Xiao Chao’s surgery went smoothly, but there was a complication with the suspect's—sudden increased bleeding. Shao Yuhan asked Mi Ka and the others to take over Xiao Chao’s operation while he went to assist with the suspect’s. As Shao Yuhan operated, Mi Ka discovered an arterial aneurysm in Xiao Chao’s brain. Since Shao Yuhan couldn’t come over, he instructed them to stabilize Xiao Chao’s blood pressure to prevent the aneurysm from rupturing.

Under Shao Yuhan’s guidance, both surgeries were ultimately successful. After the operation, he informed Xing Kelei and the others about Xiao Chao’s brain tumor and said they would need to monitor for possible aftereffects. Xing Kelei apologized for their earlier attitude, and Shao Yuhan said he understood and didn’t blame them. After work, Mi Ka found her completion certificate in her locker and felt a bit happy. As she packed up to leave, she saw Xing Kelei still sitting outside.

Seeing how upset he looked, she suggested they have dinner together. Xing Kelei said that when Shao Yuhan decided to save the suspect first, he too was angry but helpless. Mi Ka said that as doctors, they had no choice. Doctors take the Hippocratic Oath, and even when facing justice or mercy, they cannot intentionally kill a patient—everyone is equal before life. Doctors must always uphold their respect for life.

And Xing Kelei, as a police officer, upheld the dignity of the law and fulfilled his duty. Xing Kelei even said he wished he had been the one shot. Mi Ka comforted him, saying Xiao Chao probably felt the same and wouldn’t want his teammates to be hurt. Mi Ka shared her own struggles as a doctor, saying during her first year of internship, she encountered a highway accident where a family of three couldn’t be saved.

She felt powerless and guilty, but she had to keep being a doctor—only by continuing could she save more lives. The same applied to Xing Kelei—he had to keep going to protect more people. With Mi Ka’s comfort, Xing Kelei felt much better. The next day, Renxin Hospital’s management held a meeting to discuss how to handle Shao Yuhan. They felt his actions were too risky and disregarded hospital regulations, putting the neurosurgery department’s future in jeopardy.

Mi Ka raised her hand and spoke in Shao Yuhan’s defense. She said doctors shouldn’t just follow rules blindly, and that Shao Yuhan only performed two surgeries at once because he was confident in his ability to do so. Director Zhang agreed with her and did not reprimand Shao Yuhan—in fact, he even praised him. As a result, neurosurgery became well-known within the hospital. Xiaoman was about to go abroad for treatment.

Shao Yuhan and Mi Ka saw her off at the hospital entrance. Mi Ka became emotional and couldn’t help crying. On the way back, still wiping away tears, she walked behind Shao Yuhan. Someone from the hospital saw them and mistakenly thought Shao Yuhan had scolded Mi Ka and made her cry because of his temper. Ruan Qingxia discovered the traditional undershirt Xing Kelei gave Mi Ka and couldn’t help gossiping about their relationship.

Mi Ka told her to stop and diverted her attention by telling her Shu Wenbo’s updates. Ruan Qingxia immediately fell silent. Mi Ka said Shu Wenbo and Xing Kelei had been taking turns at the hospital to look after Xiao Chao. The next day, Ruan Qingxia went to the hospital to find Shu Wenbo and invited him to a meal. Shu Wenbo was reluctant, but Xing Kelei told him to escort her home.

After leaving the hospital, Ruan Qingxia kept pestering Shu Wenbo to let her go with him back to the police station. Xing Kelei and Mi Ka stayed behind to care for Xiao Chao, but Xiao Chao suddenly had a headache. Mi Ka told Xing Kelei to quickly borrow a wheelchair for a CT scan. At the CT room, they got into a conflict with other patients’ family members.

Xing Kelei, in a hurry, threw one of them to the ground when they got physical. Bystanders captured the moment on video and uploaded it online, leading to public criticism of Mi Ka and Xing Kelei. As a result, Mi Ka was punished and reassigned to the emergency department, while Xing Kelei was reprimanded. Captain Hao told him not to go to the hospital for now and said he’d send other colleagues to care for Xiao Chao.

On Mi Ka’s first day in the emergency department, a waiting patient suddenly suffered a heart attack and lost their pulse. After Chen Tao revived the patient, the patient began convulsing. Dr. Zhou instructed Chen Tao, Mi Ka, and others to restrain the patient while he went to get Director Wei.
