After dinner, Bai Qian and Ah Li were enjoying an outing in the street. Ah Li inadvertently wandered into a brothel and then into a customer's room, startling Bai Qian. She quickly retrieved him, and they agreed to keep this incident a secret from Ye Hua. As Bai Qian and Ah Li were on a bridge, a frivolous young man began to flirt with Bai Qian.
Just as she was about to use her magic to send him to a deserted mountain, a strong pair of hands embraced her from behind. Bai Qian looked up and smiled, recognizing Ye Hua and noting his timely arrival. With one arm around Bai Qian, Ye Hua stared coldly at the young man, remarking that he seemed to be having great fun teasing his wife.
Ah Li, with a solemn tone, added that it takes quite a talent to anger his Father Monarch. The young man, enraged, started to ask if they knew who he was, but before he could finish, Ye Hua swiftly banished him with a wave of his hand. Ye Hua then turned to Bai Qian, frowning that she hadn't tried to avoid the man's advances. Bai Qian casually dismissed it, saying he only touched her a little.
Ye Hua's expression changed, and he pulled her close for a kiss. Bai Qian froze, and after releasing her, Ye Hua calmly retorted, "It's also just being kissed a little." Bai Qian remained stunned for a moment, her face flushing. Later, they discovered all the inns in the small town were full, except for one vacant room.
Although Bai Qian was a high goddess respected throughout the Four Seas and Eight Wildernesses, she had limited romantic experience, and the thought of sharing a room with Ye Hua, even with Ah Li present, made her feel quite shy. As night fell, Bai Qian cuddled Ah Li to sleep, while Ye Hua watched over them. He reflected on Bai Qian's nature, marveling at how resolutely she had forgotten him.
He found himself conflicted, both hoping she would remember and fearing the pain it might bring. Suddenly, sounds of a struggle came from outside the window. Ye Hua swiftly flew out and found Jia Yun being attacked by a group of black-robed figures. Ye Hua intervened, driving the enemies away.
Jia Yun asked if they should pursue, but Ye Hua explained that they were not real people but puppets created by magic, and they would discuss the matter further after returning to the Heavenly Palace. Ye Hua departed for the Heavenly Palace to attend the Heavenly Monarch's birthday, leaving Bai Qian to return to Qing Qiu with Ah Li. Without Ye Hua, who was a skilled cook, Bai Qian and Mi Gu struggled with meals, relying mostly on loquats.
Ah Li frequently pulled at Bai Qian's robes, asking when his Father Monarch would return, as he missed Ye Hua's cooking. Bai Qian realized that, beyond love, Ye Hua's culinary skills were another thing she sorely missed. Meanwhile, Su Jin, determined to keep Ye Hua in the Heavenly Palace and away from Qing Qiu, devised a plan.
Knowing that Sang Ji would bring his eldest son, Yuan Zhen, to the Heavenly Monarch's birthday banquet, and that the Heavenly Monarch still harbored resentment towards Sang Ji's wife, Shao Xin, and consequently disliked Yuan Zhen, Su Jin decided to use this to her advantage.
Her scheme was to falsely accuse Yuan Zhen of molesting her, provoking the Heavenly Monarch's wrath and ensuring that Ye Hua would be compelled to stay in the Heavenly Palace for several days to address the matter. Su Jin approached Yuan Zhen, claiming the Heavenly Monarch was in Xi Wu Palace and she could lead him there. Yuan Zhen, unsuspecting, followed her to her bedchamber.
There, Su Jin used magic to drug him, forced a large amount of wine down his throat, and deliberately disarranged his clothes before placing him on her bed. She instructed her maid, Xin Nuo, to hang white silk from the beam and then cry out that she had been molested by the drunken young highness and intended to hang herself. Her screams quickly drew the Heavenly Monarch and other immortals. Yuan Zhen and Su Jin were found kneeling.
Su Jin feigned extreme distress, crying profusely and begging the Heavenly Monarch and Ye Hua to grant her death. Yuan Zhen, bewildered, could only stammer denials. Sang Ji knelt, pleading for his son's life, citing Yuan Zhen's youth. The Heavenly Monarch, however, was furious and ordered Yuan Zhen to be bound with immortal locks and banished to the Mortal Realm to endure 60 years of tribulation before being reinstated among the immortals.
After the crowd dispersed, Ye Hua confronted Su Jin, coldly reminding her that she had similarly framed Su Su in the past. Su Jin feigned ignorance. Ye Hua bluntly told her that he saw through her facade and revealed the true reasons he had spared her life: first, for the Soul-Gathering Lamp, and second, to use her eye sockets to nurture Su Su's eyes.
He warned her that if she continued with such schemes, he would show no mercy, adding that even if she died, he could find a new owner for Su Su's eyes. Su Jin, left speechless, watched as Ye Hua turned and left in disgust. Later, Lian Song questioned Ye Hua about why he hadn't brought Bai Qian to the Heavenly Palace. Ye Hua explained that she had completely forgotten him. Lian Song surmised it must be Zhe Yan's love-forgetting potion.
Ye Hua, however, decided to start over with her. He reflected that as Su Su, she had no good memories of the Heavenly Palace, so it was fine for her to forget. He was determined to make her fall in love with him anew, believing that this time, there would be no obstacles to their marriage. In the mortal realm, Feng Jiu lamented not having seen the mortal Emperor for nearly two years, wondering how she could repay his kindness.
Her maid mentioned rumors that the flower birthmark on her forehead was considered demonic, deterring the Emperor. Just then, the Emperor appeared in her bedchamber, looking forlorn. Feng Jiu learned that his beloved Noble Consort, after giving birth to Prince Yuan Zhen, suddenly declared her wish to become a nun.
The Emperor, unable to dissuade her, built her a Taoist temple where she devoted herself to cultivation, only returning on the first and fifteenth of each month to visit their son, but refusing to see the Emperor. This left him deeply troubled. Feng Jiu mused internally about how Si Ming had written such a difficult "love tribulation" for the Emperor, wondering if Si Ming feared no retribution once the Emperor returned to his true form.
The Emperor was captivated by Feng Jiu's phoenix flower birthmark, finding it strangely familiar. He confessed that this fascination was why he had avoided her for two years, fearing he would become obsessed. Feng Jiu found herself unable to utter sweet words. Frustrated at her inability to repay his kindness, she suddenly realized she could use the Two Lives Curse.
