The Journey of Legend Episode 10 Recap
> The Journey of Legend Recap
Li Chenzhou recalled an incident from years ago when Yan Kuangtu single-handedly held both the Hero Token and the Book of Oblivion. The three major sects had besieged him but failed to inflict any harm. Only after someone struck him with a hidden weapon in the neck did Yan Kuangtu retreat and disappear.
Li Chenzhou then examined the Hero Token Liu Suifeng had presented, noting that the genuine token, forged by the Shaolin, Wudang, and Emei leaders, should bear their fingerprints. Upon inspection, Liu Suifeng confirmed the token was indeed a fake, lacking any such imprints. He immediately suspected Xiao Qiushui, who had, in fact, suggested to Madam Wu a plan to use a counterfeit token after Qiu Bo's betrayal.
Other Power Gang members, dismayed by Liu Suifeng's failure and the loss of disciples, demanded his punishment. However, Li Chenzhou defended Liu Suifeng, attributing the mistake to an oversight due to his many years of arduous work. He then assigned Sword King to investigate the Hero Token's true whereabouts alongside Liu Suifeng. Liu Suifeng vowed to reclaim the token and seek forgiveness from his master.
Xiao Qiushui, still consumed by grief and guilt over Tang Rou's death and his inability to prevent betrayals, sought solace in drink at a pavilion. Tang Fang found him there and expressed her gratitude for him rescuing her. Xiao Qiushui lamented his perceived failures, regretting his inability to protect Tang Rou and prevent friends from turning against him. Tang Fang reassured him, saying he shouldn't blame himself, as the martial world was treacherous and one person couldn't control everything.
She shared her deep understanding of why Tang Rou had trusted Xiao Qiushui so profoundly and declared their shared mission to avenge Tang Rou against the Power Gang. Madam Wu informed Xiao Qiushui that Mr. Zhang, despite his severe injuries, had managed to secure the genuine Hero Token. She also conveyed Mr. Zhang's profound admiration for Xiao Qiushui's righteousness and his desire to take him as a disciple, presenting Xiao Qiushui with Mr. Zhang's personal dagger.
Madam Wu then offered to deploy General Wu Zhe's cavalry to rescue the besieged Xiao family. Xiao Qiushui, however, vehemently refused, arguing that involving imperial troops in a martial world dispute would lead to unnecessary conflict, harm innocent civilians in Jin City, and invite further suspicion upon General Wu Zhe from the imperial court.
Instead, he requested Madam Wu to send a swift messenger to his eldest brother, Xiao Yiren, at Guangling Villa, while he would personally seek aid from the various sects in Jinzhong. Madam Wu agreed to dispatch the messenger. On a full moon night, Song Mingzhu brought Pine Stone Pills for Liu Suifeng's recovery, but he curtly instructed her to focus solely on her duties and not to entertain any personal feelings for him.
Shortly after, Zhao Shirong visited Liu Suifeng, advising him against rash actions and taking on too many responsibilities, especially after using the Turtle Snake Thunder Sting Technique which had severely taxed his body. She also provided him with some Pine Stone Pills. Once Zhao Shirong departed, Liu Suifeng, suspecting the Hero Token's connection to the Xiao family through Madam Wu, immediately ordered Song Mingzhu to relaunch the investigation, focusing on Madam Wu's associations.
Xiao Qiushui's sleep was disturbed by another dream of Tang Rou. Upon waking, he found a brocade pouch containing a message: "Mission Three: Redeem Liu Suifeng." He dismissed it as a cruel joke, finding the idea of "redeeming" the Power Gang's formidable Vice Leader an impossible task. Recognizing the unpredictable nature of the martial world, he resolved to prioritize rescuing his family and securing his position as sect leader to regain control of his own fate.
To avoid further endangering anyone, he quietly purchased a carriage and departed alone for Jinzhong. He left a message for Tang Fang, urging her to return to the Tang Sect for her safety, promising to reunite once he had avenged Tang Rou and resolved his family's crisis. On his journey to Jinzhong, Xiao Qiushui encountered bandits. During the ensuing skirmish, Tang Fang swiftly arrived and helped him subdue the attackers.
Upset that he had left without a word, she confronted him. Xiao Qiushui explained his desire to protect her by keeping her out of his dangerous quest, especially after losing Tang Rou. Tang Fang, however, adamantly refused to leave, reminding him of his own principle of righteousness and her commitment to avenging her brother, stating she would not leave any debts unpaid. She compelled the defeated bandits to pull their carriage.
Later, as they camped in the forest, Tang Fang recounted a poignant childhood memory of Tang Rou bringing her leftover food when she was punished, noting the similar comforting gesture. Xiao Qiushui then introduced her to the concept of constellations, theorizing that Tang Rou was a Libra, characterized by gentleness, righteousness, and loyalty, while Tang Fang herself was an Aries, stubborn and reckless yet fiercely brave.
He gave her a stone engraved with the Libra symbol, suggesting she keep it as if Tang Rou were always with her. Song Mingzhu reported to Liu Suifeng that Xiao Qiushui and Madam Wu had parted ways, with Tang Fang now accompanying Xiao Qiushui. Liu Suifeng surmised that Xiao Qiushui likely possessed the real Hero Token and would attempt to gather support from local sects. He confidently predicted that these sects, fearing the Power Gang's might, would refuse.
Realizing Tang Fang’s involvement, Liu Suifeng instructed Song Mingzhu to exploit Tang Song, a Tang family member known for currying favor with the Power Gang, by offering him incentives to cooperate. Meanwhile, Xiao Qiushui's attempts to enlist aid from various Jinzhong sects proved futile, as none dared to openly defy the Power Gang. With few options left, and despite his initial reluctance to involve them, Tang Fang proposed they return to her own Tang Sect.
She argued that the crisis facing the Xiao family today could eventually threaten the Tang Sect as well, and she believed she could persuade her father to assist. Xiao Qiushui agreed to try. Upon their arrival at the Tang Sect, a servant directed Tang Fang to an inner room to meet her father alone, while Xiao Qiushui waited in the main hall. This proved to be a trap orchestrated by Tang Song and his sibling Tang Qing.
Tang Song, addressing Tang Fang as "Seventeenth Sister," vehemently accused her of meddling in the Power Gang's affairs by bringing an outsider to seek aid, claiming she planned to exploit the Tang Sect's influence to save the Xiao family.
He revealed that he had intercepted a private letter from Tang Fang to their father and further stated he had received intelligence from the Power Gang confirming that the Xiao family's troubles stemmed from the Hero Token, which he believed Xiao Qiushui possessed. Tang Song then propositioned Tang Fang, threatening to expose her alleged transgressions to the Tang matriarch unless she agreed to marry him.
He smugly announced that Xiao Qiushui had been captured, intending to search him for the Hero Token and solidify Tang Fang's guilt. Concurrently, Deng Yuhan returned to the Hairin Sword Sect in Qianxi, seeking his father's help for the Xiao family. Instead of support, he was met with a stern rebuke for associating with Xiao Qiushui and risking the entire clan's involvement in a conflict with the Power Gang.
Deng Yuhan passionately reminded his father of the Hairin Sword Sect's founding principles of justice and righteousness, recalling his father's past camaraderie with Master Xiao and their shared adventures. Despite his emotional plea, his father remained resolute in his refusal to intervene, dismissing the matter as beyond his son's concern. When Deng Yuhan declared his intention to aid the Xiao family alone, his father ordered him to be stopped.
