Upon Mo Yuan's awakening, he expressed a firm desire to return to Kunlun Void. Though Bai Qian was hesitant, not wanting her master to see the desolate state of the mountain after so many years, she knew the truth could not be hidden indefinitely. Thus, Zhe Yan, Bai Zhen, and Bai Qian accompanied Mo Yuan on his journey back.
As they approached the foot of Kunlun Mountain, a multitude of minor immortals were gathered, drawn by the vibrant spiritual energy emanating from the peak. Zhe Yan explained that Kunlun Mountain, a divine peak formed from a dragon bone, had sensed Mo Yuan's return and was excitedly welcoming him with its dragon energy, thereby attracting the various immortals. Mo Yuan listened quietly. To avoid disturbing the onlookers, the four concealed themselves and entered the mountain gates.
Bai Qian had assumed that after Mo Yuan's passing, all of Kunlun Void's disciples would have dispersed, leaving the place deserted. However, to her surprise, upon entering, they found her sixteen senior brothers, all dressed in Kunlun Void robes, standing solemnly in two rows along the stone path, as if they had been waiting for the entire seventy millennia. The Eldest Senior Brother stepped forward, kneeling before Mo Yuan with a trembling voice.
He explained that Zi Lan had sent word days ago about a surge in Kunlun Void's dragon energy and incessant bell ringing, prompting all the brothers to rush back overnight, believing it a good omen of their teacher's return. They later learned Mo Yuan had been recuperating his spirit in the West Sea and had anticipated a three-month recovery period. Now, seeing his divine aura, they had hurried to welcome him but missed him at the temple gates.
He concluded by saying Mo Yuan had been gone for 70,000 years and was finally back. The other fifteen senior brothers also wept with joy. Mo Yuan's eyes softened as he told them, "I kept you all waiting for a long time," then bid them to rise. Inside the grand hall, Zi Lan repeatedly apologized to Mo Yuan. He spoke of how, after Mo Yuan sacrificed his spirit to seal the Donghuang Bell, Seventeenth had also vanished.
Zi Lan only mentioned his failure to keep an eye on Seventeenth, omitting the details of Seventeenth's actions. He described how he had searched tirelessly for Seventeenth in both the mortal and immortal realms for years, with no success, fearing the worst. Zi Lan, feeling he had failed to protect his junior brother, requested punishment from his master. Bai Qian, who had been listening from behind a pillar, realized Zi Lan was carefully omitting details to protect her.
Her eyes reddened, and she could no longer hold back. Stepping forward, she declared, "I'm not fraught with grim possibilities, I am right here." She then knelt before Mo Yuan in the manner of a disciple, explaining to her senior brothers that she was Si Yin, their Seventeenth.
Zi Lan, overwhelmed with emotion, stepped closer, lamenting how he had searched for her for so many years, never suspecting his junior brother was a woman in disguise, which was why he couldn't find her. Bai Qian, laughing through her tears, playfully asked if her face truly looked so much like a man's. Bai Zhen chimed in, confirming she was indeed a woman.
It was then that the senior brothers realized their former junior brother, Si Yin, was none other than High Goddess Bai Qian of Green Hill. The Eldest Senior Brother admitted he had realized her identity when she arrived in female attire but chose not to expose her. Bai Qian, reaffirming her loyalty, declared that as long as she remained a Kunlun Void disciple, she would always be their Little Seventeenth.
Mo Yuan, observing Bai Qian among her disciples, felt a complex mix of emotions. With both Seventeenth and Mo Yuan now back, Kunlun Void, after 70,000 years of silence, was finally bustling with life once more. Zhe Yan then remarked to Bai Zhen that Ye Hua had not wasted his cultivation in helping Mo Yuan awaken so quickly, highlighting Ye Hua's affectionate nature.
Bai Qian added that since she and Ye Hua were to be married, the question of who owed whom didn't need to be so clearly defined between them. That evening, with the guest rooms at Kunlun Void overflowing, Zi Lan sought lodging in Si Yin’s room. After settling in, Zi Lan expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Bai Qian, acknowledging her immense hardship in caring for their master over the past 70,000 years.
Bai Qian chuckled, noting how Zi Lan typically provoked her and contradicted everything she said, and wondered if he was truly her Sixteenth Senior Brother. Zi Lan retorted that she deserved her single status after all these years, to which Bai Qian playfully responded that he, too, deserved not having found a wife. They shared a laugh, as if no time had passed between them.
Bai Qian reflected on the profound changes over the millennia, feeling that all her past sorrows had faded now that she could once again lie on the small bed in Kunlun Void, finally finding a sense of peace and long-lasting contentment. She found herself deeply missing Ye Hua and wished to share these feelings with him, but quickly reminded herself that Ye Hua was likely only a year old at this time and wouldn't understand.
She mused about what a one-year-old Ye Hua would look like, wondering if he resembled A'Li, before drifting off to sleep. In their conversation, Zi Lan also brought up Yan Zhi, the Winged Realm princess, whom Bai Qian remembered fondly.
Zi Lan mentioned meeting Yan Zhi a few times in the Mortal Realm while searching for Bai Qian, prompting Bai Qian to playfully tease him about being in love, a topic Zi Lan quickly sidestepped, claiming it was late and time to sleep. In the following days, news of Mo Yuan's return spread across the Four Seas and Eight Wildernesses, with every creature possessing even a hint of spiritual roots knowing that the ancient High God of War had awoken.
Bai Qian and Zi Lan were busy entertaining the numerous guests. Zi Lan recounted a popular rumor describing Mo Yuan's majestic return: wearing a purple crown and black armor, wielding the Xuanyuan Sword, and even carrying a "delicate, cute young lady" as he landed on Kunlun Void Mountain, causing the entire range to shake and animals to cry tears of joy. Bai Zhen playfully suggested that the "delicate, cute young lady" referred to Bai Qian.
