The Starlight staff, though not particularly flashy, was infused with natural righteousness and would not submit to anyone with evil intentions. Primarily a defensive artifact, Luo Yinfan chose it for Chong Zi due to her inborn evil breath, hoping it would help her cultivate self-control and kind thoughts rather than aggression. Chong Zi diligently trained with the staff daily and soon became proficient at flying with it, marveling at the vastness of Zizhu Peak from above.

Luo Yinfan, however, was determined that Chong Zi should also learn magical skills, despite the concerns of Sage Tianji Yu Du, who worried that such training might awaken her uncontrollable demonic nature. Luo Yinfan vowed to master the legendary Mirror Heart Skill himself, believing it would allow him to control her if she were to be tainted by evil breath while practicing magic, even though no one in the Immortal World had ever successfully mastered it.

Luo Yinfan was resolute, declaring that he must succeed where even his own master had failed, and would protect Chong Zi no matter what trouble she caused. In her gratitude, Chong Zi began baking various pastries for Luo Yinfan, including Jade Wheel Cakes styled after those from Xichun Restaurant. Though the cakes were far from delicious, Luo Yinfan ate them without complaint, valuing her sincerity. He playfully ate them even as Chong Zi tried to take them away.

Their days were filled with laughter and affectionate teasing, with Chong Zi also playfully chiding Luo Yinfan for falling asleep while they were supposed to be reading. He humorously remarked that her next culinary creation, "Overwhelming Cakes," sounded even more terrifying than the previous ones. During this time, the bond between master and disciple deepened, fostering feelings beyond their established roles.

Luo Yinfan learned that Gong Keran was held captive in Kunlun Sect, and Ni Lun's Sword remained with Wan Jie. He decided to go alone to retrieve the demon sword and confront Wan Jie about his transformation. Before his departure, Luo Yinfan imparted the Spirit Seal to Chong Zi, an ancient protection spell created by the heavenly gods to safeguard her soul in times of crisis.

As the silk scroll unfurled, Chong Zi recognized the protective seal left by Mr. Immortal. She questioned Luo Yinfan if Mr. Immortal, who had saved her, was among the 3,000 disciples killed during the demon sword's escort, and if Wan Jie was responsible. Luo Yinfan confirmed the rumors but emphasized that Wan Jie had never personally admitted it.

He warned Chong Zi against seeking revenge, reminding her of Zizhu Peak's third rule: hatred blinds the mind and can give rise to inner demons. Chong Zi promised to abide by the rule, urging her master to be careful. Luo Yinfan told her to wait for him to return. At Kunlun Sect, Luo Yinfan confronted Gong Keran, who stubbornly refused to disclose Wan Jie’s whereabouts.

The Lord of Kunlun was enraged, berating Gong Keran for protecting the very person who had massacred her family and disgraced the immortal sects. Gong Keran defiantly accused them of using her as bait to lure Wan Jie, asserting that while she could not prevent his descent into demonhood, she would not attempt to redeem him, criticizing some immortals as hypocrites. Luo Yinfan, subtly agreeing with Gong Keran's sentiment, advised the Lord of Kunlun not to press her further.

Suddenly, Wan Jie appeared, striking down many disciples, including the Lord, with a powerful poison. He ignored Luo Yinfan’s questions, swept Gong Keran into his arms, and fled. Luo Yinfan, identifying their direction, led the remaining immortals in pursuit towards Yingzhou. Meanwhile, on Nanhua Mountain, Yan Zhenzhu found a worried Chong Zi, who was missing Luo Yinfan.

Yan Zhenzhu, who was set to depart for Kunlun with Qin Ke's group under Senior Mu's supervision, suggested that Chong Zi join them to ease her longing. Chong Zi was hesitant, believing Qin Ke would never agree. Although Qin Ke initially refused, citing Chong Zi's fame and the potential repercussions, Chong Zi persisted, promising to take full responsibility.

