Xiao Qing woke to find Bai A'Jiu missing. Lian Xuan, realizing that Bai A'Jiu must have gone to find Lu Jin Zhi, rushed with Xiao Qing to the battlefield. Meanwhile, spurred by Divisional Commander Qi's words, Lu Jin Zhi fought fiercely, charging forward with his submachine gun. However, he was eventually struck by enemy fire, losing consciousness and falling into darkness. Bai A'Jiu, unable to locate Lu Jin Zhi on the battlefield, eventually found him unconscious in a hospital.
She stayed by his side, deeply apologetic for being late. When Lu Jin Zhi slowly regained consciousness, he admitted he had known she was a demon all along and that she had saved his life eight times already. Fearing death and the thought of leaving her alone and vulnerable, he desperately begged her to save him just one more time. Despite her extreme weakness and having only one life left, Bai A'Jiu couldn't bear to refuse him.
She resolved to offer her inner elixir to save him. However, just as she offered her essence, the dormant Yu Shao Bai, who had been possessing Lu Jin Zhi since he was admitted to the hospital, emerged from Lu Jin Zhi's body. He scornfully remarked on how love makes one foolish, then consumed Bai A'Jiu's inner elixir, which had caused her to revert to her fox form.
With Bai A'Jiu's essence now his, Yu Shao Bai's power greatly increased, allowing him to finally withstand sunlight. The next morning, Lu Jin Zhi awoke in the field hospital, suffering only a head injury and a bullet wound to his right leg, neither fatal. He then noticed a white fox by his bed, which the nurse explained had been there since last night and wouldn't leave. Seriously injured and aware he was no match for Jin Xingjian, Yu Shao Bai fled. Lu Jin Zhi, still carrying the white fox, returned to his new home, expecting Bai A'Jiu to be there. As night fell and she didn't appear, he began searching for her throughout the city, asking everyone if they had seen a girl in white.
The white fox, unable to speak, watched Lu Jin Zhi's desperate search and his tearful pleas for Bai A'Jiu to return, vowing to find her no matter what. Despite days of fruitless searching, Lu Jin Zhi remained steadfast, resolute in his commitment to keep searching with the fox by his side.
Meanwhile, Ye Li Na received an early morning phone call from the Lu Mansion in Nanjing, informing her that her good friend, Lu Tian Jiao, was gravely ill and facing expulsion from school. Concerned, Ye Li Na immediately bought a ticket and traveled to Nanjing. Her brother, Ye Qing Chun, tried to convince her to wait so he could accompany her, but she insisted on going alone.
At the Lu Mansion, she was met by the unpleasant Third Lady, who tried to dissuade her from seeing Lu Tian Jiao, claiming she suffered from "hysteria" and was unfit for visitors. The Third Lady implied Lu Tian Jiao was a burden and suggested she be sent to a hospital, adding that she didn't have the manpower to care for her.
Ye Li Na pressed on, eventually speaking with Madam Li, who confirmed Lu Tian Jiao's condition: constant sleepiness, exacerbated by alcohol and medication, with doctors unable to diagnose her. Ye Li Na was shocked by the state of Lu Tian Jiao's room, littered with empty liquor bottles, and her friend's gaunt appearance. In her sleep, Lu Tian Jiao dreamt of Ye Ming shamelessly seducing her fiancé, Mr. Mo, and angrily confronted her.
Ye Ming, in the dream, calmly retorted that Mr. Mo was only a fiancé and that many men have mistresses, even hinting that Lu Tian Jiao might become the mistress herself. Back with Jin Xingjian, Lian Xuan, and Xiao Qing, Lian Xuan blamed himself for not tying up Bai A'Jiu, leading to her inner elixir being stolen. Jin Xingjian assured them they had done their best and shouldn't be hard on themselves.
He explained that although Yu Shao Bai now possessed Bai A'Jiu's inner elixir, his ancient human body could not fully contain the power of the Bright Pearl without disintegrating, which would also cause Ye Ming to vanish. Xiao Qing expressed frustration that their efforts seemed to have come to naught, but Lian Xuan, after some prodding from Xiao Qing, clarified his true concerns: Jin Xingjian's impending thunder tribulation.
If Jin Xingjian failed to gather all the seals, he would be struck by thunder, leaving no one to counter Yu Shao Bai's ruthlessness. Despite their bickering, which touched on their own marriage plans, Lian Xuan and Xiao Qing decided to prioritize finding the last seal to protect Jin Xingjian. Yu Shao Bai, reflecting on his failed attempt to merge the Bright Pearl, was determined to obtain it.
He acknowledged that his ancient body was insufficient to handle its immense power. When the one-eyed general offered his own body, Yu Shao Bai rejected it as unworthy but assigned him another task. Meanwhile, Ye Ming awakened in the underground chamber, recalling past misunderstandings of Jin Xingjian's actions. She now understood his previous confinements were for her protection. Jin Xingjian appeared, confirming her thoughts and telling her that she was free to leave.
Ye Ming expressed her gratitude for his sacrifices but lamented that he had awakened her, as Yu Shao Bai would never give up trying to seize her half of the Pearl. She acknowledged their commensal knot meant she and Yu Shao Bai were destined to die together if the pearl were ever forcibly removed.
Jin Xingjian, pained, pledged to find a way to break the knot, assuring her he would never allow her to sacrifice herself again, as he couldn't bear to lose her. Ye Ming, deeply touched, promised to face all future challenges with him. Following the discussion, Lian Xuan and Xiao Qing learned from a group of terrified bats that Yu Shao Bai had gone to Taiyuan.
To aid Jin Xingjian in avoiding the impending thunder tribulation, Lian Xuan and Xiao Qing resolved to follow Yu Shao Bai to Taiyuan to locate the last seal, with Xiao Qing enthusiastically joining the mission to expedite their wedding plans once the serious task was complete.
