Zuo Qiandai found out that Ye Qi was going to participate in the school sports meet. Worried that other girls might develop feelings for Ye Qi and snatch him away, she called her best friend. Lu Li was still unable to get into the acting mood and felt deeply guilty. Since it was already performance time, there was no way to find someone who both understood the script and had stage experience in such a short time.
So Ye Qi suggested that when Lu Li spoke, Lu Dao would sing to cover for her. Lu Dao then went to Zuo Qiandai and Zhou Jieyue for help practicing her singing. Lu Dao was very talented and sounded beautiful when she sang. Upon hearing her voice, Gu Zhengxing became very excited and immediately pushed open the door—only to find a girl standing by the door stuffing a light bulb into her mouth.
Everyone panicked and suggested going to the hospital immediately, but Zhou Jieyue was nonchalant, saying they could just take the light bulb out directly and even demonstrated herself. In the end, she went along to the hospital where the doctor helped remove it. After seeing the doctor, Gu Zhengxing, moved by Lu Dao’s beautiful voice, asked to hear her sing again. Lu Dao, claiming her throat had been affected from earlier, brushed him off.
The day of the performance finally arrived, and Ye Qi, Zuo Qiandai, and a few good friends came to watch Lu Dao. Her performance on stage amazed everyone. But just as Lu Li was about to perform, she suddenly felt unwell and fainted, causing everyone to panic. Zuo Qiandai, unaware of what was happening backstage, continued her lines onstage and waited for Lu Li’s cue to appear, but no one came out.
Everyone thought it was a stage mishap, and Lu Dao grew very anxious. After repeating the cue line several times, someone finally appeared—and to Lu Dao’s astonishment, it was Gu Zhengxing. Seeing that no one could take the part, Gu Zhengxing had taken it upon himself to step in. He had made up his mind never to let Lu Dao get hurt again.
Lu Dao was ready to bear the pain, even if it meant getting hurt for Gu Zhengxing’s sake. The performance was perfect and received unanimous praise from the audience. After the show, Lu Dao chatted with her sister and learned that Lu Li had pretended to faint on purpose. She knew that in an emergency like this, only Gu Zhengxing could step up. Since Lu Dao didn’t get hurt, Lu Li believed she was Gu Zhengxing’s destined one.
The next day, the school sports meet officially began. Afraid that Ye Qi would catch other girls' attention on the field, Zuo Qiandai deliberately made him drink lots of water. When Ye Qi went to the bathroom, she secretly swapped his shoes with a pair that was too small. The tight shoes made Ye Qi very uncomfortable, but he didn’t hesitate as he rushed to compete.
When he got to the starting line, the tight shoes made his feet hurt so badly that his odd movements looked professional to the onlooking girls. When the race began, his pace wasn’t great at first and his posture looked bizarre. But in an unexpected twist, trying to relieve his foot pain made Ye Qi pick up speed and surpass everyone, finishing first.
Many girls admired him and ran over to congratulate him, leaving Zuo Qiandai awkward and frustrated that her carefully laid plans had backfired. In other events, Zuo Qiandai also tried various tricks, but ironically they only drew more attention to Ye Qi.
