Shi Jizhou, having learned from his driver that Gu Haitang's father, Gu Shunqi, was an exceptional makeup artist capable of making the deceased appear alive, recalled his past attempts to collaborate with Gu Shunqi to ruin "Langlichun." Gu Shunqi had resolutely refused, leading Shi Jizhou to threaten his wife and children. Suspecting Gu Haitang to be Gu Shunqi's daughter, Shi Jizhou devised a new plan to permanently destroy the Lang family, particularly Lang Sinian.

He immediately returned home, instructing his wife to retrieve all money and gold bars from their safe, vowing to use Gu Haitang's background in a desperate gamble. Meanwhile, Gu Haitang and Fan Zhen decided to reopen their beauty academy. They took to the streets, distributing flyers, promoting their teachings to passersby, and offering free makeup services to interested young women.

Feng Chunyan, the matriarch of the Lang family, was restless with worry over family matters, particularly fearing that Lang Yueming's strong self-esteem might lead him to misunderstand Lang Sinian's good intentions in business. Miaolan, her attendant, offered to help monitor the situation. Feeling increasingly vexed, Feng Chunyan went out for a walk with Miaolan. They soon spotted Gu Haitang applying makeup to new recruits on the street.

Miaolan seized the opportunity to portray Gu Haitang as a cunning woman, suggesting she was exploiting "Langlichun's" name to attract students, and incited Feng Chunyan to confront her. Feng Chunyan and Miaolan publicly accosted Gu Haitang and Fan Zhen, falsely claiming they had been dismissed from "Langlichun" and were therefore unqualified to use its name for promotion. They hurled insults and accusations, but Gu Haitang and Fan Zhen staunchly defended themselves.

As Feng Chunyan turned to leave, Miaolan deliberately stepped on her skirt, causing Feng Chunyan to fall and faint. Gu Haitang promptly helped her up. Miaolan later spread a false account, telling Lang Yuexuan and Lang Yueming that Gu Haitang had pushed Feng Chunyan. Upon hearing of Feng Chunyan's injury, Lang Yuexuan and Lang Yueming rushed to her side. Lang Yueming aggressively sent Lang Yuexuan away, asserting his sole right to care for his mother.

Feng Chunyan, still agitated, demanded that Lang Sinian find a way to drive Gu Haitang out of Kunyang. Despite this, Lang Yuexuan brought Gu Haitang to offer an apology to Feng Chunyan. However, Feng Chunyan refused to accept it, her anger intensifying as she forcefully dismissed Gu Haitang. Lang Yuexuan's attempts to defend Gu Haitang only earned him a stern rebuke from Feng Chunyan.

Lang Sinian tried to persuade Feng Chunyan to hear Gu Haitang's explanation, but Feng Chunyan adamantly declared herself irreconcilably opposed to Gu Haitang, threatening severe repercussions for anyone who dared to privately associate with Gu Haitang. Lang Sinian then asked Miaolan to stay and attend to Feng Chunyan. Internally, tensions simmered within the Lang family. Lang Yueming confronted Lang Yuexuan about the development of new products, accusing him of being two-faced.

Lang Yuexuan responded by advising Lang Yueming against his current paranoia, stating that Gu Haitang's consent was necessary for new product details. Feng Chunyan, observing the growing friction between Lang Yuexuan and Lang Yueming, feared it would lead to a larger rift. She instructed Miaolan to monitor Lang Yuexuan to prevent him from contacting Gu Haitang.

Later, Feng Chunyan began to suspect Miaolan had tripped her, realizing Gu Haitang and Fan Zhen had been in front of her, while Miaolan was behind. Miaolan vehemently denied the accusation and was dismissed. Miaolan subsequently visited Lang Yueming, who perceived her desperation to eliminate Gu Haitang and her ambition to escape servitude within the Lang family. Miaolan conceded that she and Lang Yueming shared similar desires.

Back in her room, consumed by hatred for Feng Chunyan, Miaolan pierced a doll inscribed with Feng Chunyan's birth details. Meanwhile, Gu Haitang faced a crisis as many students, seemingly incited by an unknown party, gathered at her home demanding tuition refunds. She promised to return their money within ten days. Her mother, learning of Gu Haitang's predicament, produced family heirlooms, including ancestral gold and silver jewelry, to help.

Among these, Gu Haitang discovered a long-lost box of "Furong Paste," which still exuded its original fragrance after many years. Gu Haitang, who had previously failed to recreate the paste, was overjoyed and resolved to rediscover its secret formula. Fan Zhen later reported positive news: several students, secretly defying their families, still wished to learn genuine skills from Gu Haitang. Fan Zhen suspected the earlier student protests were orchestrated, though she lacked concrete evidence.

Gu Haitang advised her to remain calm and focus on teaching her students. In political circles, Long Dashuai pressured Lang Sinian to expedite his donations, reminding him not to be outdone by Shi Jizhou and to uphold his promise. Lang Sinian pledged a box of gold bars. Long Dashuai also attempted to arrange a marriage between Lang Yuexuan and Long Mohua, putting Lang Sinian in an awkward position he could not refuse.

Aware of Shi Jizhou's true ambitions, Lang Sinian agreed to the marriage, and Lang Yuexuan, in turn, promised to assist Lang Sinian in countering Shi Jizhou. Simultaneously, Long Mohua spent a day with Diwen. She drove him home late, embracing him in gratitude. Diwen took the opportunity to declare his feelings for her, but Long Mohua deftly changed the subject and drove away. Shi Jizhou observed this entire interaction from the shadows.
