Yang Yi confessed to Master Hua, Hua Tianqiong, that the mission he was carrying out under the Master of Heaven's orders had failed due to his incompetence. Master Hua expressed his disappointment, stating that it was easy to die but difficult to find a remedy, and announced that his people would help. He then summoned Hua Yuxing to tie up loose ends. Meanwhile, Yiyuan, while still unconscious, found himself back in the illusion, watching a strange child appear before him.
Qin Lie returned to the Nether Realm underground with Ling Yushi. He instructed Xie Jingxuan and Du Shaoyang to protect Ling Yushi while he ventured alone into the center of the Purple Mist Sea to find Night Fairy. Upon locating Night Fairy, Qin Lie realized she had protected him when Ling Yushi tried to assassinate him.
Night Fairy, however, was unwilling to reveal anything about the events of ten thousand years ago, only stating that it would not do him any good to know too much and that she did not want him to awaken first or learn the past. Qin Lie, acknowledging her past suffering as Gong Mulie's companion and mentor, pleaded with her to spare Ling Yushi.
Night Fairy responded with deep concern, revealing that Du Shaoyang was now beyond her control and the future was unpredictable. Realizing that Du Shaoyang was the real traitor, Qin Lie grew worried and rushed back to the Nether Realm underground. In the Nether Realm, Du Shaoyang attempted to summon the ancient Voodoo Insects left by the Voodoo Master, declaring himself the Voodoo Master's chosen successor and new leader of the Voodoo Cult, but his efforts failed.
Unbeknownst to him, Xie Jingxuan had been secretly observing him and was shocked by his transformation. She fled the scene but was intercepted by Du Shaoyang. Feigning composure, Xie Jingxuan agreed to go with him to a tavern, reminiscing about their old relationship and the times she had danced for him. Xie Jingxuan then drank a glass of poisoned wine, intending to share it with Du Shaoyang, but he detected the poison and pushed her away.
She accused him of changing due to jealousy, while he blamed others for favoring Qin Lie. Remembering their past affection, Du Shaoyang chose not to harm her, but warned her that if she ever crossed him again, he would kill her. Du Shaoyang soon encountered Qin Lie in the Purple Mist Sea. Qin Lie, enraged by Du Shaoyang's repeated betrayals—first for Nebula Pavilion, then for the Human Race, and now for his own ambition and envy—was about to attack.
However, Hua Tianqiong intervened with his spiritual power, allowing Du Shaoyang to escape. Xie Jingxuan, heartbroken, pursued Du Shaoyang. Hua Tianqiong reported his progress to the Master of Heaven, deliberately omitting the whereabouts of the second volume of the Scripture of the Nine Hells. After the Master of Heaven departed, Hua Yuxing appeared, informing his father that Du Shaoyang had escaped with Xie Jingxuan in pursuit, and that Duan Qianjie had also returned, seemingly interested in Xie Jingxuan.
Hua Tianqiong immediately ordered the execution of Duan Qianjie. Du Shaoyang returned to the underground where the Voodoo Insect warned him that his heart still harbored feelings of love, which was an obstacle to inheriting the Voodoo Master's power. To prove his resolve, Du Shaoyang found Ling Yushi and awakened the Voodoo Insect within her, planning to steal her Scripture of the Nine Hells. However, Xie Jingxuan stopped him. Du Shaoyang then feigned remorse, attempting to reconcile with Xie Jingxuan.
As she approached, he suddenly drew a blade and lunged at her. Sensing his murderous intent, Xie Jingxuan bravely caught the blade with her bare hand. Before her sorrow could fully set in, Duan Qianjie abruptly appeared and stabbed Du Shaoyang. It was revealed that Duan Qianjie needed to comprehend "love" to achieve his awakening, and recognizing Xie Jingxuan as his "love tribulation," he had come to protect her.
Despite Du Shaoyang's betrayal, Xie Jingxuan was devastated to see him wounded and fleeing. She pursued him relentlessly until he was carried away by a Voodoo Insect. Qin Lie and his companions awoke to find themselves in Ling Borough, where they were shocked to see Uncle Hua, whom they believed to be dead. Hua Tianqiong, still in disguise as Uncle Hua, feigned ignorance, claiming that Qin Shan had saved him and entrusted him to house them in Ling Borough to protect them from the Gold rank force. Qin Lie pressed him for Qin Shan's whereabouts, but "Uncle Hua" claimed to know nothing.
He then abruptly struck Qin Lie, knocking him unconscious.
