonan's film crew and took them to the set. The crew members thanked Du Guruonan, thinking her "boyfriend" was treating them.
Du Guruonan, seeing Zhao Yucheng, thanked him for the food but stated their crew already had catering. She then directly informed him that she and Ji Mo were officially together and asked him to stop his grand gestures to avoid misunderstandings, especially with Ji Mo. Zhao Yucheng asked if she cared so much for Ji Mo, even if he might eventually hurt her. Du Guruonan dismissed his insinuation, asserting that such a day would never come.
Zhao Yucheng merely replied that no one could predict the future before leaving. Sida, who overheard their conversation, later confronted Zhao Yucheng, telling him to stop bothering Du Guruonan now that she had a boyfriend. Zhao Yucheng scoffed, pointing out Sida hadn't given up either.
Sida countered that at least he expressed his true feelings, unlike Zhao Yucheng, who lacked the courage to confess and was therefore destined to lose, a statement that struck a chord deep in Zhao Yucheng's heart. Meanwhile, Samantha met with Zhao Yucheng, her brother.
She mentioned that Ji Mo had changed, but expressed her belief that he still had feelings for her and that their relationship could be mended, despite him dating someone new, acknowledging she was the one who left him. Zhao Yucheng encouraged her to pursue what she wanted, promising his full support, and added that he also wished for Ji Mo and Du Guruonan to break up.
Samantha, realizing Zhao Yucheng also had feelings for Du Guruonan, expressed intrigue about the woman who had captured the hearts of both men she cared about. Later, in a parking lot, Samantha watched as Ji Mo and Du Guruonan embraced. Filled with jealousy, she deliberately backed her car into Du Guruonan's. Feigning surprise and apology, she offered to take Du Guruonan for a full check-up and handle the vehicle damage, promising to pay.
Du Guruonan declined the hospital visit but agreed to exchange contact information for the damage assessment, as she had work commitments. After exchanging WeChat, Samantha recognized Du Guruonan's name as familiar. She then revealed she used to live in the area with her ex-boyfriend and had returned to see him, accidentally running into him (Ji Mo) and then into Du Guruonan's car. Du Guruonan assured her she hadn't interrupted anything, as she and Ji Mo had plenty of time together.
During her design presentation at Wing Fashion, Samantha showcased concepts emphasizing feminine strength, using bright red and yellow tones, featuring a "wing motif" symbolizing "gentle armor" and "metamorphosis." She explicitly linked the wings to Wing Fashion itself, a company she had long dreamed of founding, and highlighted it as an "unfulfilled promise" with her "former lover."
While her designs garnered praise from others, Ji Mo abruptly entered, grabbing her arm and pulling her out to the rooftop, leaving his colleagues to gossip about their apparent history. On the rooftop, Samantha questioned Ji Mo's aggressive behavior. Ji Mo declared he would not hire her, stating her presence would severely disrupt his life, particularly his life with Du Guruonan. Samantha accurately inferred that his concern was for his current relationship.
Ji Mo challenged her return after her abrupt departure. Samantha asserted her right to pursue her dreams, stating she had defined the meaning of Wing Fashion and still had another dream. Ji Mo claimed he had forgotten. Samantha accused him of lying, reminding him of his disdain for dishonesty. Ji Mo confirmed his hatred for lies, specifically recalling how she and Zhao Yucheng had deceived him about her death.
He stated that all lies, whether well-intentioned or malicious, are still lies. Samantha clarified that she wasn't seeking his forgiveness but pursuing her dreams, noting that he had sought her designs, which essentially meant he sought her. She told him he had changed, and Ji Mo agreed, stating they both had, and he had let go of the past, urging them both to move forward.
Samantha concurred, declaring she was no longer the "Su Xiao from three years ago" but "designer Samantha." She reiterated that Wing Fashion was her dream, now their shared dream, and she simply wished to pursue it without disturbing his current life.
Flashbacks then showed a younger Su Xiao sharing her dream of creating a "Wings" clothing company, its logo a "W" resembling flying wings, and Ji Mo promising to be her wings and support her, and later confessing his dream to be with her forever. Back inside, Ji Mo's assistant asked if they should hire Samantha. Ji Mo firmly refused.
He clarified that while he didn't deny his initial intention to create Wing Fashion for Su Xiao, it was "Su Xiao's" dream, not "Samantha's". Upon learning of Ji Mo's rejection of his sister, Zhao Yucheng contacted Xiao Wu and instructed him to reach out to Wing Fashion's designers. He offered them high salaries and promised that Ruiqi Group would cover any penalty fees through his personal account, explicitly stating his aim was revenge against Ji Mo.
Meanwhile, Ji Mo was reviewing new design proposals, furiously criticizing them for recycling old concepts. He demanded a complete redesign. His assistant mentioned they were supposed to use Samantha's "Nirvana" collection, but Ji Mo reiterated his refusal to hire her. To Ji Mo's shock, his assistant then informed him that Samantha's onboarding press release had already been distributed online, showing him the news on his phone.
