Han Shuang confronted Ma Ke about his decision to mortgage his family's plastic surgery center to cover her furniture debt, insisting he shouldn't interfere with the financial burden she owed. Ma Ke, however, insisted that she must win her competition against Han Mingzhu. He confessed that he had mortgaged his family's plastic surgery center, explaining he had to cry and threaten his parents to get them to agree.
He promised to resign from the hospital and return to work at the center, giving up his dream of saving lives. He expressed his belief in Han Shuang, stating it was because she was "Han Shuang," not just Han Mingzhu's daughter, and reiterated that she needed to win. Han Shuang successfully sold all the furniture inventory.
Her friends gathered to celebrate, and Han Shuang thanked Xia Yan for her strategy, Zhao Xiaolei for her impactful copywriting, and Xiang Nan for providing healthy food and support. She reserved her deepest gratitude for Ma Ke, acknowledging his constant support and funding. She reflected on her initial perception of him as a playboy, contrasting it with his dedication to his dream and his hard work, even eating instant noodles.
She realized that while she often spoke of independence, she was afraid of hardship, and Ma Ke had been there for her in her most helpless moments, believing in her when she barely believed in herself. Ma Ke then embraced and kissed Han Shuang. Just as they shared the moment, Han Mingzhu arrived, causing their friends to quickly excuse themselves.
Han Mingzhu was impressed that Han Shuang had managed to clear all the inventory, admitting defeat, which she called her first complete loss in years. Han Shuang told her mother that her success came from utilizing the internet, urging her to adapt to the new economy. Han Mingzhu remained resolute in her belief in traditional brick-and-mortar businesses, arguing that some things, like building houses and and making phones, would always require physical effort.
Despite their professional rivalry, Han Mingzhu expressed joy at seeing Han Shuang grow and surpass her, promising to show no mercy as a competitor but looking forward to being defeated again. Later, Ma Ke sought out Han Mingzhu to explain his actions. He apologized for running away from the wedding, stating he only wanted some time alone and never expected Han Shuang to publicly announce their divorce.
Han Mingzhu revealed her daughter's true nature, explaining that Han Shuang might appear tough on the surface but was still a little girl inside, forced to act strong because Ma Ke had disappeared. Ma Ke acknowledged Han Shuang's pain and promised to find the person who maliciously edited and displayed the video at their wedding to clear her name, hoping this act would earn Han Mingzhu's respect and allow him to call her "Mom."
Meanwhile, a competing app called "Confidante Show" appeared in the App Store, alarmingly similar to their "Confidante Planet" app, even incorporating their unreleased new features and partner information. Ling Wei called a meeting, stating that their plan had been leaked internally. She instructed everyone to be honest during individual interviews with senior management, but warned against coordinating their testimonies, as this could lead to suspicion. Xia Yan was one of the last employees to be questioned.
The investigators were particularly interested in her relationship with Xu Cheng Yi, asking if her decision to join SG was influenced by him. They suggested she dumped her ex-boyfriend, Lin Hao, because she was attracted to Xu Cheng Yi.
They then revealed that Lin Hao's company had collaborated on the "Confidante Show" app, with Lin Hao providing the roll-out plan, implying that Xu Cheng Yi had leaked company plans to Lin Hao as a form of compensation for Xia Yan's past relationship, presenting a photo of Xu Cheng Yi and Lin Hao shaking hands as evidence. Simultaneously, Xu Cheng Yi was also being interrogated by his superior.
He was shown the photo of him shaking hands with Lin Hao, which had spread online and negatively impacted SG's stock price. His boss informed him that the board was already dissatisfied with him due to his steadfast refusal to sell the Sadoop Algorithm, a project he had dedicated years to, and now wanted him to take an extended leave of absence. They also intended to dismiss Xia Yan.
Xia Yan felt guilty, believing she was the cause of Xu Cheng Yi's troubles. She realized that if he left SG, he would lose control of the Sadoop Algorithm, his life's work. She learned that the board viewed the algorithm as a failed investment after five years of development and wanted to sell it. Xu Cheng Yi felt that taking a leave might give him a chance to turn the situation around, but Xia Yan adamantly refused to resign.
She insisted that her resignation would wrongly confirm their guilt in leaking the plan to Lin Hao. She was determined to stay and fight for Xu Cheng Yi and his algorithm, regardless of the pressure. Back at the office, Ling Wei approached Xia Yan, offering support if she chose to resign, but then changed her stance to one of support when Xia Yan stated her intent to stay.
Xia Yan reflected on Yan Changjun's past warning that Ling Wei was a cunning woman with hidden motives, noting that her return to a lower position at SG suggested something more significant than status was at play. Xia Yan confided in Yan Changjun, expressing her growing suspicion of Ling Wei, despite Xu Cheng Yi believing Xue Ning was responsible. Xia Yan argued that Xue Ning’s methods were direct, unlike the elaborate schemes used.
She pointed out that the person who stole Han Shuang's wedding video also framed her, and Han Shuang had only suspected Xia Yan after Ling Wei subtly planted the idea. Yan Changjun agreed, affirming that Ling Wei was definitely behind it, and her motives went beyond mere personal feelings for Xu Cheng Yi. Xia Yan then shared her concerns with her friends. Han Shuang immediately suspected Lin Hao, suggesting they call the police.
Zhao Xiaolei attempted to call Lin Hao, but his phone was off. She then called her brother, Zhao Xiaojun, who reported that Lin Hao had disappeared from his home and company, which were swarmed with journalists. Zhao Xiaojun also mentioned a rumor circulating that Lin Hao had only pursued a relationship with Zhao Xiaolei as a means of revenge against Xia Yan. Zhao Xiaolei was visibly upset by this news.
