After witnessing Xiao Hu eating raw meat, Ye Qingchun was terrified and determined to dismiss him. Despite Xiao Hu's seemingly pitiful demeanor, Ye Qingchun steeled his heart against any enchantment and let his staff push Xiao Hu out of the clothing store. That night, Jin Xingjian encountered Yin Qing at the dance hall entrance. Ye Ming, however, ignored Jin Xingjian and on her way home, noticed someone following her.
Jin Xingjian knew the One-Eyed General was lurking in the dark and warned Ye Ming to be vigilant and not to rely on him to find Yu Shao Bai. Ye Ming refused to listen and acted on her own, but Jin Xingjian did not insist, instead quietly following behind to ensure her safety. Later, a Blood Bat appeared before Ye Ming but vanished as soon as Jin Xingjian arrived.
Ye Ming confronted Jin Xingjian, accusing him of holding back information and preventing her from finding Yu Shao Bai. Jin Xingjian warned her that the Blood Bat was not benevolent, but Ye Ming remained headstrong, asserting her right to seek the truth on her own. She also pointed out that Jin Xingjian himself was not seen as a good demon by others. Jin Xingjian insisted on protecting her, quietly following her home.
That night, Ye Ming dreamt of Yu Shao Bai. Meanwhile, in his bed, Ye Qingchun turned over and was terrified to find a large, warm presence beside him. Xiao Hu was curled up on the duvet like a contented cat, sleeping soundly. The next morning, Ye Qingchun woke to an empty bed, assuming it was a nightmare. However, when he went downstairs, he found Xiao Hu diligently working as usual.
Ye Qingchun, confused, questioned his staff about why Xiao Hu was still there, reminding them that he had been fired. To his dismay, the staff members exchanged puzzled glances, seemingly having no memory of the previous day's events, while Xiao Hu maintained an innocent expression. Realizing everyone had lost their memory, and disturbed by Xiao Hu's increasingly innocent smile, Ye Qingchun was terrified. He immediately climbed the wall to sneak into Hua Xue Gallery, seeking help.
However, Jin Xingjian had anticipated his arrival and had Xiao Pi intercept him. Xiao Pi explained that Jin Xingjian was aware of the "beast" in his home and had already arranged for a demon hunter to visit. Lian Xuan soon arrived, eager to undertake the demon-hunting mission, as Jin Xingjian had informed him earlier that Yu Shao Bai was starting to act and had given Lian Xuan a different task from following Ye Ming.
Inside Ye Qingchun's store, Lian Xuan prepared to confront the demon. Xiao Hu, recognizing Lian Xuan as a demon hunter, deliberately shattered several perfume bottles, mixing their strong scent with his own faint demonic aura, making it difficult for Lian Xuan to pinpoint him. Xiao Hu then used the pretense of airing out the strong perfume smell to open a door and escape, but Lian Xuan caught him in pursuit.
The two fought fiercely; Lian Xuan, despite his efforts, was injured and forced to retreat, while Xiao Hu was also wounded and his clothes torn before he fled. Bewildered by Xiao Hu's unexpected strength for a seemingly minor demon, Lian Xuan returned to Hua Xue Gallery, recounting his embarrassing experience to Jin Xingjian. He complained that Xiao Hu, whose demonic aura was barely detectable, managed to injure him and tear his clothes, making him a public spectacle.
Jin Xingjian then revealed that Xiao Hu possessed one of his Bagua Seals, explaining why Lian Xuan was no match. Lian Xuan, furious that Jin Xingjian had sent him on a mission knowing the demon had a powerful artifact, accused him of being cunning. Jin Xingjian calmly dismissed his anger, telling him to rest and assuring him that he had other plans for Ye Ming. Later, Xiao Qing attended to Lian Xuan's scratches.
Injured, Xiao Hu sought refuge in the familiar alley behind Ye Qingchun's house, reminiscing about the time a young Ye Qingchun had found him, an injured stray cat, and gently offered him milk to heal. He remembered being adopted, fed well, and even slept in Ye Qingchun's arms. Xiao Hu thought about how much he loved Ye Qingchun, who loved him back. However, when Ye Qingchun went abroad for studies, his father, who disliked cats, abandoned Xiao Hu far away.
