Nan Chu visits Unit Leader Xu's grave to report that the Dream Dance Club recently won a small prize. She thanks him, stating that without his influence, she might never have been able to dance, and promises to continue pursuing it seriously. At the fire station, Lin Luxiao calls Nan Chu while checking equipment and asks to meet in an hour. Excited about their first official date, Nan Chu enlists Xi Gu's help at the dance studio.
They select a dress and a long coat, and as Xi Gu does Nan Chu's makeup, she playfully describes a romantic scenario where Lin Luxiao might kiss her. Meanwhile, Yang Zhengang meticulously inspects Lin Luxiao's outfit, deeming it too casual and insisting he wear a leather jacket for a more handsome appearance, despite Lin Luxiao's complaints about the heat.
The other firefighters overhear and cheer for him, which leads them to ask Yang Zhengang about organizing a mixer to help them find partners, specifically teasing Liu Ruyi about his interest in Dr. Xia Wan. Yang Zhengang dismisses their chatter and sends Shao Yijiu and Qin Shiquan to inspect water sources and street conditions in their jurisdiction. Lin Luxiao and Nan Chu meet, and he compliments her, saying she looks beautiful.
While on their patrol, Shao Yijiu and Qin Shiquan spot the couple in a public square. They sneak photos and share them in the station's group chat, to the excitement of their colleagues. Lin Luxiao and Nan Chu play a ring-toss game, and after he misses several times, Nan Chu successfully wins a prize. The stall owner, recognizing Lin Luxiao, gives them a small gift and remarks on their sweet romance.
They go to a restaurant for dinner, which Lin Luxiao realizes is owned by Mr. Xu, the bun shop owner he and his team had previously rescued. Mr. Xu warmly welcomes them and proudly shows off his new, clean restaurant, explaining that friends helped him open it after his old one was lost. He shares the wonderful news that a bone marrow match has been found for his daughter, and she will soon have her surgery.
He expresses deep gratitude to Shao Yijiu and Qin Shiquan for teaching him how to use online crowdfunding, which helped his family overcome their financial hardship. In a separate event, Liu Ruyi meets Xia Wan at the gym. He compliments her on her casual attire, and they work out together. Afterward, he invites her to dinner, but she declines, saying her ride has arrived, and suggests they meet another time. After dinner, Lin Luxiao and Nan Chu walk hand-in-hand.
He tells her he has been temporarily suspended from duty pending a review of his report. He considers it a break but admits he feels restless being idle after so long on the front lines. Nan Chu empathizes, comparing it to a dancer who has practiced extensively but is not allowed to perform. When they arrive at the dance studio, she mentions she is looking for a proper apartment.
Lin Luxiao offers her his unused place, but she politely declines, asking only that he help her move when she finds one. Unwilling to part, Nan Chu gives him a goodnight kiss, then playfully claims she is hungry and suggests they get a late-night snack together. Jiang Ge's fire safety program is officially canceled, and the crew packs up.
He dismisses them without a formal goodbye and then sees a video of Lin Luxiao and Nan Chu's date in a group chat. Heartbroken, he resolves to focus on his career. Back at the station, the firefighters tease Lin Luxiao about the "smell of love" surrounding him. Captain Meng Guohong summons Yang Zhengang and instructs him to manage all station duties during Lin Luxiao's suspension.
Captain Meng expresses his happiness for Lin Luxiao, noting that the time off is a good opportunity for him to rest. He also shows Yang a repaired commemorative model from a past competition, explaining he kept it as a personal memento of his last time leading the team. Yang argues that it represents a collective honor and should be displayed at the station. Having learned of the suspension, Lin Luxiao's father calls him home.
He criticizes his son for the disciplinary action but instructs him to use the time to reflect on how to improve his work, reminding him that firefighting is a service to the people. He mentions that Captain Meng told him about the relationship with an actress, and while he is not satisfied with her profession, he will not interfere in his son's personal life. He asks Lin Luxiao to bring her home for a visit when the time is right.
Feeling down, Jiang Ge calls Lin Qi and suggests they get a drink. When Lin Qi declines due to a performance at the Labyrinth Bar, Jiang Ge decides to go watch and support him. He finds Lin Qi playing violin for a sparse, inattentive audience. After the bar empties, Jiang Ge confides in Lin Qi, expressing his heartbreak over Nan Chu being with Lin Luxiao.
He also voices his frustration with his father, who he feels dismisses all his ambitions as schemes to waste money, making him feel worthless. He tells Lin Qi that he envies him for being able to pursue something he truly loves.