Bai Qian, however, bristled at the word "delicate." Zi Lan then pressed Bai Qian about her age and whether she had children, asking when they would finally meet her husband. Bai Qian, laughing, announced that her wedding was in two months and invited them all to the celebration. Upon hearing this, Mo Yuan, who had been sitting on the dais, silently set down his teacup and left the hall.
Bai Qian, concerned, moved to follow him, but Zhe Yan gently stopped her, explaining that Mo Yuan, having just woken, needed rest. When Bai Qian worried about the remaining guests, Zhe Yan simply instructed her to direct them to the front hall for tea.
Zhe Yan then observed Bai Qian with a thoughtful gaze, remarking that while she excelled as an immortal, she was utterly clueless when it came to matters of romance, a sentiment Bai Qian herself admitted Bai Zhen had previously echoed. Zhe Yan and Bai Zhen exchanged knowing smiles, sighing at her continued obliviousness. Later that evening, Zhe Yan joined Mo Yuan in his room for drinks. Mo Yuan quietly asked why Seventeenth had secretly taken his divine body.
Zhe Yan paused, then with a rare seriousness, asked if Mo Yuan truly wanted to know, cautioning that the revelation might further complicate his feelings, making him uncertain whether his relationship with Bai Qian was that of a teacher and disciple or something more profound. Mo Yuan, after a moment, softly replied that he wished to know.
Zhe Yan then recounted the devastating scene at Ruoshui River when Mo Yuan's spirit shattered, where Seventeenth, consumed by grief, cradled his body and demanded that the Winged Tribe perish with him. He revealed that for 70,000 years, regardless of her own well-being, Bai Qian had diligently nourished Mo Yuan's true body with her heart's blood, even without knowing if he would ever truly awaken, her sole aim being to preserve his divine form from any damage.
Mo Yuan listened in silence, lost in deep thought for a long time after hearing the tale. Meanwhile, Fengjiu, believing Emperor Donghua was about to undergo a tribulation, was desperate to stay by his side. Despite Donghua's cold rebuffs and harsh words, Fengjiu refused to leave.
She had even tried to use fake injuries, taught to her by Cheng Yu, to elicit sympathy, but Donghua saw through her ploy, sternly telling her that their "debt" from the mortal realm was over and she should not cling to him, warning her that "when you are hesitant to cut off a relationship, you will only hurt yourself."
He emphasized his ancient existence, his past as a ruthless warrior, and that the person she loved was not the true him, stating that he, Emperor Donghua, the Shaoyang Monarch, was devoid of emotions and desires. Unbeknownst to Fengjiu, Si Ming would later clarify that Donghua was not, in fact, undergoing a tribulation, and being born from a rock, he was not so easily vulnerable to death.
Distraught, Fengjiu's father, High God Bai Yi, arrived at Tai Chen Palace to propose marriage to Donghua on her behalf. Fengjiu, hiding outside, was discovered by Donghua. Donghua then asked her if she knew why her father had come, and when she looked confused, he plainly told her that her father had begged him to marry her. Fengjiu was stunned, knowing her esteemed father had never begged anyone before.
She gazed at Donghua, questioning if even her father's plea wouldn't sway him. She wondered if he truly had no feelings for her, why he had visited that rundown hut in the mortal realm, implying he couldn't let her go. Donghua adamantly reiterated that their mortal realm experience was merely a tribulation. Mustering all her courage and pride, Fengjiu stepped forward and kissed Donghua, but he remained utterly impassive, without a single flicker of emotion, leaving her heartbroken.
Later, Donghua discussed with Si Ming the concept of fate, specifically what happens when the Three Lives Stone predestines a couple as unfated. The Donghuang Bell had been showing continuous signs of unrest. In the Winged Tribe, Qing Cang's former loyalists interpreted this as a sign of the old Winged Monarch's impending return, withdrawing their support for Li Jing and awaiting Qing Cang to punish Li Jing for his alliance with the Heavenly Tribe. Li Jing found himself isolated.
He entrusted his child to Yan Zhi, who pledged her unwavering support, promising to help him in whatever he decided to do. Li Jing feared that if Qing Cang escaped the Donghuang Bell, he would disregard the well-being of the Winged Realm's populace and unleash devastation upon the Four Seas and Eight Wildernesses to avenge his 70,000 years of imprisonment, leading to widespread suffering and destruction.
Determined to prevent this, Li Jing went to the Heavenly Palace to consult with Crown Prince Ye Hua, only to be informed that Ye Hua would not be in the palace for the next two months. A guard also mentioned the upcoming wedding between Crown Prince Ye Hua and High Goddess Bai Qian, which Li Jing acknowledged before departing. Back at Kunlun Void, Bai Qian was tidying the alchemy room when her Second Senior Brother struck up a conversation.
He revealed that even though Kunlun Void had been desolate for 70,000 years, the Pellet-Cultivating Furnace had never been idle. He then recounted how, one night, Crown Prince Ye Hua had arrived gravely injured, having lost an arm, yet still insisted on borrowing the furnace to refine a medicinal pill. He wondered why Ye Hua didn't use the furnace in the Nine Heavens.
Bai Qian’s heart ached as she realized that all of Ye Hua's pain, from the mythical mushrooms to his sacrificed cultivation, was endured for her sake, to help her repay her debt to Mo Yuan. Yet, Ye Hua had silently borne all these burdens alone, without uttering a single word to her, a thought that pierced Bai Qian's heart like a thousand needles.
