Ji Feng didn't hesitate, rushing to his side to perform the Heimlich maneuver. After several firm thrusts, the obstruction was finally dislodged. Aming, visibly shaken, admitted that he felt as though his life had just flashed before his eyes.
Concerned for the elderly man's health, Ji Feng insisted that he be taken to the hospital for a thorough check-up. With Aming gone, the band was left one musician short. Daniel was filled with anxiety about how they could possibly proceed without a rehearsal with a replacement, but Ji Feng assured him that he would handle the situation. As the guests began to arrive, Xu Miyu took charge of the foyer.
Among the attendees were Jiang Zhichun and Chairwoman Wei, the latter expressing skepticism about whether the elderly band members could maintain their pitch. However, the mood shifted when Ji Feng stepped onto the stage in full performance attire. Picking up a saxophone, he joined Daniel’s band and delivered a masterful jazz performance. Jiang Zhichun was particularly impressed, capturing numerous photos of Ji Feng and later presenting him with a bouquet of flowers on stage.
Following the successful event, Ji Feng invited Xu Miyu to the restaurant and introduced her to Jiang Zhichun. After Jiang Zhichun departed, Ji Feng asked for Xu Miyu’s honest opinion on the restaurant’s pastries. Xu Miyu didn’t hold back, noting that while the presentation was acceptable, the flavor was mediocre. Ji Feng agreed, seeing it as an opportunity to upgrade the venue into a high-end jazz space. He proposed holding performances every Friday.
Despite the risks associated with the band's advanced age, Xu Miyu argued that with proper management, their seniority could be a unique selling point. Confident in her insight, Ji Feng officially asked Xu Miyu to manage the weekly jazz events, telling her sincerely that he needed her expertise. However, Xu Miyu’s rising influence sparked resentment. When the news of her dual role reached the staff, Lu Xiaoyan’s jealousy boiled over.
During a shift, Lu Xiaoyan spitefully threw Xu Miyu’s original documents onto the floor. Rather than escalating the conflict, Xu Miyu quietly picked them up to finish her work. Later, Lu Xiaoyan cornered Director Bai in the parking garage, complaining that her years of loyalty were being overlooked. Director Bai countered by pointing out that Xu Miyu’s work was flawless and that she had the General Manager’s backing.
He warned Lu Xiaoyan that if he lost his own standing by opposing Ji Feng, there would be no one left to protect her. As renovations began on the restaurant space, Duan Aoxiang arrived to conduct an inspection. He was critical of the service and warned Ji Feng that the board viewed the jazz project as a flashy but impractical distraction. Ji Feng remained unmoved, stating he was simply fulfilling his duties as General Manager.
Back in his office, Xue Rui informed Ji Feng that Jiang Zhichun wanted to meet again. Knowing Jiang Zhichun’s intentions, Xue Rui asked if Ji Feng already had someone else in his heart, but Ji Feng remained silent. That evening, Jiang Zhichun arrived at the hotel to pick up Ji Feng for dinner. While waiting in the lobby, she handed Xu Miyu a cup of milk tea as a "fan benefit" and asked why young people loved the drink.
Xu Miyu suggested that milk tea conveys sweetness and is an "agreeable" beverage that goes with everything. Jiang Zhichun was impressed by the answer just as Ji Feng joined them, and the two left together. During dinner, Jiang Zhichun showed Ji Feng her new book and expressed a desire to hold her book signing at Purong Hotel. Ji Feng immediately agreed. Their conversation was briefly interrupted by fans who recognized them from online videos.
The fans wondered if the two were dating, which Ji Feng quickly denied. On the drive back, Jiang Zhichun brushed off the encounter, explaining that being "shipped" with a handsome partner only increased her traffic. As the day of the signing arrived, Jiang Zhichun was thrilled with the blue and white decorations. The event drew a massive crowd, creating a chaotic environment. While Xu Miyu was busy managing the fans, Ji Feng noticed her limping. Seeing that she had injured her foot in the bustle, Ji Feng stepped in to help, instructing her to lift her foot and lean on his shoulder for support.
