The World of Fantasy Episode 4 Recap
> The World of Fantasy Recap
Ling Yushi stood silently, gazing at the distant snowy plains, despite it being her wedding day to Du Shao Yang. Inside Xingyun Pavilion, festive decorations adorned the hall, but her somber expression, along with her father Ling Cheng Ye's, contrasted sharply with the joyous crowd as Du Shao Yang led her down the aisle. As the ceremony neared its end, Ye Yang Qiu arrived with his men and a cup of wine.
He subtly questioned the Du family about Zhuo Qian's whereabouts, implying their involvement, and brought up Ling Yushi's past relationship with Qin Lie. Du Shao Yang quickly interjected, stating that Qin Lie, not anyone from the Ling family, was responsible for Zhuo Qian's death, and that he himself had gravely injured Qin Lie, ensuring his demise, thus avenging the Ye family.
Unconvinced, Ye Yang Qiu presented a "Break-off Wine," explaining it was brewed from the Flower of Laugh and Forget and Break Off Grass, meant to sever Ling Yushi's old affections and ensure a harmonious life with Du Shao Yang. He warned that without it, Ling Yushi might seek revenge, turning the wedding into a bloodshed. Du Shao Yang then forced Ling Yushi to drink it.
Though Ling Cheng Ye tried to intervene, Ling Yushi took the cup only to shatter it on the floor, defying Ye Yang Qiu. She challenged his claims, questioning the wine's power and asking if all human affections were subject to his control, and whether she would also suffer "break-up pain" if she were to fall in love with Du Shao Yang.
Before Ye Yang Qiu could respond, a scout burst in, announcing that Qin Lie was riding a frostwolf, coming to take the bride. Hearing Qin Lie was alive, Ling Yushi attempted to rush out but Du Shao Yang forcefully pulled her back and locked her in a room. Qin Lie appeared in the hall, his hands crackling with lightning, his power making the onlookers hesitate.
Ling Cheng Ye was ecstatic, realizing Qin Lie had not perished in the snow but had instead broken through to the Natal Opening Realm, a level capable of confronting Du Shao Yang. As Du Shao Yang tried to deflect blame onto the Ling family for Zhuo Qian's death, Qin Lie produced the Profound Heaven Badge. Declaring himself a Profound Heaven Emissary, his status instantly outranked all the Bluestone-class forces present.
Both Ye Yang Qiu and Du Jun, Du Shao Yang's father, had no choice but to kneel. Du Jun made a show of disciplining his son, but Qin Lie, seeing through the act, ordered the immediate cancellation of the marriage between the Du and Ling families, forbidding the Du family from further troubling the Lings, and stating he would not interfere in their internal power struggles.
Ye Yang Qiu, still probing, questioned Qin Lie about the massacre and Zhuo Qian’s death. Qin Lie fabricated a story, claiming a Soul Reaping Beast was responsible for both, and that he was rescued and given the Profound Heaven Badge by two Saintesses from the Profound Heaven Alliance and Eight Extremes Temple for his service in vanquishing the beast.
When Ye Yang Qiu questioned the absence of the Saintesses, Qin Lie condescendingly explained the hierarchy of powers in the Spirit Realm, implying Ye Yang Qiu, as a Bluestone-class elder, was beneath such an explanation. Qin Lie further speculated that he and the Du family might have colluded to murder Zhuo Qian and conspire for the position of Xingyun Pavilion master. This blunt retort silenced Ye Yang Qiu, who humbled himself. Qin Lie then definitively declared the Du-Ling marriage canceled.
Inside her room, Ling Yushi confronted Qin Lie, who confirmed that he had used the truth of the Ye family's murder to secure her freedom. He was eager to take her back to Ling Borough but was taken aback when she pressed him about his future plans, asking if he intended to marry her after taking her by force.
Ling Yushi then produced his old wish note, a paper containing his grand ambition to ascend to the highest and farthest reaches of the Spirit Realm, a dream that excluded her. She admitted she was willing to be his "shadow," but never expected him to return, let alone disrupt her marriage. Overwhelmed with emotion, she tearfully asked him why he had come for her if she wasn't part of his aspirations.