Qin Ke eventually agreed to consult Senior Mu, who, recognizing Chong Zi’s determined nature and preferring to keep an eye on her, gave his permission but instructed Qin Ke to watch over her carefully and keep her presence concealed from Supervisor Sage Min Yunzhong. As the group traveled, they encountered Zhuo Hao and his two maids in a bustling market. Zhuo Hao immediately recognized Chong Zi, addressing her as "little lady" and making familiar advances.

Startled, Chong Zi quickly sought refuge behind Qin Ke, who intervened. Zhuo Hao's initial playful demeanor shifted to a more serious one upon seeing Qin Ke. Though their interactions were outwardly polite, a competitive tension simmered beneath the surface. Throughout their journey, Zhuo Hao persistently tried to charm Chong Zi, much to her annoyance, while Qin Ke consistently stepped in to defend her, a dynamic Yan Zhenzhu observed with amusement.

At their inn, Sima Miaoyuan was given a private room, while Chong Zi shared a room with Yan Zhenzhu. To prevent Zhuo Hao from bothering Chong Zi, Qin Ke insisted on sharing a room with him, much to Zhuo Hao's dismay. The next morning, when Yan Zhenzhu proposed a stroll with Chong Zi, Zhuo Hao swiftly joined them. Qin Ke, needing to shop for supplies with Sima Miaoyuan, suggested they all go together.

Both Qin Ke and Zhuo Hao vied for Chong Zi’s attention, offering her steamed buns and candied hawthorn. Chong Zi, however, ignored their gestures. Left with their rejected gifts, Zhuo Hao and Qin Ke ate the food themselves while praising the taste, which only fueled Sima Miaoyuan’s jealousy. Later, at a wonton stall, Chong Zi burned her mouth. Qin Ke quickly offered her cool tea, while Zhuo Hao fanned her.

Sima Miaoyuan, growing increasingly irritated, remarked that Zhuo Hao should choose a more "presentable" lady for his affections. Zhuo Hao promptly retorted that he found Chong Zi perfectly appealing, and Qin Ke added that the final decision rested with Chong Zi. When Sima Miaoyuan insulted Chong Zi's humble origins, Chong Zi retorted that her background was no worse than Sima Miaoyuan's former princess status, reminding her that earthly titles held no weight in the immortal sects.

Impressed, Zhuo Hao made a direct marriage proposal, offering her his magical skills and a life of travel and delicacies. Qin Ke countered, reminding him that immortal cultivators prioritize helping people over earthly pleasures. In the argument, however, Zhuo Hao inadvertently revealed that Qin Ke had brought Chong Zi along, prompting Sima Miaoyuan to realize Chong Zi was traveling without official sanction.

Sima Miaoyuan angrily confronted Chong Zi, accusing her of being selfish and implicating Qin Ke, who had already been punished once because of her. Chong Zi insisted she would bear the consequences alone, claiming she forced Qin Ke to take her. However, Sima Miaoyuan had already written a letter to Nanhua Mountain, informing the Supervisor Sage.

When Qin Ke found the letter, Sima Miaoyuan defended her actions, saying the truth couldn't be hidden and Qin Ke's leniency would only lead to more trouble. Chong Zi was distraught, fearing her master would be disappointed. Believing Sima Miaoyuan had ruined her chance to surprise Luo Yinfan, Chong Zi, in a fit of pique, snuck into Sima Miaoyuan's room that night and drew a turtle on her face as she slept.

The next morning, Sima Miaoyuan discovered the drawing and was furious, immediately suspecting Chong Zi. She demanded Chong Zi apologize and drew her sword. Zhuo Hao, stepping in to protect Chong Zi, declared that no one would bully his "little lady." Qin Ke also placed himself in front of Chong Zi, urging Sima Miaoyuan to calm down.

He told her to lead the other disciples to Senior Mu while he stayed to watch Chong Zi until the Supervisor Sage sent for her. Qin Ke then declared that no one was to mention the incident again.
