> Blossom in Heart Recap

Gu Haitang enters the western attic. She sees a turtle in a small fish tank and plays with it for a while, then curiously plucks some zither strings and notices a painting on a table. The masked man, who was watching her, accidentally makes a sound. Startled, Gu Haitang wants to investigate, but the masked man loudly stops her, claiming it's his territory and no one is allowed to enter. Gu Haitang reluctantly leaves.

She reflects in her room that the voice wasn't her father's, though she had thought her father was held in the Lang residence. Lang Yuexuan visits the western attic early in the morning, where he finds his older brother, Lang Yueming, who is the Lang family's eldest young master. Lang Yueming wears a mask because his face is disfigured. Lang Yueming tells Lang Yuexuan that Gu Haitang had visited, and it wasn't his first time seeing her.

He recounts that a few nights earlier, he had seen Lang Qingqing intentionally wear a white mask to scare Gu Haitang, whereupon he scolded Lang Qingqing and carried the fainted Gu Haitang onto a bed. Lang Yuexuan is surprised to learn Gu Haitang had visited. Lang Yuexuan proposes bringing Gu Haitang to the attic to chat with Lang Yueming, but Lang Yueming is very resistant, fearing his ugly appearance would scare her.

Lang Yuexuan advises Lang Yueming to step out of the darkness and try to interact with people. Lang Yueming admits he likes Gu Haitang and asks Lang Yuexuan to get closer to her on his behalf, and to convey his feelings. Lang Yuexuan is distressed because he also has feelings for Gu Haitang. Gu Haitang returns to the western attic, bringing a pot of rain lilies that she picked from the garden. She hopes to ask Lang Yueming some questions.

Lang Yueming, unusually, lets her in, deeply touched by the flowers, but he doesn't come out to see her. He refers to himself as a forgotten member of the Lang family who has lived there for thirteen years. Gu Haitang, unable to find news of her father, quickly leaves. Lang Yueming feels his life has suddenly been lit up and asks Lang Yuexuan to deliver a letter to Gu Haitang, instructing him not to reveal who sent it.

While Miao Lan complains to Lang Yuanyuan's memorial tablet about her miserable fate, Feng Chunyan, the Lang family's matriarch, walks in. Feng Chunyan overhears Miao Lan and, using the dusty altar and memorial tablet as an excuse, scolds her harshly. Miao Lan attempts to appease her, but every word she speaks further angers Feng Chunyan, resulting in further punishment and deepening Miao Lan's resentment.

Feng Chunyan then instructs Yingge to fetch incense ash and spring water for Miao Lan to soak her hands, to remove "karma." Lang Yuexuan waits for Gu Haitang on her way back to her room. Gu Haitang eagerly asks him about the true identity of the man in the attic. Lang Yuexuan evades the question, claiming it's just a study, then hands her Lang Yueming's letter without revealing the sender and leaves abruptly.

Gu Haitang opens the letter in her room, discovering a hidden-verse love poem whose first characters combine to spell "San Gu Haitang" (meaning "thrice visiting Haitang"). Recalling her encounters with Lang Yuexuan, Gu Haitang mistakenly believes he wrote it, causing her heart to race with excitement. Though she usually disliked Lang Yuexuan, considering him a playboy, she often thought of him.

Looking at the poem and reflecting on past events, Gu Haitang realizes she has developed feelings for Lang Yuexuan, but she deceives herself, afraid to admit it. Confused by her emotions, she places the letter in her dressing box. Gu Haitang uses many new styles when styling Feng Chunyan's hair.

Since Gu Haitang started, Feng Chunyan has slept particularly well at night and wakes up refreshed, leading her to highly praise Gu Haitang and tell her she can make any request. Gu Haitang seizes the opportunity to propose going home at night to care for her sick mother and younger brother, coming in the mornings to style Feng Chunyan's hair, and working/studying at the workshop in the afternoons.

Feng Chunyan readily agrees, stating that as long as it doesn't delay her work, she will agree to Gu Haitang's requests. Lang Yuexuan notices his mother's recent cheerfulness and suggests taking her out. He unintentionally learns that Gu Haitang comes to style hair in the mornings and works at the workshop in the afternoons. As Gu Haitang leaves, Lang Yueming watches her figure, unable to contain his sorrow, and starts drinking alone.

Lang Yuexuan goes to the attic to inform Lang Yueming, finding him in this state. Lang Yueming is troubled, facing the person he likes but afraid to meet her, retreating into the attic in self-pity, feeling like a frog in a well and believing Gu Haitang left because of him. Lang Yuexuan advises him to take a step forward and actively pursue her, but Lang Yueming cannot overcome his fear and cannot let go.

He still hopes Lang Yuexuan will interact with Gu Haitang on his behalf and relay the details to him. Lang Yuexuan's repeated explanations are futile. Gu Haitang returns to work at the workshop. Xin Qiao, out of jealousy, deliberately challenges her and makes sarcastic, malicious remarks, accusing her of "climbing high branches" by styling Feng Chunyan's hair. Lang Yuexuan overhears this and intervenes for Gu Haitang.

He intentionally praises Xin Qiao, calling her the most talented and deserving of important roles. He instructs her to wash all female workers' hair, write an assessment report, and then formulate hair oil suitable for each person's hair type. Gu Haitang tries to help Xin Qiao, but Lang Yuexuan doesn't appreciate it. Xin Qiao, publicly humiliated, dejectedly leaves. As Gu Haitang leaves work, she sees Lang Yuexuan at the doorway.

She reminds him not to help her in front of others to avoid misunderstandings. Lang Yuexuan tells her she can call him by his first name, but Gu Haitang replies that he shouldn't have written her the hidden-verse poem and they should maintain distance. Lang Yuexuan doesn't explain and quickly drives away. Fan Zhen immediately realizes Lang Yuexuan likes Gu Haitang, but Gu Haitang tells her not to spread rumors.

Gu Xiahe sees Gu Haitang return home and happily asks her many questions, also recounting his grievances with Lang Qingqing. Gu Xiahe asks about their father's whereabouts, but Gu Haitang still has no clue. While Gu Haitang is struggling to grind flower petals into powder, Lang Yuexuan, noticing her incorrect posture, walks over and teaches her hand-by-hand. The female workers curiously watch them, making Gu Haitang feel embarrassed, and she immediately pulls her hand away, so Lang Yuexuan stops.

Later, Gu Haitang is ordered by Master Shang to get flower dew from the warehouse (or fetching spices from the raw materials room). She unexpectedly encounters Lang Yuexuan again, who stops her from leaving and approaches her closer. At this moment, Long Mohua sees everything from outside.
