She claimed this formation was designed only to harm the Soul Reaping Beast, and that by eliminating his "wife's murderer" at the wedding, Qin Lie would bring peace to the soul of the fallen Ling Yushi. As the ceremony progressed with the traditional bows, Qin Lie, at the opportune moment, launched the Profound Heaven Seal. The formation rapidly took effect, and Qin Lie stood up to reveal the true identity of the bride. However, the situation twisted unexpectedly.

Just as the Soul Reaping Beast gloated over its success, the real Song Tingyu arrived with her forces at Ling Borough to capture it. Having been previously wounded in the Snow God Valley, the Soul Reaping Beast's spiritual energy was diminished, making its power equal to Song Tingyu’s. As they battled, Song Tingyu quickly surrounded Ling Borough with a new formation. Du Shao Yang, following Song Tingyu's orders, also enclosed the town, but the Ling Borough suffered heavy casualties.
Qin Lie realized that Song Tingyu was willing to sacrifice all the villagers to kill the Soul Reaping Beast, and that she was likely responsible for the massacres in thirty-three other villages.
Seeing through Du Shao Yang's ambition for power, Qin Lie negotiated with him, proposing a deceptive plan: since the Soul Reaping Beast hated both Qin Lie and Song Tingyu and enjoyed seeing them suffer, a staged conflict between the two would surely force the beast to reveal its true form. Du Shao Yang, watching from a distance, finally discerned the beast's true form, and the combined forces pursued it to the Silent Abyss.
Meanwhile, Qin Lie, having infused his Thunder Storage Jade Plate with more heavenly thunder power, was followed by Ling Yushi, who sensed the surge of thunder energy and knew of his location. Song Tingyu and her subordinates descended into the Silent Abyss. Within the abyss, a unique Soul Dispersing Barrier nullified the Soul Reaping Beast's illusion abilities. Song Tingyu and Liang Zhong attempted to trap the beast with an Eight Extreme Formation.
Unexpectedly, the Soul Reaping Beast cast the Ghost Fire Skull Formation upon itself, not only rendering it immune to their attacks but also causing it to level up. As they struggled to contend with the newly empowered beast, Qin Lie appeared, holding the Thunder Storage Jade Plate. He commanded Liang Zhong to escort Song Tingyu to safety, then unleashed devastating heavenly thunder to subdue the Soul Reaping Beast. The potent thunder struck both Qin Lie and the beast.
The Soul Reaping Beast was utterly annihilated, its essence dispersed, while Qin Lie was severely injured and coughed blood. As more thunder threatened to strike Qin Lie, Hua Yuxin suddenly leaped into the abyss, shielding Qin Lie, and was instantly consumed by the colossal lightning. Back in the Silent Abyss, Gao Yu returned to mourn his lost comrades. He found only scorched earth, a grim testament to the thunder's power, and no remains of Qin Lie or Hua Yuxin. Overwhelmed by regret for his perceived inadequacy and lateness, Gao Yu was suddenly confronted by the nearly dissipated Soul Reaping Beast. The beast, on the verge of fading completely, offered Gao Yu its sacred ring, forged from the lingering consciousness of the previous Evil God.
The beast recounted the Evil God's history as a protector of the Realm of Ruined Souls who fell in battle against the gods ten thousand years ago, and how its scattered remnants sought a new host. Tempting Gao Yu with promises of ultimate power to protect those he cherished and exact revenge, the beast urged him to accept the ring. Gao Yu, longing for strength, succumbed to the temptation, proclaiming his desire for power.
The Soul Reaping Beast, seeing Gao Yu perfectly don the sacred ring, expressed satisfaction, declaring him the ideal guardian for the Evil Race's spirits. Filled with newfound resolve, Gao Yu vowed revenge against all who had disregarded the lives of his brothers and the Ling family.
