Mi Ka immediately ordered adrenaline and began defibrillation for Xu Ke, but despite their efforts, there was no sign of life. Just then, Shao Yuhan walked in and declared Xu Ke dead. Everyone felt deeply saddened, especially Mi Ka. Shao Yuhan told Jia Li and Xu Yanshan to handle the body, then took Mi Ka out to assist with another surgery. During the operation, another aftershock struck, but thankfully it didn’t affect the procedure, and the surgery concluded successfully.

Xu Yanshan left the OR still shaken from earlier. She kept thinking about the blood that had sprayed on her and felt terrified. Chen Tao tried to comfort her, but she couldn’t calm down. After Mi Ka finished the surgery, she saw the sorrowful Xu Yanshan outside and felt down herself. Seeing this, Shao Yuhan spoke to both of them, telling them they had to adapt quickly—emotions were the most useless thing in such situations.

That night, seeing that Mi Ka and Xu Yanshan were still feeling low, Shao Yuhan comforted them by saying that the greatest helplessness for a doctor is realizing that no matter how much they’ve learned, they still can't defy fate. But even so, they must not give in. As doctors, their duty is to snatch more lives from the hands of death. Xing Kelei’s team discovered a group of disaster survivors in the mountains.

Upon inquiry, they learned they were villagers from Mao Village, where many elderly residents couldn’t move. Xing Kelei’s team was heading to Li Village, and the survivors offered to guide them. Once there, they learned that the nearby Yao Gou Village had suffered severely—many houses had collapsed, and many escapees had fled to Li Village. After gathering information, Zhuo Wenjing found a clearing on the mountain behind the village that could be used for airdrops.

Xing Kelei quickly took his team to mark the site with a cross and asked someone to notify the command center. However, there was no signal, so he sent someone to the mountaintop to use the radio. After contacting the command center and reporting the situation and airdrop coordinates, they suddenly heard someone calling for help. Xing Kelei rushed over.

The injured person turned out to be Dr. Chen, a hydrology expert from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, who had been hit in the head by falling rocks and had been unconscious all night. Xing Kelei and his teammates carried him on a stretcher, planning to send him back to base through a passage cleared at Long'er Valley. As night fell, Zhuo Wenjing accidentally fell off a cliff. Xing Kelei immediately rappelled down to check on her.

Since she was too weak to help herself, Xing Kelei instructed Luo Ting to take Dr. Chen back to base first and bring back a doctor. When Mi Ka learned that Xing Kelei and Zhuo Wenjing were trapped below the cliff, she rushed to the site with Luo Ting. Mi Ka treated Zhuo Wenjing’s wounds and urged Luo Ting and the others to pull her up quickly.

Shu Wenbo, at the medical base, saw Ruan Qingxia, who had come to cover the disaster and help transport the injured. Embarrassed to greet her, he silently stepped forward and took over the stretcher from her. Ruan Qingxia didn’t seek out Shu Wenbo either, instead getting ready to start work with the cameraman. At the base, Shu Wenbo noticed a suspicious man in a gray hoodie.

Pretending to leave, he watched as the man snuck into the supply container to steal items. After the theft, the man ran into Xu Yanshan. Seeing him with stolen goods, she gave chase. Shu Wenbo caught him at the door. Ruan Qingxia witnessed it and hurried over to check if Xu Yanshan was okay. She also mentioned a company wanting to donate medical supplies, so Xu Yanshan took her to find Director Chen of the logistics department.

As they talked, Ruan Qingxia didn’t even glance at Shu Wenbo, which left him feeling a little disheartened. Xing Keyao arrived at the disaster area with a truck of supplies and even brought Shao Yuhan some chocolate and instant coffee. Just then, her subordinate reported that media had captured footage of their supply delivery and wanted to interview Xing Keyao. She agreed. The subordinate then asked if Shao Yuhan would agree to be interviewed. Shao Yuhan’s expression changed.

He said he had no time and turned away abruptly. Xing Keyao was puzzled and asked if the reporters had been arranged by her. The subordinate clarified that they had come independently to shoot and weren’t invited. Though some roads to the earthquake’s epicenter in Linan County had been cleared, communications were still down, so many injured couldn’t be transported to the base. The command center decided to send a small medical team to the epicenter. Shao Yuhan decided to personally lead the team and asked Director Wei to gather the personnel.
