With the Guanmei Hotel demolition delayed by a week, and the risk of Capital Intelligence withdrawing its investment, Xu Ziqian promised Zhang Minghan he would personally go to Guanmei to sign the contract and advance the Guanmei project. Taichu arrived at Qianyu’s home with a bouquet of flowers. Mama Jinzhi was impressed, thinking what a good son-in-law he would make. Inside, Qianyu and Tonghao were by the piano. However, Taichu clarified that he didn't send it, leaving Qianyu confused about who did. She then assumed it was some kind person wanting to give her a pleasant surprise.
Taichu offered to play, and when he played her mother’s favorite tune, Canon in D Major, Tonghao immediately recognized it. Taichu then played Chopin’s Fantasy-Impromptu in C-Sharp Minor, and Tonghao identified that too, surprising Qianyu with his musical knowledge. Just then, Mama Jinzhi called for Tonghao to deliver goods. He asked Qianyu to accompany him, claiming he didn’t know the way and she could be his navigator while enjoying a ride.
Although Qianyu's leg was injured, she insisted she could walk downstairs. Tonghao insisted on carrying her. Qianyu apologized to Taichu, promising to play the piano with him another day before leaving with Tonghao, who scooped her up and carried her downstairs. Mama Jinzhi watched them leave. Taichu, left behind, couldn't help but feel a sense of foreboding about Qianyu's choice between them. Later, Taichu reported his observations to the international travel agency.
He stated that after living in Guanmei Fishing Village for a while, he realized that beyond needing improvements, many cultural elements were worth preserving. He also mentioned that the story of the Chinese white dolphins might be true, and if confirmed, it could significantly impact their development plans. He promised to verify this as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Xu Ziqian and Fan Yunyi went to Guanmei Hotel to get Tang Shunming to sign the contract, but he staunchly refused, asserting his priority right to buy back the hotel shares mortgaged with Senwell. Qianyu quickly introduced Tonghao as her distant cousin to deflect suspicion. Tang Shunming, intrigued, later asked Qianyu about Tonghao. Qianyu explained how she found him and his amnesia. Shengzhe, noticing his distress, told him that Qianyu cared about Guanmei Hotel so much because it became her home after her mother died, the place where she grew up. Shengzhe used an analogy: just as Tonghao would be unwilling to give up Qianyu to Taichu, Qianyu was unwilling to give up Guanmei Hotel. This analogy enlightened Tonghao. The next morning, Mama Jinzhi called Qianyu and Shengzhe for breakfast, but Shengzhe exclaimed that Tonghao was missing.
Tonghao had gone to Guanmei Hotel early to initiate improvements. He gathered the staff and emphasized the importance of good service and a clean environment, stressing that appearance was fundamental respect for guests. He rallied them to save the hotel. When Qianyu arrived, the staff complained that Tonghao had woken them up early and made them do various tasks, questioning if he was helping or punishing them.
But after seeing the initial changes – the hotel looked brighter and different – they were surprised by the immediate impact of Tonghao’s minor adjustments. Qianyu asked Tonghao why he was helping when he had previously advocated for Senwell to manage it. Tonghao replied that it was her childhood home, filled with beautiful memories, and he wanted to protect it with her. Qianyu was deeply touched.
Tang Shunming also returned to the hotel and was astonished by the changes, and even more so that Tonghao was behind them. Tonghao began to explain his ideas for hotel renovation. Taichu, who was also there, joined the discussion, suggesting ideas. Both Tonghao and Taichu started using professional management terms like "total quality management," "user satisfaction survey system," "integrated business plan," and "market penetration index," much to the confusion of everyone present.
They debated whether to model Guanmei Hotel after a five-star hotel or a homestay, referencing examples like Antalya’s Citrus Garden Hotel and Jakarta’s Sunshine Seaviews, and even "West Meadow." The staff and Qianyu were amazed by Tonghao’s deep knowledge of hotel operations, despite his amnesia. Tang Shunming was deeply impressed by Tonghao's insights. Qianyu then asked Taichu why he, having traveled the world, would stay so long in their small Guanmei Hotel and help renovate it.
Taichu replied that it was "a place that deserves to be better." Tonghao later apologized to Qianyu for their previous argument, saying it had made him realize they should work hard for the people and things they care about.
