She still hadn’t checked her phone, so she borrowed Shao Yuhan’s to call Xing Kelei, but his phone was off. Mi Ka started to worry. She worked the night shift in the quarantine room, and just when her shift was about to end, she began showing symptoms—cough and fever. She quickly held the quarantine room door shut to prevent Chen Tao and Shao Yuhan from entering and asked Shao Yuhan if he thought the patient’s condition required distancing.
Shao Yuhan’s expression turned serious and told Chen Tao to get protective gear immediately. Mi Ka continued her isolation in the quarantine room. Wei Lan asked if she needed anything, and Mi Ka quickly asked for her phone. Soon after, Chen Tao brought it to her. Mi Ka opened it and saw that apart from the one message from Xing Kelei saying he wouldn’t be back, there was nothing else. She wanted to tell him she had a fever and was quarantined but hesitated. In the end, she didn’t send the message—she only told Ruan Qingxia she was in quarantine.
