> The Comic Bang Recap

Everyone felt sorry for Ye Qi. Chai Ziyu decided to go buy some figurines to lift the mood, Jiang Ruosong went to find Zhou Jieyue, while Gu Zhengxing pretended to be indifferent, claiming he had faced many setbacks before and this didn’t affect him much—but in reality, he was deeply troubled. When Gu Zhengxing returned to the drama club, he couldn’t concentrate.

Lu Dao decided to modify the script and perform it for Gu Zhengxing, but he wasn’t in the mood to watch and brushed off Lu Dao’s suggestions. However, Lu Dao remained confident, which brought great comfort to Gu Zhengxing. Jiang Ruosong wanted to join the music club, but the members rejected him because he wasn’t a good singer. He even brought Zhou Jieyue along—his real intention was just to seek some emotional comfort from her.

Meanwhile, Zuo Qiandai was still worried about Ye Qi and eventually found Chai Ziyu, asking him to take her to Ye Qi’s parents. At first, Chai Ziyu was hesitant, but when Zuo Qiandai took out a figurine he liked, he happily agreed. When Zuo Qiandai arrived at Ye Qi’s home, she was nervous and unsure how to face his parents and whether they would accept her. However, it was Ye Qi’s younger brother who answered the door—his parents weren’t home.

After meeting Ye Qi, Zuo Qiandai learned some things about the editorial department from him. To encourage Ye Qi, she changed into a sailor outfit she had carefully prepared. Her encouragement reignited Ye Qi’s fighting spirit, and he decided to take down Qian Ye. While Zuo Qiandai was dancing for Ye Qi, she didn’t notice that Ye Qi’s parents were right behind her.

They had also learned about Ye Qi’s current situation and believed that Qian Ye was bullying their son. While everyone discussed it over dinner, Ye Qi’s parents gave their input, but even after the meal, they couldn’t come up with a good plan for revenge. Zuo Qiandai suggested that taking revenge on others was wrong in itself, so they changed the topic. Since Ye Qi had left the editorial department, he needed a comeback.

He couldn’t use any of the previous comics because of the contract, and the original material was also unusable. Zuo Qiandai suggested changing the theme of the meeting to focus on what kind of comic Ye Qi should create for his comeback. Ye Qi’s father proposed a story about gangs, thinking it would be attractive, but after Ye Qi drew a draft, everyone thought it wasn’t appropriate.

His mother suggested a story about modern office workers, but when Ye Qi drew that, it didn’t inspire any interest either. Since it was about working people, it ended up feeling depressing. His younger brother suggested that Ye Qi return to his original passion—the comic he initially wanted to draw. However, Ye Qi had completely lost touch with that mindset. All his current inspiration was for shoujo manga, and he couldn’t recreate his past feelings, so he couldn’t draw it.

Ye Qi became upset and didn’t know what to do, so he decided to go out for a walk to clear his mind. Zuo Qiandai went with him, and the two of them walked along a riverside path in the countryside. The scenery was beautiful. As they walked, they unknowingly arrived at Ye Qi’s elementary school. Ye Qi wanted to go inside, but since it was nighttime, the gates were locked.

Fortunately, the security guard recognized him and warmly let Ye Qi and Zuo Qiandai in. They sat on the swings in the playground, chatting while swinging, and recalled Ye Qi’s original motivation for drawing comics. Back in elementary school, both of them had been outsiders—Ye Qi for being too tall and Zuo Qiandai for being too short. Because of their shared experiences, they understood each other’s feelings deeply.

Zuo Qiandai suggested that Ye Qi draw what he loved most in his heart. Ye Qi still couldn’t let go of shoujo manga. Zuo Qiandai encouraged him to start drawing again. Ye Qi was still struggling with the contract issue, thinking that since he had signed a non-compete agreement, he couldn’t just draw anything. Zuo Qiandai reminded him that he had already paid the penalty, and the rights to the comic had returned to him.
