While Ding Zhitong was running on the treadmill at the gym, the man who had nearly had an accident during a previous run showed up. Ding Zhitong seemed to have forgotten him, but the man took the initiative to strike up a conversation. Noticing that Ding Zhitong seemed troubled, he asked about it, and she admitted she was stuck in a dead end.

The man tried to reassure her, saying missing out on one or two projects wouldn’t be the end of the world, but Ding Zhitong was determined to secure this one. Pretending to be a fortune-teller, he told her that there would definitely be a turning point within five days. Ding Zhitong didn’t take it seriously, but promised that if it really happened, she’d treat him to a meal.

When Ding Zhitong arrived at work, she found that Vivian’s team had achieved great results and even shared their rewards with her team, though clearly to show off. Ding Zhitong didn’t take it to heart, but President Zhang came and told her that only by securing the Langteng project would she have a shot at becoming MD—otherwise, it might go to Vivian. When she woke up, he was already gone, and she briefly wondered if she had imagined the whole thing. The next day, Song Mingmei went to the restaurant to have congee and saw Qin Chang again, this time chatting with a female classmate who looked at him admiringly.

Song Mingmei took the initiative to greet him, but Qin Chang pretended not to remember her, so she had to introduce herself. Song Mingmei called Ding Zhitong and told her about running into Qin Chang. She didn’t want him to know she was divorced, fearing he’d think she was doing poorly. She even bought a big diamond ring to wear.

Now that she and Deng Baiting had moved on to dividing their assets, she hoped Ding Zhitong could help her come up with a plan. Song Mingmei stubbornly insisted she was married and even showed him a family photo of three. Qin Chang complimented her daughter’s looks but mocked her husband. Wu Xun had a bit too much to drink and sprained his ankle while running. He claimed the injury was caused by Langteng’s faulty shoes and data fraud. The situation started to snowball, and many people began returning their shoes.

After hearing about this, Ding Zhitong asked her team to keep following up—it might provide a breakthrough for the training box investment project. At the same time, the man who had met Ding Zhitong at the gym revealed himself—he was President Wang of the Wang Group, the person behind the incident. He escalated the situation to help Ding Zhitong secure the training box deal.

People from Shuchi approached President Wang to discuss a collaboration, but he turned them away—he was interested in Gan Yang’s capabilities. Ding Zhitong secretly met with minor shareholders of Langteng, proposed an investment, and successfully convinced several of them to sign confirmations. Coincidentally, she ran into Gan Yang and Xu Chenxi, who were meeting with a representative from a video platform. Xu Chenxi suspected that Ding Zhitong had orchestrated everything behind the scenes.

Ding Zhitong, annoyed, admitted it all and emphasized that she was determined to destroy Gan Yang’s dream. But Gan Yang wasn’t angry—he was just happy that she still remembered his dream. Privately, Ding Zhitong tried to help shift public opinion in the entertainment space. At the gym, she couldn’t help complaining—she shouldn’t have run into Gan Yang at a time like this. She was mad at herself for still being upset because of him. Coincidentally, Gan Yang overheard these mutterings.

Just then, Gan Yang got news that Wu Xun had been found. He rushed over to confront him and demanded a public clarification. Wu Xun, feeling guilty and overwhelmed by Gan Yang’s presence, had no choice but to agree. The Langteng issue was quickly resolved, just as Ding Zhitong had expected. She was relieved that she had already persuaded some minority shareholders to sign. Now, even if Gan Yang wanted to veto the deal, he would have to think twice.

That evening, Gan Yang was going to a hot pot restaurant with Wang Yi and happened to see Feng Sheng having dinner with Ding Zhitong. Feng Sheng had brought his fiancée to meet with Ding Zhitong, but the fiancée stepped out to take a call about wedding dresses. Seeing Ding Zhitong laughing and chatting with Feng Sheng made Gan Yang uncomfortable. He wanted to figure out what was going on, so he went in to ask.

But Ding Zhitong grabbed Feng Sheng’s arm on purpose to make Gan Yang believe they were married. Gan Yang, feeling he shouldn’t interfere in her life anymore, decided to back off. After returning home, Ding Zhitong remained in a low mood. She confessed her real feelings—she felt that rather than helping Gan Yang get funding, she had actually destroyed his matrix dream. But she didn’t want to hear Gan Yang’s explanations, fearing she’d soften.

She didn’t want to get hurt emotionally again. Song Mingmei, seeing her in pain, took it upon herself to confront Gan Yang. She lashed out at him for breaking up with Ding Zhitong in the past, causing her to become emaciated, sleepless, and dependent on sleeping pills. It had taken her a long time to recover, and now she was taking sleeping pills again because she ran into him.

This time, she had even refused his project because she remembered his dream, but had been forced into it by her superiors. Song Mingmei just hoped that Gan Yang could stay away from Ding Zhitong’s life—only without him could she truly live well. After Song Mingmei left, Gan Yang called his assistant and ordered a meeting with all the shareholders of the training box the next day.