Despite this, Xiao Hu felt no resentment. He remained devoted to repaying Ye Qingchun's kindness, believing that Ye Qingchun simply didn't remember him and wouldn't harm him if he did. He only wanted to stay by his side forever. In the following days, Xiao Hu continued to sneak into Ye Qingchun's bedroom each night to sleep beside him.
Every morning, regardless of how many times Xiao Hu was chased away, the staff would forget the previous day's events and resume their work as if nothing happened. Desperate, Ye Qingchun tried to play along, seeking opportunities to escape. He attempted to distract Xiao Hu by claiming his design drawings had blown away, but Xiao Hu quickly retrieved them.
He then tried to escort a female customer home as an excuse to leave the shop, but Xiao Hu insisted on accompanying them all the way. Finally, Ye Qingchun tried to climb the wall of Hua Xue Gallery again, but Xiao Hu caught him just as he was making his escape. Suddenly, Jin Xingjian appeared at Ye Qingchun's shop. With a sweep of his hand, he stopped time, freezing everyone.
He confronted Xiao Hu, restraining him effortlessly, and questioned why he continued to stay with Ye Qingchun despite the poor treatment. Xiao Hu confessed his past, explaining his unwavering loyalty to Ye Qingchun, who had shown him immense kindness as a stray cat. He recounted how he found the Bagua Seal and used it to transform into human form solely to return and be by Ye Qingchun's side, never having used it for ill.
He pleaded with Jin Xingjian to let him remain with Ye Qingchun, even if it meant Ye Qingchun eventually died of old age, which Jin Xingjian pointed out would inevitably happen in a hundred years. Seeing Xiao Hu's sincere and benevolent heart, Jin Xingjian decided to spare his life. He demanded the return of the Bagua Seal, promising that Xiao Hu could still stay by Ye Qingchun's side. Tearfully, Xiao Hu surrendered the seal.
A flash of light enveloped him, and he transformed back into a small cat, immediately leaping into Ye Qingchun's waiting arms. Jin Xingjian then remarked that being a cute cat was better than being a demon. Meanwhile, at the nightclub, Jin Xingjian confronted Yin Qing, revealing his nature as a Blood Bat. Yin Qing admitted his true nature but firmly denied any knowledge of Yu Shao Bai.
He expressed his sole desire to live peacefully with Xiao Tao, whom he loved. Ye Ming, Xiao Tao, and Yin Qing then left the nightclub together, with Ye Ming pointedly ignoring Jin Xingjian. Xiao Tao remarked that Jin Xingjian seemed enchanted by Ye Ming and they would now have company while waiting for her. Jin Xingjian had other matters to attend to that night, and the trio departed.
Separately, Yu Shao Bai was informed that Jin Xingjian had acquired another seal. However, Yu Shao Bai remained confident, knowing that as long as he held one of the seals, Jin Xingjian would be powerless. He reiterated that his ultimate goal was Ye Ming. The next day, Ye Qingchun, with the little cat (Xiao Hu) nestled in his arms, visited Jin Xingjian to express his gratitude for resolving the "demon crisis."
He showed off his "new pet," marveling at its rare patterns, similar to one he had seen in Europe. He fondly recalled having a cat as a child, which he eventually lost, and expressed how much he loved this new "treasure." Jin Xingjian, understanding the situation, gently stroked the cat's head, saying that animals are intelligent and remember kindness.
Later, as Ye Ming and Xiao Tao walked past Hua Xue Gallery after Ye Ming received her salary, Xiao Tao suggested shopping for a new dress, replacing the one damaged by Shasha. They chatted about candied haws, with Ye Ming vaguely recalling a trip to the capital long ago but not a specific shop called Xinyuanzhai. Jin Xingjian, watching them from inside Hua Xue Gallery, received a panicked report from Lian Xuan about suspected demon attacks in the city. Jin Xingjian, however, instructed him to remain silent as Ye Ming passed by, not wanting her to overhear their conversation.
