After breaking its seal, the Qilin appears in the Baihua Pavilion, in the room of a courtesan named Jing’er. It feigns tenderness before brutally killing her. Meanwhile, unable to sleep, Li Xuan and Changqing are both thinking about Su Youlian. However, Changqing is focused on the suspicious nature of Cui Pianran’s recent attempt to harm Su Youlian, noting she would have died without their intervention. As they talk, a dark shadow flashes past their window.
They give chase and are stunned to find the figure is Xiao Fengming. Displaying martial arts Li Xuan never knew he had, Xiao Fengming fights Changqing to a standstill, shatters a stone table with a single move, and flees. During the pursuit, a crimson entity emerges from Xiao Fengming's body as his eyes glow red. Instantly, his spiritual power and martial arts vanish, and he falls from the sky, landing directly in Princess Yunshan’s bath.
Enraged by the intrusion, Princess Yunshan calls Xiao Fengming a pervert and threatens to kill him. Xiao Fengming, backed by the newly arrived Li Xuan and Changqing, pleads that he was sleepwalking and has no memory of the event, a condition he's had since childhood. Li Xuan persuades a skeptical Yunshan to spare him for the night, promising she can execute him if his story doesn't check out.
The next day, after confirming Xiao Fengming does indeed suffer from somnambulism, Yunshan drops the matter but orders her attendant to monitor him. Li Xuan later tests a conscious Xiao Fengming and confirms he has no martial arts ability, leading him to suspect the powers only surface during his sleepwalking episodes.
With Qingtian City in chaos from the Qilin's rampage, the secluded Lord Zi decrees that Li Xuan, as the one who released it, must be responsible for its capture, viewing this as a necessary test for the prophesied Nation-protecting Master. In class, Mentor Xie conveys the Emperor's order: Moyun Academy must capture the Qilin in three days. When the terrifying task is assigned to Li Xuan, he protests, but Mentor Xie makes it clear he has no choice.
Seeing him cornered, Su Youlian is the first to volunteer to help, followed by a loyal Changqing and a hesitant Bian Lingcheng. Princess Yunshan and Xiao Fengming also offer their aid, with Xiao Fengming providing a chart for a formation powerful enough to contain the beast. To learn more about their target, Li Xuan and Su Youlian go in disguise to the Baihua Pavilion.
They arrive just after another murder, where a woman has been reduced to a pile of bones. After examining the victims' records with help from Bian Lingcheng, they discover the Qilin’s preference: it only targets full-figured women. With this knowledge, Li Xuan devises a plan. It requires luring the Qilin into the "Heaven and Earth Six-in-One Formation," which needs six participants. Li Xuan has Xiao Fengming, Bian Lingcheng, and Changqing hilariously disguise themselves as voluptuous women.
Refusing to let the girls join the dangerous formation, Li Xuan needs more people. When Long Wei’er and her attendant arrive to watch the spectacle, he immediately recruits them, completing the group of six alongside himself. That night, by the water, the six men dance provocatively as bait, watched from afar by Mentor Xie and the newly arrived Prince Yu Fengmu. The Qilin appears and is immediately drawn to Li Xuan.
He seizes the chance to maneuver the beast into the formation, and the six combine their power to trap it. The victory is short-lived. As Xiao Fengming admits his spiritual power is too weak to hold the ancient beast, the Qilin shatters the formation. Changqing urges a retreat, but Li Xuan refuses, insisting he must take responsibility. The Qilin launches a furious attack, targeting Princess Yunshan.
Without a second thought, Xiao Fengming throws himself in front of her, shielding her from the blow. As the disciples are about to be overwhelmed, Prince Yu Fengmu intervenes, saving Yunshan and Xiao Fengming and slashing the Qilin across the face. Enraged by the wound, the Qilin roars and transforms into its true, monstrous form, preparing to destroy them all.
