Blossoms in Adversity Episode 36 Recap
> Blossoms in Adversity Recap
Worried that something might go wrong, Gu Yanxi decided to disguise the captured individuals as cargo and transport them by boat to the capital for further interrogation. Zeng Ming was hunted down, and upon learning that his family had been silenced, he flew into a rage. He threatened that he had already handed over the account book to someone else for safekeeping—if he stayed alive, all would remain calm, but if he died, everything would go down in flames.
Fearing failure, the assassins pressed him to reveal the whereabouts of the account book. During the struggle, Zeng Ming was accidentally stabbed and killed. The assassins reported the incident to Jiang Zhengzhi. Upon hearing that Zeng Ming had left a backup plan, Jiang Zhengzhi ordered them to investigate everyone Zeng Ming had contact with after the Immortal Envoy incident, and to kill everyone he had met.
After confirming that it was Hua Zhi who had taken Zeng Ming’s wooden box, Jiang Zhengzhi ordered someone to kill Hua Zhi and make it look like an accident. Jiang's father told Jiang Zhengzhi that if the Immortal Envoy reached the capital and exposed him, the Jiang family would face complete annihilation.
He showed Jiang Zhengzhi a portrait of the officer from the Office of the Seventh Guard, and Jiang Zhengzhi immediately recognized him as the man Hua Rong had encountered on the street. Upon learning this, Jiang’s father planned to use Hua Rong as bait to eliminate Gu Yanxi. Jiang Zhengzhi refused at first, but with the family’s destruction imminent, he had no choice but to obey his father's will.
Jiang Zhengzhi told Hua Rong that Gu Yanxi was returning to the capital. Upon hearing this, Hua Rong wanted to see him off. Jiang Zhengzhi told her that the farewell gift was already prepared for her. Out of concern for Hua Rong, Jiang Zhengzhi ultimately decided to accompany her.
While Shen Qi and the Sixth Prince were strolling through the streets, they unexpectedly discovered Zeng Ming’s corpse and reported the news to Hua Zhi, who was on her way back to the inn. Upon hearing it, Hua Zhi immediately smashed open the wooden box Zeng Ming had given her and flipped through the account book inside. She asked Shen Qi to take the account book outside the city while she jumped off the carriage and rushed away.
On the road, Hua Rong was happily imagining life after giving birth. Jiang Zhengzhi, not wanting her to take risks, offered to deliver the gift to Gu Yanxi in her stead. Hua Rong suspected nothing. Hua Zhi went to the Jiang residence to find Hua Rong, and upon learning she had gone to the docks, rushed there immediately. Jiang Zhengzhi boarded the boat and handed the gift box to Gu Yanxi.
Noticing Jiang Zhengzhi’s strange expression, Gu Yanxi hesitated and didn’t immediately accept it. At that moment, Hua Zhi arrived just in time and called out to Gu Yanxi. Realizing the danger, Gu Yanxi was about to react, but it was too late. Jiang Zhengzhi opened the gift box, and the bomb inside exploded. The blast wave knocked Hua Zhi to the ground.
After getting back up, she rushed onto the boat in search of Gu Yanxi, but when she couldn’t find him, she jumped into the river. When Hua Rong returned to the residence and learned about the explosion at the dock, she tried to go back, but was stopped by Jiang’s father. He cursed Hua Rong and locked her in a room. When Hua Zhi woke up again, she saw Gu Yanxi standing in front of her.
She ran to him and hugged him tightly in tears. Hua Zhi told Gu Yanxi that she regretted it—she regretted parting from him. In this world, other than death, nothing else truly scared her anymore. Gu Yanxi led his men back to the district office and dismissed Governor Huang from his position. He then went to the Jiang residence and arrested Jiang Dacao. Under pressure, Jiang Dacao revealed that Hua Rong had been thrown into the mass grave.
Hua Rong had committed suicide with a hairpin. Hua Zhi washed her face while crying and accidentally found a farewell letter in her sleeve. In the letter, Hua Rong wrote that she was fortunate to have met Jiang Zhengzhi, who had treated her with genuine care. She couldn’t leave her child to the evil hands of Jiang Dacao, so she decided to follow Jiang Zhengzhi in death.
Governor Huang and Jiang Dacao were killed in prison, but the Immortal Envoy remained unharmed. Gu Yanxi arranged for Li Hou and the Seventh Guard soldiers to escort Hua Zhi by water, while he and Chen Qing took the Immortal Envoy by land.
