As Wen Suxi got into Tang Mao's car, she briefly stepped away to the restroom. Tang Mao used this moment to secretly text Jiang Yu, confirming You You had the hard drive and urging him to act quickly.
Meanwhile, You You, rushing to meet them, was spotted by Lin Haoshu, who noticed her urgency and told him not to wait for her and Wen Suxi for dinner. You You got into Jiang Yu's car, thinking he was there to pick her up on Wen Suxi's behalf, as Wen Suxi's phone was supposedly dead.
However, You You grew uneasy when Jiang Yu drove them out of the city towards the West Hill cold room film set and refused her request to stop, claiming they were almost there. While in Tang Mao's car, Wen Suxi received an email from Xiao Di. Xiao Di explained that Cai Shumeng had asked him to send Wen Suxi the hard drive, and enclosed a recording found in Cai Shumeng's cloud drive, detailing what happened before her death.
The recording revealed Tang Mao's sinister plans for Cai Shumeng and her desperate cries for help before her demise. Realizing Tang Mao was the mastermind, Wen Suxi confronted him. Tang Mao tried to explain, but Wen Suxi struggled against him, only to be subdued and knocked unconscious. Simultaneously, Chi Yu sensed something was wrong and tried to call Wen Suxi and You You, but both their phones were off.
He called Lin Haoshu, who told him You You had rushed out to find Tang Mao with something important. Lin Haoshu then called Tang Mao, asking about Wen Suxi, but Tang Mao lied, saying she had left. You You, feeling increasingly unsafe, found an opportunity to call Lin Haoshu, using code words to hint that she and Wen Suxi were heading to the West Hill farm house.
Lin Haoshu quickly pieced together the clues and informed Chi Yu that Wen Suxi and You You were likely at the West Hill film set. Tang Mao took the unconscious Wen Suxi to a church at the West Hill film set. When she woke up, she cried for help, but Tang Mao told her they were alone. He confessed that the hard drive contained evidence of his money laundering and market manipulation.
He explained that Cai Shumeng had discovered this and blackmailed him into marriage. He had planned to send her abroad after they were married and then break up with her once the scandal was suppressed. He claimed Cai Shumeng's death was an accident, that she "asked for it" by threatening him. Tang Mao then spoke of his past dream of marrying Wen Suxi in that very church.
He declared that falling in love with her was the only right thing he had ever done and gave her a choice: to return to him. Wen Suxi refused, telling him she wished she had never met him and reminded him they had agreed to be friends if not lovers.
Enraged by her unwavering loyalty to Chi Yu, Tang Mao revealed he had already given her sleeping pills and had planned to send her to the hospital if she complied, framing her overdose as stress-related. Since she didn't comply, he said he would have to force her, just as he had "that night," implying a past assault attempt. He declared that if not for Chi Yu, she would have been his.
As Wen Suxi lay helpless, Tang Mao turned on the church's powerful cold air system and left, intending to freeze her to death. While Wen Suxi lay freezing, drifting in and out of consciousness, she longed for Chi Yu, reminiscing about their happy memories and imagining a future with him: a wedding, a home, and children. She wished she could go back in time and never let go of his hand.
Just as she was about to succumb to the cold, Chi Yu burst into the church. Using the Pen of Constellation, he miraculously saved her and carried her out. Tang Mao, witnessing Chi Yu's inexplicable power, was terrified and immediately fled in his car. Outside the church, Chi Yu collapsed from exhaustion. Hua Yecheng appeared, confirming Chi Yu's five senses were now almost like a human's, and his energy was severely depleted.
He warned Chi Yu that he might not be able to help Wen Suxi through her next tribulation. Hua Yecheng then revealed that You You had fallen out of a car on her way to the West Hill, leaving her critically injured and in a coma. He delivered the crushing news: the ten years of life Chi Yu had traded to Youwu were You You's. Overwhelmed with guilt and shock, Chi Yu fainted.
Taking advantage of the moment, Hua Yecheng discreetly erased Wen Suxi's memories of the day's harrowing events. When Chi Yu woke up, he found himself in another location with Hua Yecheng, who reminded him of his weakened state. Chi Yu, determined to save You You, declared his intention to retrieve the ten years of life from Youwu, but Hua Yecheng questioned what he would use as an exchange. Meanwhile, Wen Suxi had been taken to the hospital.
Upon waking, she became frantic upon learning of You You's grave condition. Despite Lin Haoshu's attempts to calm her and help her remember, she could not recall anything after meeting Tang Mao. Blaming herself for You You's accident, Wen Suxi became distraught and fainted again. Later, as she cried in a hospital hallway, Chi Yu found her and tried to comfort her, assuring her that the past events were not her fault. As they held hands, Wen Suxi noticed an identical scar on the back of Chi Yu's hand, sparking a flicker of suspicion about his true identity.
