The Brightest Star in the Sky Episode 15 Recap
> The Brightest Star in the Sky Recap
VP Du summoned Yang Zhenzhen to Star Entertainment, initially testing her by having her critique a song VP Du herself sang two decades prior. Impressed by Zhenzhen’s astute musical observations, the conversation shifted. Zhenzhen expressed concern about potential layoffs and apologized for her failure to secure Zheng Baixu for a fan live broadcast. VP Du reassured Zhenzhen, commending her for effectively managing the fans' disappointment and revealed that Zheng Baixu was no longer the company's main focus.
VP Du then inquired about Yu Zirui, having heard from Chang Ran that Zhenzhen was close to him. After Zhenzhen described the limitations of Blossom Entertainment, Yu Zirui's current company, VP Du stated her long-standing desire to sign him. She explained that with the company's artist lineup undergoing a significant restructuring, securing Yu Zirui to replace Zheng Baixu would be mutually beneficial. Loyal to her artist, Zhenzhen questioned Zheng Baixu's fate.
VP Du acknowledged the recent negative rumors but encouraged Zhenzhen to consider her own future. While the company was still debating whether to sell Zheng Baixu, it was certain he would no longer be a core artist. VP Du urged Zhenzhen to focus on bringing Yu Zirui to Star Entertainment, promising her a better opportunity regardless of Zheng Baixu’s situation. Meanwhile, Zheng Baixu aimlessly wandered the streets, bombarded by public chatter about his appearance and career.
His isolation deepened when he went to a restaurant and hallucinated a full conversation with Zhenzhen, imagining her playfully critiquing his stingy food order. Later, while watching a street performer, he again imagined Zhenzhen’s voice scolding him for not being charitable. This fantasy abruptly ended when he was recognized and mobbed by a few fans. Back at Blossom Entertainment, Zhenzhen anxiously sought out Yu Zirui.
Before she could broach the subject, he was hastily called away by his superior, Yang Jian. Zhenzhen waited until late in the evening for his return. He explained that a key investor, Sister Li, had abruptly pulled her funding from his MV project, citing his "coldness" towards her. This left Blossom Entertainment in severe financial distress and potentially facing legal action, though Yang Jian had vowed to protect him. Grateful for Zhenzhen's patience, Yu Zirui treated her to dinner.
There, Zhenzhen revealed Star Entertainment’s renewed interest in him with significantly more lenient contract terms. Yu Zirui quickly deduced that Star Entertainment was marginalizing Zheng Baixu and needed a replacement. He then proposed that if he were to join Star Entertainment, he would want Zhenzhen as his manager. Zhenzhen, though honored and admitting her ambition to cultivate artists, firmly stated she could not abandon Zheng Baixu at his lowest point.
Understanding her principled stance, Yu Zirui agreed they could work together once she had ensured Zheng Baixu was settled. Their conversation was interrupted by a public marriage proposal at a nearby table. Zhenzhen found the display heartwarming but also awkward, though she admired the proposer's courage. As a romantic atmosphere settled between them, Zheng Baixu called, asking Zhenzhen to come and pay his restaurant bill because he had forgotten his wallet.
Exasperated, Zhenzhen muttered about Zheng Baixu being the "bane of her existence" before reluctantly leaving to help him. Upon arriving, Zhenzhen paid the bill and urged Zheng Baixu to return to the company for a fan live broadcast, revealing she had promised his fans he would appear within three days. Zheng Baixu resisted, unwilling to follow company directives. In her frustration, Zhenzhen blurted out that the company was on the verge of giving up on him.
Though Zheng Baixu appeared indifferent, asking if she thought he couldn't survive without singing, Zhenzhen saw through his bravado. She told him she understood that being unable to sing would be devastating for him, a sentiment that visibly touched him. Just then, Zheng Baixu seized Zhenzhen's phone and saw a caring text from Yu Zirui. Consumed by jealousy, he mockingly called Yu Zirui "warm" and sent a rude, dismissive reply from her phone.
Zhenzhen was furious at this invasion of privacy and burst into tears, distraught that he had sabotaged her budding rapport with Yu Zirui. The next day, a somber Zhenzhen apologized to her superiors, Liu Yi'nan and Yu Hong, for failing to bring Zheng Baixu in for the live broadcast. After she left, a concerned Yu Hong remarked to Liu Yi'nan that Zhenzhen seemed dejected and had clearly tried her best.
Unbeknownst to them, Zheng Baixu initiated his own live broadcast from home. His unconventional approach—sharing tips on mopping and cooking before promising a new song—quickly garnered massive viewership, delighting Zhenzhen when she learned of it. Despite this success, company executive Ma Li'na insisted on selling him, arguing he was a high-risk artist. The CEO, Chen Tianhao, refused to sell at the low price offered, suggesting they "freeze" him instead.
Soon after, Zhenzhen was informed by Liu Yi'nan that she was being transferred back to the Publicity Department, as Zheng Baixu no longer required an assistant. Zhenzhen grew worried, realizing this was a clear sign the company was indeed giving up on him.
