Liu Yixuan regained consciousness in the collapsed mountain cave. He immediately asked about Shen Lige, and Adjutant Ji informed him that she had gone alone to confront Lu Yuan. Liu Yixuan then inquired about the Danyang reinforcement troops, learning that Grand Consort Sun had issued an order for them to return to their encampment. Despite the urgency to find Shen Lige, Liu Yixuan first prioritized rescuing the people trapped in the cave.

Meanwhile, Shen Lige, furious and with her poison worsening, tried to chase and kill Lu Yuan but failed. She could only watch as her brother fell into the enemy's trap. Lu Yuan acknowledged her persistence in trying to kill him and discovering his hidden foundry.

Observing her weakened state due to poison, Lu Yuan cruelly told her he would spare her life for now so she could witness the grand trap he had set, which ensnared Shen Zhi (and implicitly, her father). Shen Lige was furious. Just as the trap closed, Chen Shaoxun and Kong Cheng arrived and quickly took the unconscious Shen Lige away, recognizing she had been poisoned. Meanwhile, at the foundry, Shen Zhi found his father, General Shen Tingzhang, on the ground.

Upon Shen Tingzhang waking, he discovered over four thousand weapons engraved with the Suiyuan Army totem and immediately realized they had been framed. As they tried to leave, Lu Yuan arrived with the Commandant of Justice, apprehending the Shen father and son with what appeared to be irrefutable evidence. Despite their protests of innocence, Lu Yuan dismissed their claims. Liu Yikang soon arrived, feigning surprise at the Shens' involvement, having supposedly heard rumors of Lu Yuan's activities.

He ordered the Shen father and son to be temporarily imprisoned by the Commandant of Justice, instructing them to thoroughly investigate the black iron's whereabouts and search for any witnesses. Privately, Liu Yikang discussed the case with the Commandant of Justice. The Commandant, who deeply respected General Shen Tingzhang's loyalty, admitted the case had many flaws and he couldn't jump to conclusions. He promised impartiality but noted the Shens' dire situation, as finding evidence of their innocence would be difficult.

He warned that if no conclusive proof was found, he would have to apply the law strictly. Liu Yikang, however, was resolute, declaring he would not allow another loyal servant to die and instructed the Commandant to stall for time while he investigated the matter thoroughly. During this time, Shen Leqing met with Lu Yuan.

She thanked him for his praise and agreed to another task for him, but only after he guaranteed her safety and ensured she wouldn't be implicated in such a grave crime that could lead to the extermination of three families. Lu Yuan promised her protection. He then asked if Shen Lige had returned to the manor, expressing surprise when told she had.

Back at the Shen manor, Shen Feng was furious and wanted to confront Liu Yikang or even storm the palace. Wang Zijin intercepted him, firmly explaining that such impulsive actions would only play into their enemies' hands, confirm the treasonous charges, and completely destroy the Shen family's loyal reputation. Shen Madam, worried about Wang Zijin's involvement, urged her to leave.

However, Wang Zijin, recalling Shen Zhi's promise to marry her, declared herself part of the Shen family and resolved to stay, care for Shen Madam, and await their safe return, believing in their innocence. She dismissed concerns about her reputation, stating that helping those in need was a noble virtue. Still searching for Shen Lige without success, Liu Yixuan instructed Huo Yun to find a safe place for the village craftsmen, fearing Lu Yuan would target them next.

He then confronted Grand Consort Sun, demanding to know why she had ordered the Danyang troops to retreat. Grand Consort Sun explained that she did it to protect him, reminding him that privately mobilizing an army was a treasonous crime and that his reckless actions would lead to his own downfall. Unconvinced and determined to eradicate Lu Yuan, Liu Yixuan then sought out Liu Yikang, pressing him on his plans for the imprisoned Shen father and son.

Instead of answering, Liu Yikang reprimanded Liu Yixuan for his unauthorized use of the Danyang troops, expressing his disappointment. Shen Lige remained deeply comatose for several days due to the potent and unknown poison. Chen Shaoxun could only manage to suppress its effects, not cure it. Witnessing her suffering and the recent deaths of their fellow disciples, Kong Cheng pleaded with Chen Shaoxun to abandon their quest for revenge and leave with Shen Lige, simply trying to survive.

In prison, despite the Commandant of Justice's care which spared them from torture, Shen Tingzhang and Shen Zhi discussed their predicament. Shen Tingzhang comforted his son, assuring him that as long as they were upright, they needn't fear, and Prince Peng Cheng was gathering evidence to soon clear their names. He then pondered Shen Lige's mysterious entanglement with Lu Yuan and her current whereabouts, fearing for her safety.

Shen Zhi asked his father why he hadn't revealed Shen Lige's presence at Qixia Mountain to Liu Yikang. Shen Tingzhang explained that with Shen Lige about to marry into Prince Peng Cheng's household, revealing her involvement would be a grave risk. Lu Yuan would undoubtedly exploit the information, potentially jeopardizing the vital alliance between Liu Yikang and the Shen family. He emphasized the need to avoid further complications in their already unfavorable situation.

That night, Shen Leqing secretly entered the study, placing incriminating documents as instructed by Lu Yuan. Shortly after, Wang Zijin, hearing a sound, came to investigate. Shen Leqing, pretending to have just arrived and also concerned, explained she was there to pray for her father and brother. Wang Zijin, accepting her explanation, commented on Shen Leqing's attentiveness, and Shen Leqing expressed her anxiety about her father and brother.

Wang Zijin reassured her and dismissed Shen Leqing's feigned concern about her reputation, stating that treating others with sincerity and acting with courtesy was the virtue of a noblewoman. The next morning, Lu Yuan and the Commandant of Justice arrived at the Shen manor with an Imperial Decree to search Shen Tingzhang's study and confiscate all documents. Shen Feng was outraged, attempting to stop the search, but Wang Zijin restrained him, warning against escalating the situation.

Wang Zijin then boldly challenged Lu Yuan, accusing him of publicly humiliating the Shen family by overstepping the decree's scope, which only authorized seizure of documents, not a public spectacle. She deemed him unworthy to even utter the name of her esteemed Wang family. However, during the search, a stack of official accounts was "found," detailing the Shen family's alleged income and expenditures from privately forging weapons over the years.

With this new "evidence," Lu Yuan smugly declared he would seek a ruling from Liu Yikang. Inside the manor, Shen Feng was beside himself with rage, questioning who had planted the fabricated books overnight. Shen Leqing subtly tried to shift suspicion onto Wang Zijin, mentioning she had seen her in the study the previous night. Wang Zijin calmly clarified that she had entered the study to investigate a noise and then encountered Shen Leqing.

Shen Madam, trusting Wang Zijin, quickly diffused the tension, urging the family to remain united against Lu Yuan. Just then, a weak Shen Lige returned to the manor, accompanied by Liu Yixuan, who was now aware of the search. Shen Madam tearfully embraced her daughter, describing the recent misfortunes. Shen Lige, despite her fragile state, assured her mother she would find a way to save her father and brother.

As Shen Madam pleaded with Liu Yixuan to help General Shen, Shen Lige suddenly collapsed again, unconscious. The summoned physician confirmed she was suffering from a potent, unknown poison and might not survive much longer. Shen Madam was utterly devastated, questioning why all these calamities were befalling the Shen family. Amidst the chaos, Shen Leqing discreetly noticed something unusual about Shen Lige's hand.
