Zheng Baixu was diligently practicing, but Yang Zhenzhen immediately noticed his voice was cracking and unwell. She urged him to stop, suggesting Yu Zirui could sing if he was unable to. Zheng Baixu stubbornly retorted that if Yu Zirui could do it, so could he, dismissing her concerns. Unconvinced, Zhenzhen took him to Grandpa Gu's restaurant for an impartial evaluation.

After hearing Baixu sing, Grandpa Gu was blunt, criticizing his high notes and advising him to switch to an easier style like rap. He even half-jokingly recommended Baixu leave the music industry. Angered, Zheng Baixu insulted Grandpa Gu's cooking, claiming his music was beyond ordinary appreciation. Grandpa Gu retorted that Baixu's dream was merely "daydreaming" and handed him a "black card," signaling for him to leave. Back at the agency, Zhenzhen again suggested Baixu try rap.

Just then, Ke Xin arrived, surprising them both. She presented Baixu with an original hip-hop track she had recorded for him in the U. S. and playfully extracted a promise for a future meal as a reward. As Baixu listened to the track, Zhenzhen found herself mesmerized by how handsome he looked. She internally scolded herself for being so easily captivated, concluding a relationship with him was impossible.

Later, Zhenzhen received an anonymous email warning her to have Zheng Baixu's vocal cords checked at a hospital immediately. Meanwhile, Yu Zirui discussed his performance with Teacher Chang, who praised his character, calling him a "polished piece of jade" destined for success. Before the concert, backstage was chaotic with a shortage of makeup artists. Desperate, Yu Zirui tried to get help from Zheng Baixu's stylist, Xia Yuan, but she refused, citing professional etiquette.

Just before going on stage, a visibly unwell Zheng Baixu admitted his throat was bothering him and asked Yu Zirui to sing the main vocals while he provided backup. Yu Zirui graciously accepted. The performance was a resounding success. Afterward, reporters surrounded Yu Zirui, who humbly credited Zheng Baixu as his senior. Chen Tianhao seized the moment to officially introduce Yu Zirui, announcing the company would heavily promote him and that Star Entertainment's IPO application had been approved.

At the company's celebration party for Yu Zirui, Zhenzhen was absent, desperately trying to locate a missing Zheng Baixu. Yu Zirui watched her leave, understanding she was growing more distant. Zhenzhen eventually found Baixu and urged him to go to the hospital, but he refused. Instead, he took her to a racetrack and began driving at high speed. Impressed but undaunted, Zhenzhen challenged him to a bet: if she could drive better, he had to do one thing for her.

Zheng Baixu agreed. Zhenzhen took the wheel, and her expert driving skills astonished Baixu. She revealed that her father, a truck driver, had taught her and that she once saved his life by racing him to the hospital during an appendicitis attack. While Baixu playfully teased her, he was clearly impressed. With his mood improved, Zhenzhen reminded him of their bet and pressed him to get his vocal cords checked.

Accusing her of setting a trap, Baixu stubbornly refused, cheekily proclaiming "I'm a woman" to get out of his promise before driving off. Separately, Du Wanqing, feeling unwell, asked her husband Chen Tianhao to deliver health supplements to her father, Du Yuan. During the visit, Du Yuan again pressured Chen Tianhao to fire VP Ma. Chen Tianhao refused, explaining it would be a breach of contract and bad for the company's image before its IPO.

The argument escalated, with Du Yuan bringing up Chen Tianhao's past, accusing him of throwing a competition for money. Chen Tianhao admitted to losing for money but denied betraying his teacher. Chen Tianhao insisted his hard work was for his wife and daughter, but Du Yuan remained suspicious. He threatened to expose "problematic" information from Star Entertainment's founding account books to the CSRC, which would destroy the company's chance of going public.

Infuriated, Chen Tianhao declared that his family and company were more important than his life and that he would fight anyone who tried to take them away, even his father-in-law. As Chen Tianhao stormed out, Du Yuan collapsed from a heart attack. A subsequent call from the hospital confirmed that Du Yuan had passed away.
