Well-Intended Love S2 Episode 8 Recap
> Well-Intended Love S2 Recap
Ling Yizhou, accompanied by Wen Li, took Xia Lin and Jia Fei to a soccer match. Ling Yizhou jokingly asked if they were satisfied watching twenty-two men at once, to which Xia Lin sarcastically replied she was "very happy," realizing they had been tricked again.
Jia Fei lamented that "passionate muscular hunks getting hyped up" turned out to be this, complaining that Ling Yizhou and Wen Li wouldn't even let them go to the gym, feeling it was like being "strictly controlled by their husbands." When Xia Lin asked who Jia Fei meant by "husbands," Jia Fei specified Boss Ling, also adding that Xia Lin didn't deny wanting to be Mrs. Ling and even "looked forward to it."
When a goal was scored, Xia Lin and Jia Fei enthusiastically stood up and cheered, only to realize they were celebrating a goal by the opposing team when the surrounding fans remained still. A small scuffle ensued with some unhappy fans, prompting Ling Yizhou and Wen Li to quickly step in and protect the two women. After the small incident, Ling Yizhou and Xia Lin walked along a summer night street.
Xia Lin seized the opportunity to ask Ling Yizhou a question she had been wanting to ask: "Why me?" She pointed out that he was good-looking, came from a prominent family, and was loyal, making him "the perfect husband to many girls." Ling Yizhou asked if he was her "perfect husband" in her eyes, to which Xia Lin playfully accused him of sidetracking her before he answered her question.
Ling Yizhou then clarified if she was asking why he chose her over others. He admitted that if their "engagement agreement is a plot," he would not deny it. He explained his ultimate goal was for Xia Lin to fall for him, which he considered the agreement's "greatest value." He then sincerely confessed that he, Ling Yizhou, loved her and wanted to be with her. Xia Lin smiled sweetly upon hearing this, realizing she now had the initiative.
Meanwhile, Jia Fei and Wen Li were waiting for the bus. Wen Li suggested they were wearing "matching outfits" that day, to which Jia Fei retorted that if that were the case, she was wearing matching outfits with everyone on the entire field. Wen Li then playfully asked if he had so many "romantic rivals," making Jia Fei shyly respond that he had "no romantic rival," only him. Wen Li was delighted by her response.
Xia Lin then led Ling Yizhou to the front of the Ministry of Civil Affairs building, stating that "terminating the engagement agreement" was necessary before they could "get married." She declared that since the engagement was his "plot," she would let his "plot to bear fruit." For her, marriage was a "gamble," and she dared him to gamble with her.
Ling Yizhou accepted, saying he would "dare to gamble on anything" as long as she wasn't the stakes, vowing never to let her go after they were married. However, he pointed out that the Ministry of Civil Affairs was closed at that hour and suggested they return the next day. Xia Lin, determined, sat down on the steps and declared they would "sit and wait for the dawn."
Ling Yizhou sat beside her, agreeing to wait and promising to have his household register sent over at daybreak. The next day, they successfully obtained their red marriage certificate. Upon returning home, Xia Lin revealed a surprise gift for Ling Yizhou to celebrate his reinstatement: a guest room filled with gift boxes, all containing ties.
She declared she had "bought enough ties for him to use for two years," implying she would take care of his ties for the foreseeable future. Ling Yizhou chuckled, saying "two years aren't enough," expressing his hope that she would buy enough ties for him "for the rest of my life." He then kissed her and carried her into the bedroom. Later, a dapper Ling Yizhou and a carefully dressed Xia Lin visited his grandmother.
Grandma was overjoyed to see Xia Lin, holding her hand, smiling affectionately, and engaging in warm conversation. She told Xia Lin that girls should always be "pampered" by men and that men should "do the hard work." Grandma then took Xia Lin to her study to show her photos of Ling Yizhou from his childhood. Xia Lin noticed a group photo with a missing section and asked about it.
Grandma explained that Ling Yizhou himself had torn off that part, which was a photo of his mother. Just then, Ling Yizhou's cold voice resonated from outside. His mother, Mrs. Nan, had arrived. He addressed her formally as "Mrs. Nan," stating that she knew he hated her and asking her not to "pretend to be a good mother" in front of him. Mrs. Nan, holding flowers, admitted she needed his help, as her company was in trouble.
She wanted to know if her "Mr. Nan" could participate in Lingshi Group's cooperation with foreign entities. Ling Yizhou gave a bitter laugh, saying he knew she was trying to "pave the way for your son Nan Jintian," and ordered her to leave. Grandma and Xia Lin then emerged from the study, and Grandma pulled Ling Yizhou back inside to look at more photos. Xia Lin approached Mrs. Nan and greeted her.
