Shi Jizhou, realizing he was tricked by Gu Haitang and unable to produce the Furong Paste order, searches for her while trying to conceal his failure. Boss Hu appears with Lang Yuexuan, revealing Lang Yuexuan is the true owner of the order, setting Shi Jizhou up. Lang Yuexuan, knowing Shi Jizhou cannot fulfill the order, demands 20 gold bars in liquidated damages according to the contract, or he will take the matter to court.
Meanwhile, Gu Haitang wakes up to find herself kidnapped and tied up in Lang Yueming's room. Lang Yueming, furious that she won't be with him, confronts her. Lang Yuexuan arrives to rescue Gu Haitang. Lang Yueming then threatens Gu Haitang's life, presenting Lang Yuexuan with two bottles—one containing water and the other sulfuric acid—and forces him to choose one to pour on his own face. Lang Yuexuan agrees to the condition in exchange for Gu Haitang's release.
As Lang Yuexuan prepares to pour the chosen bottle, Gu Haitang struggles, kicking Lang Yueming. Lang Yueming falls onto Lang Yuexuan. Seeing the bottle about to spill on Lang Yueming, Lang Yuexuan bravely pushes him aside, saving his life, and the sulfuric acid splashes onto the ground. Lang Yueming, angered, turns and leaves. Lang Yuexuan then rescues Gu Haitang. Just as this happens, Lang Sinian returns home. Lang Yuexuan rushes to inquire about his absence.
Lang Sinian reveals he had been trapped outside Kunyang City, where Uncle Quan sacrificed himself by jumping off a cliff to save him. Lang Sinian anticipated Shi Jizhou would exploit his absence to target Lang's business, and had telephoned Lang Yuexuan to coordinate their response, which enabled them to turn the tables.
Feng Chunyan had informed Lang Sinian that Lang Yueming, despite his good intentions for the Lang family, had fallen into Shi Jizhou's trap, and while they had prepared countermeasures, they had not foreseen Shi Jizhou targeting Gu Haitang's family. Lang Yueming, who overheard this conversation, storms in, confronting Lang Sinian and expressing his anger about not being trusted. Lang Sinian reprimands Lang Yueming for his narrow-mindedness and for colluding with Shi Jizhou, betraying the Lang family.
Lang Yueming angrily retorts that Lang Sinian trusts an adopted son more than his own, and further accuses Lang Sinian of deeming him incompetent. In a fit of rage, Lang Yueming publicly exposes Lang Yuexuan as Lang Sinian's biological son, born to the maid Yan Zhi. Lang Sinian admits the truth. Feng Chunyan is stunned and heartbroken, confronting Lang Sinian about his years of deception.
At this critical moment, Shi Jizhou arrives with police and bursts into the Lang residence, surprised to find Lang Sinian alive. Shi Jizhou produces the Lang family's deed, demanding Lang Sinian vacate the premises within one day, wishing to see the family humiliated. Shi Jizhou then publicly reveals that Yan Zhi was pregnant with Lang Sinian's child, and Feng Chunyan murdered Yan Zhi after marrying into the Lang family.
He produces Feng Chunyan's hairpin as the murder weapon, encouraging Lang Yuexuan to seek revenge against Feng Chunyan. Lang Yuexuan is further shaken, and Lang Sinian stumbles. That night, Lang Yuexuan implores Lang Sinian to reveal the full truth, which Lang Sinian had already intended to do. Lang Sinian recounts the past: he admits to loving Yan Zhi but returned from a business trip to find her gone.
Feng Chunyan confesses that out of jealousy, she killed Yan Zhi, though in Plot 2, it's described as unintentional. She apologizes to Lang Yuexuan, who is deeply pained and shocked to learn that Feng Chunyan, the mother he had always respected, was the murderer of his birth mother, whom he doesn't even remember. Lang Sinian takes full responsibility for everything.
He further explains that Gu Shunqi was invited to help restore Yan Zhi's scarred face but was coveted by Shi Jizhou for his Furong Paste. Shi Jizhou imprisoned Gu Shunqi. When Lang Sinian learned that Yan Zhi's child was his son, he went to Shi Jizhou to reclaim him, only to witness Shi Jizhou kill Gu Shunqi.
Shi Jizhou then used Feng Chunyan's hairpin as blackmail, forcing Lang Sinian to conceal Gu Shunqi's murder and providing him with a large sum of hush money. Subsequently, Shi Jizhou handed the injured Lang Yuexuan to Lang Sinian to be raised as an adopted son. Upon hearing the complete truth, Gu Haitang cannot accept that her father, Gu Shunqi, was innocently killed, and she views Lang Sinian's silence as complicity.
Heartbroken, she leaves without looking back, and Lang Yuexuan immediately follows her. Meanwhile, Lang Yueming, feeling like a victim in all this, angrily demands that Lang Sinian immediately write a will transferring all of Lang family's assets, including "Lang Lichun," entirely to him, threatening to sever their father-son relationship if he refuses, and leaving nothing for Lang Yuexuan. Both Lang Sinian and Feng Chunyan are heartbroken by Lang Yueming's continued anger and lack of understanding.
Later, Lang Sinian and Feng Chunyan discuss their mutual pain over the years. Feng Chunyan confesses she had suppressed the truth about Yan Zhi's death to protect their marriage, but it became a haunting inner demon. Lang Sinian explains that his concealment and being subservient to Shi Jizhou were primarily to protect Feng Chunyan. They reconcile, understanding each other's suffering, release their long-held burdens, and Lang Sinian embraces Feng Chunyan.
As a gesture of atonement and to make amends for her past actions, Feng Chunyan decides to place Yan Zhi's memorial tablet in the Lang family ancestral hall. Lang Yuexuan finds himself unable to face Feng Chunyan, and Gu Haitang promises to stay by his side, wishing for him to not be consumed by hatred. Lang Yuexuan and Gu Haitang, arriving at Haitang Garden, are both deeply shaken and struggle to process the profound impact of these shocking revelations. Gu Haitang gradually comes to understand Lang Sinian's difficult predicament. As night falls, Lang Yuexuan arranges for Gu Haitang to stay in Haitang Garden.
