Lang Yuexuan finds himself hesitant to act against Shi Jizhou, who holds Lang Sinian and two others (Lang Yueming and Feng Chunyan) hostage. Gu Haitang and Long Mohua arrive with soldiers. Lang Yuexuan publicly exposes Shi Jizhou for killing his biological mother, Yan Zhi, and also informs him that Shi Diwen was killed. Shi Jizhou dismisses the accusation, boastfully claiming that Deputy Officer Hu has surrounded Kunyang City.
Long Mohua, however, reveals that Deputy Officer Hu has been suppressed and is dead, which shocks Shi Jizhou. Shi Jizhou then insists he deeply loved Yan Zhi and blames Feng Chunyan for ruining their good life. Lang Yuexuan recalls witnessing Shi Jizhou kill his injured mother, Yan Zhi, after Yan Zhi was left by Lang Sinian's wife. Feng Chunyan, realizing the truth, understands that Shi Jizhou was indeed Yan Zhi's murderer, forcing Shi Jizhou to admit his crime.
Exposed, Shi Jizhou struggles and attempts to take Lang Sinian hostage, but Lang Yueming bravely intervenes to protect his father and is taken hostage instead. Feng Chunyan faints upon seeing Lang Yueming captured. Shi Jizhou takes Lang Yueming to the pier. Lang Yueming asserts that he is the least important member of the Lang family, but Shi Jizhou calls him foolish, stating that he is in fact the most important.
Lang Yuexuan, aware of Lang Yueming's past actions, protects him by remaining silent. Lang Yuexuan and Gu Haitang pursue them to the pier. Lang Yuexuan offers himself in exchange for Lang Yueming, but Shi Jizhou refuses, threatening to kill Lang Yueming. Gu Haitang then offers the last page of the Furong Paste formula in exchange. Shi Jizhou, disbelieving, blurts out that he killed Gu Shunqi when no such secret formula existed, thereby inadvertently confessing to murdering Gu Haitang's father.
Lang Yuexuan remembers the past. After witnessing Shi Jizhou kill his mother, Yan Zhi, he hid in a cabinet. From there, he saw Shi Jizhou argue with Gu Shunqi, hit him with a vase, and then stab him. When Shi Jizhou left, Lang Yuexuan rescued the injured Gu Shunqi. As they fled, Shi Jizhou pursued them relentlessly.
Gu Shunqi entrusted Lang Yuexuan with a jade pendant containing the last page of the secret formula, asking him to deliver it to his daughter, Gu Haitang. They separated to escape, but Gu Shunqi was killed by Shi Jizhou. Lang Yuexuan, during his escape, fell into a pond and lost his memory. Shi Jizhou demands that Gu Haitang personally hand over the formula. As Gu Haitang slowly approaches him, hidden soldiers, including a sniper, open fire, striking Shi Jizhou.
Lang Yuexuan immediately attends to Lang Yueming. However, Shi Jizhou, though wounded, is not dead. He struggles to his feet and aims his gun at Lang Yuexuan. Gu Haitang, seeing this, bravely rushes forward and pushes Lang Yuexuan out of the way. The soldiers shoot Shi Jizhou again, killing him. Gu Haitang, having hit a stone step during the struggle, suffers a severe head injury and falls unconscious.
Doctors examine Gu Haitang, diagnosing her with a severe brain injury and a deep coma. They offer little hope, stating that current medical knowledge offers no known cases of recovery from such a state and makes it difficult to treat. Lang Yuexuan refuses to accept this, insists on taking Gu Haitang home, and vows to awaken her at any cost, believing she can still perceive the outside world even in an unconscious state.
Lang Sinian, having learned the full truth of the past events, apologizes to Feng Chunyan for his weakness in believing Shi Jizhou and harming everyone. Feng Chunyan, in turn, apologizes for indirectly causing Yan Zhi's death. They acknowledge that twenty years of living together have made them a family, and Lang Sinian promises to make amends to Lang Yueming and Lang Yuexuan.
Lang Yueming, reflecting on his past "obsession" that delayed Lang Yuexuan and Gu Haitang's happiness, decides to quietly leave Kunyang for further studies abroad, promising to bring new technology back to Lang Li Chun. Long Mohua sees him off at the pier, also expressing regret for her long-held obsession and deciding to let go. She resolves to follow her father's footsteps and strive for self-improvement for Gu Haitang's return. They bid farewell.
For a year, Lang Yuexuan brings the comatose Gu Haitang to the glass house in Haitang Garden. He cares for her meticulously, recounting their past stories, accompanying her in the sun, and sharing his daily experiences. Lang Li Chun's business prospers during this time. While Lang Yuexuan supervises the workshop, Gu Xiahe and Lang Qingqing take turns caring for Gu Haitang. Upon returning, Lang Yuexuan tirelessly recounts the story of their meeting and falling in love.
While Lang Yuexuan is tending to flowers and plants in Haitang Garden, he returns to the room and finds Gu Haitang missing from her bed. Panicked, he discovers her standing in the garden, struggling to hold onto a railing but smiling as she admires the scenery. However, she does not recognize Lang Yuexuan, only remembering it's her Haitang Garden and expressing a desire to go home.
Lang Yuexuan patiently tells her a story of lovers, which is their own story, and expresses that she can leave but must eventually return to him. Gu Haitang does not leave. Instead, she takes a few steps, then turns around to tightly embrace Lang Yuexuan, thanking him for his constant companionship. She tells him she heard everything he had said to her over the past year and that she knew everything he had done. Gu Haitang expresses her love, promising never to leave him again and that they will never be separated. They embrace affectionately.