Upon learning Xia Lin was Ling Yizhou's fiancée, Mrs. Nan took off her favorite bracelet and offered it to her. Xia Lin declined, saying it was "too valuable." Xia Lin gently asked Mrs. Nan if she had ever thought about looking for Ling Yizhou all these years, even after his father's passing.
Xia Lin advised that since everyone was living well now, it might be better to "maintain the existing state," as "not seeing and recognizing each other is not a bad thing." She stressed that regardless of Mrs. Nan's intentions, "ripping the scars" open again now would be "too cruel." Mrs. Nan tried to explain the "pain" of having to choose between two difficult options.
Xia Lin countered that since Mrs. Nan chose "love and gave up responsibility," she should not "dream of him understanding you." Xia Lin asserted that she respected Ling Yizhou's decision, and no one could force him to do something he didn't want to do. Ling Yizhou, overhearing Xia Lin's defense, felt his heart warm, and thanked her for taking his side.
Xia Lin reassured him that he had done nothing wrong and that "the hurt inflicted by your family is most painful." She also mentioned that Chu Yan faced similar family issues, telling Ling Yizhou he only needed to reconcile with himself. After taking over his father's company, Chu Yan sent his father to recuperate while he went to handle business.
He successfully finalized a cooperation agreement with PwC, only to inadvertently learn that Ling Yizhou had given him a recommendation behind the scenes. Annoyed, Chu Yan confronted Ling Yizhou, feigning disbelief in Ling Yizhou's trust in his own abilities. Ling Yizhou admitted to recommending him to PwC but clarified that they wouldn't have cooperated if Chu Yan's company lacked strength. He also apologized for not communicating with Chu Yan beforehand.
Chu Yan then chuckled, revealing his performance was an act and that he had actually come to thank Ling Yizhou. He proudly asked Ling Yizhou about his acting, to which Ling Yizhou clapped and praised him as "Best Actor." Chu Yan then invited Ling Yizhou for drinks, but Ling Yizhou declined, stating he needed to pick up Xia Lin, which prompted Chu Yan to jokingly call him "a typical guy who neglects his friend when he's smitten with love."
Chu Yan later had a conversation with Xiaoyu, where he shared his perspective on Xia Lin and Ling Yizhou. He explained that although he liked Xia Lin first, his "love is built on the basis of respect," and since Xia Lin had chosen Ling Yizhou, his affection for her had transformed into "goodwill." He expressed that he was happy if they were happy, and he didn't want Xia Lin to be involved in any "love triangle gossip."
Xia Lin arrived hastily at the live show venue, instructing her assistant, Yuyuan, to take her bag to the break room. After Yuyuan left, Zhen Baohui secretly swapped the name labels on the breakroom doors, exchanging her name with Xia Lin's. Miss Jiang, who had orchestrated this, then instructed Yuyuan to directly lead Ling Yizhou to what was now labeled as "Xia Lin's break room" when he arrived. When Ling Yizhou arrived, he was indeed led to the room.
He sat down, expecting Xia Lin, but to his surprise, Zhen Baohui appeared before him. He told her she had entered the wrong room and asked her to leave, but Zhen Baohui insisted on discussing his "agreement" with Xia Lin. Ling Yizhou gave her three minutes. Just as Xia Lin finished her live show and headed towards the break room, Zhen Baohui suddenly ran out of the room, crying hysterically. Ling Yizhou followed shortly after.
Xia Lin asked what was happening, and Zhen Baohui tearfully claimed that if she hadn't "used force to break free," Ling Yizhou "would have succeeded!" However, Xia Lin did not believe Zhen Baohui's dramatic performance, telling her that her "acting is too dramatic" and "too over the top." Ling Yizhou remained silent but took out his phone and played a recording.
It turned out he had recorded his entire conversation with Zhen Baohui, revealing her attempts to trap him using the "agreement" and her offer to be with him without status. Realizing her act had failed, Zhen Baohui dejectedly lowered her head. Xia Lin then sternly told Zhen Baohui that she reserved the right to sue her for framing her fiancé and advised her to behave herself in the future.
Ling Yizhou later confessed to Xia Lin that he hadn't had a chance to play the recording before she intervened. He explained that recording conversations was his "working habit," a "precautionary" measure. Ling Yizhou later warned Miss Jiang that Xia Lin, whom he affectionately called Mumu, was his "bottom line" and that she should "behave yourself."
