Moved by Mi Ka’s words, Xing Kelei decided to trust her and chose the minimally invasive surgery. Xing Keyao went to find Shao Yuhan and expressed her worries. Shao Yuhan thought she didn’t trust him, but Xing Keyao quickly clarified that she was just worried about her brother and wasn’t questioning his abilities. Shao Yuhan said he was making this decision for Xing Kelei’s best interest.

He knew how much Xing Kelei cared about staying on the special forces team, which is why he was willing to perform the minimally invasive surgery to help him continue the job he loved. As the surgery date approached, Xing Kelei felt increasingly anxious. Mi Ka broke down in tears because of a casual joke he made. She said just the thought of Xing Kelei lying on the operating table terrified her.

No matter how skilled or tough Xing Kelei was, even as a sharpshooter, she couldn’t help but get nervous every time he went on a mission. She couldn’t control her fear. She wished she could support every decision he made, but she simply couldn’t stop herself from being afraid. Seeing how concerned Mi Ka was, Xing Kelei felt touched. He comforted her, reminding her that as a doctor, she should be rational.

After a few more reassuring words, Mi Ka calmed down. That night, she told Xing Kelei that in the future, she could also be his support and would face everything together with him. The next morning, Xing Keyao and Mi Ka accompanied Xing Kelei to the hospital. Shu Wenbo and the others also came to visit.

Shao Yuhan stopped by to have Mi Ka take Xing Kelei for some tests, reminding him not to eat or drink anything after 8 p. m. as the surgery would be tomorrow afternoon. That evening, Xing Kelei asked Mi Ka not to go into the operating room the next day. He didn’t want her to see him lying on the operating table. He also said he hoped the first person he saw upon waking up would be her.

Mi Ka agreed. When Xing Kelei was wheeled into the operating room, Mi Ka and Xing Keyao waited anxiously outside. Even though they both knew it was a minor surgery, they couldn’t help but worry. Time ticked by slowly, and after four hours had passed, both of them grew even more anxious. Meanwhile, the team at the police unit also awaited updates.

When the surgery finally ended, Mi Ka quickly changed clothes and rushed to the ICU to check on Xing Kelei. Remembering his request, she gently woke him up from the anesthesia. Mi Ka was on night duty, so she stayed at the hospital with Xing Kelei. Seeing the surgery go well, Xing Keyao finally relaxed. She also planned to stay at the hospital. Shao Yuhan invited her to wait in his office so she could get updates more easily.

Feeling a bit relieved, Xing Keyao couldn’t fight off her exhaustion and fell asleep in his office. Shao Yuhan didn’t wake her up. Instead, he draped a coat over her and quietly sat in a chair, reminiscing about their past. The next morning, Xing Kelei was transferred out of the ICU. Mi Ka went to the general ward to review his test results and was relieved to find everything looked good.

Xing Kelei kept saying he was hungry and wanted to eat watermelon. Mi Ka immediately ran to the fruit store and bought the biggest watermelon she could find, even feeding it to him herself. During Xing Kelei’s recovery, Shu Wenbo and the others, along with Mi Ka, all took turns making nutritious meals for him. One day, while Mi Ka was preparing soup, something came up and she had to leave.

She asked Ruan Qingxia to stay home and continue cooking, and also called Shu Wenbo over to help. Ruan Qingxia felt a little awkward when Shu Wenbo arrived but had to pretend nothing was wrong and tried to act normal.