Qin Lie was left speechless until Hua Yuxin, interrupting them with food, chastised him for his insensitivity, explaining that Ling Yushi had bravely confessed her feelings and his response was profoundly hurtful. Hua Yuxin, drawing from his own experiences with Ling Xuanxuan, emphasized the importance of understanding a woman's emotions. Meanwhile, Gao Huang'er, Gao Yu's sister, pressed her brother to actively pursue Ling Yushi.
She had gone to great lengths to ensure the Ling family stayed for a night, creating an opportunity for him. Despite Gao Yu's loyalty to Qin Lie and his reluctance to compete for Ling Yushi or snatch his nephew's bride, Gao Huang'er argued that Qin Lie was oblivious to love and would not be hurt if Gao Yu claimed Ling Yushi.
She warned that Ling Yushi, if left to her own devices, might spend her life in unrequited love for Qin Lie, making Gao Yu's heart waver. Qin Lie, contemplating the dim moonlight in Xingyun Pavilion, was approached by Du Shao Yang, who acknowledged Qin Lie's ambition to reach higher realms. Du Shao Yang, seeking to resolve their ongoing animosity, presented an enticing offer: access to the Xingyun Pavilion's Armoury and an introduction to Master Yao, a renowned artefact forging master.
Qin Lie, eager to enhance his forging skills, accepted. Ling Cheng Ye and other Ling family members expressed concern about Qin Lie staying at Xingyun Pavilion, but Gao Yu reassured them that Qin Lie's status as a Profound Heaven Emissary would deter the Du family from any immediate hostile actions. Ling Yushi, understanding Qin Lie's lofty ambitions, decided to stay in Xingyun Pavilion herself, hoping to remain by his side.
She shared her decision with Qin Lie, admitting her fear during the coerced marriage and her relief at his arrival. While touched by her devotion, Qin Lie, still focused on his path, could only watch her leave. Qin Lie began his training in The Armoury under Master Yao, entering seclusion for three days. Ling Yushi meticulously prepared meals for him, but Gao Yu, intercepting her efforts, insisted on delivering the food himself.
For three days, Gao Yu secretly ate all of Ling Yushi's cooking, never letting it reach Qin Lie. His sister, Gao Huang'er, chastised him for eating "leftovers," urging him to seize the opportunity to win Ling Yushi. Unfazed, Gao Yu continued his deception, returning an empty bowl to Ling Yushi, claiming Qin Lie had devoured the meal and asked for more. Ling Yushi, having grown suspicious, revealed she had intentionally added seasoning Qin Lie disliked to the food.
Gao Yu's lie was exposed, and he admitted Qin Lie was too engrossed in training to eat, and that he had been secretly eating her food to make her happy. He then tried to sow discord by suggesting Qin Lie was too preoccupied to even remember her, contrasting this with her unwavering devotion. Ling Yushi firmly stated that her heart belonged only to Qin Lie.
Seeing her unyielding resolve, Gao Yu confessed his deep affection for her, realizing his efforts to "take advantage of the situation" had failed before he could even properly articulate them. Ling Yushi, sensing a lightness in his tone, believed he had moved past his infatuation and that they could remain friends. However, as Gao Yu departed, his friendly smile faded, replaced by a somber and frustrated expression, hinting that his feelings remained unresolved.
Inside The Armoury, Qin Lie was awestruck by the dedicated artefact forgers. Master Yao instructed him to begin. Closing his eyes and focusing, Qin Lie was astounded to see the intricate patterns he had dreamt of for over a decade materialize before him. Master Yao recognized these as Spiritual Arrays, the fundamental basis of artefact forging, through which spiritual energy is imbued into weapons. Qin Lie explained he had experienced these dreams nightly since he was ten.
He then inquired if Master Yao knew his grandfather, Qin Shan, who had disappeared thirteen years prior after using his forging skills to help Ling Borough repel spirit beasts. Master Yao, however, had never heard of Qin Shan, lamenting the rarity of artefact forgers on Chilan Continent. He revealed his own origins from the Artefact Forging Sect, described as the sacred hall of armourers and a repository of ultimate spirit materials, holding half of Chilan Continent's wealth.
Master Yao advised Qin Lie that if he wished to find his grandfather, he should seek answers at the Artefact Forging Sect, emphasizing that entry required self-reliance and skill. This encounter gave the previously aimless Qin Lie a clear and compelling goal.
