Ten Years Late Episode 8 Recap
> Ten Years Late Recap
Feitu company employees engaged in an outdoor team confrontation, with teams led by Jin Ran and Ji Aoting. In the initial laser tag round, Jin Ran’s team gained an early advantage. However, when Yuan Lai, upset by Jin Ran’s targeting of a female teammate, removed her helmet to confront him, an opponent unexpectedly aimed at her. Jin Ran quickly protected Yuan Lai, resulting in his own elimination, and Ji Aoting's team took the lead for that round.
An official chided Yuan Lai for taking off her helmet during the game, but she retorted that it was none of his business. The competition then moved to archery, where Jin Ran and Ji Aoting were evenly matched. With a final, impressive 10-ring shot, Jin Ran secured a tie for his team, earning all participants an award. Meanwhile, Shen Shuangshuang tried to lift Zhao Chengzhi’s spirits by taking him to an arcade, where he initially enjoyed himself.
However, his mood soured abruptly when Fei sent him photos of Jin Ran and Yuan Lai together at the team-building event. Zhao Chengzhi became withdrawn, stating he had work to do and telling Shen Shuangshuang to take a taxi back to the company as he needed to leave. Shen Shuangshuang, who had only wanted to make him happy, felt her kindness was misunderstood.
Later, Wen Ya informed Yuan Lai that the disfigured girl's mother and brother had agreed to speak with the media to clear Feitu's name, likely due to the lawsuit threat. Yuan Lai, pleased by the news, then overheard Jin Ran on a phone call arranging a free plastic surgery quota for the girl through a friend at a clinic, which deeply touched her. Yuan Lai approached Jin Ran, who confirmed he was securing the quota.
Believing his actions stemmed from genuine goodwill, Yuan Lai went to share the good news with the family. Separately, Xinyi went to Ding Ang's company to return the U disk he had given her. She found Ding Ang's team taking promotional photos with a "gorgeous" female photographer who was openly flirting with him. Xinyi intervened, playfully expressing that Ding Ang seemed quite popular.
Ding Ang was happy to see her and asked if she had watched the U disk's contents and if she had any "feelings." Still under the impression that the U disk contained action movies, Xinyi defensively questioned why she should have any feelings and called him a "pervert," leaving Ding Ang utterly confused.
Back at Feitu, the positive news coverage about Jin Ran's handling of the disfigured girl's case earned him widespread praise among employees, though some still suspected it was a calculated PR move. That evening, Yuan Lai decided to go for a swim instead of joining her colleagues for dinner. At the gym, Jin Ran encountered Ji Aoting, who subtly advised him against rushing in his endeavors, hinting that opportunities, once missed, might not return.
Jin Ran, however, maintained his belief in persistence and seizing moments. Yuan Lai later overheard Jin Ran on the phone confirming that he had orchestrated the news report. She confronted him, accusing him of manipulating the girl's family and using the surgery offer as a PR stunt. Jin Ran defended his actions, explaining that as a manager, he had to consider Feitu's interests and that a win-win outcome benefited everyone.
Yuan Lai, however, remained convinced that he was self-serving and viewed people as tools, declaring she could not communicate with someone so focused on profit. Emotionally charged, she abruptly dove into the pool without warming up. Moments later, Jin Ran, who had started to walk away, had a sudden intuition and rushed back to find Yuan Lai unconscious due to a leg cramp. He rescued her and performed CPR, his mind replaying memories of their college romance.
After she recovered and thanked him, Jin Ran invited her for a walk on the beach the next morning. When she declined, he playfully threatened to loudly knock on her door if she didn't show up. He then earnestly declared, "Yuan Lai, this time, it's my turn to pursue you. I won't give up!" Yuan Lai left, visibly emotional. The next morning, Yuan Lai did appear, to Jin Ran's delight.
He confessed that he had returned for her and hoped they could restart their relationship. Yuan Lai, still wary, accused him of using company matters for personal gain. Jin Ran then shared a profound experience from a business trip in Sarasota, where he met an elderly man mourning his recently deceased wife and regretting unfulfilled travel dreams. This encounter made Jin Ran fear losing Yuan Lai and experiencing similar regrets.
He realized that true travel was about experiencing with one's heart, not just seeing sights. He proposed a new vision for Feitu, offering unique, heartfelt journeys, and invited Yuan Lai to help him build it. She agreed to cooperate professionally. Moved by his words, Jin Ran reached for her hand, but Yuan Lai, though affected, gently pulled away, unable to fully open up. He then asked her to watch the sunrise with him the following morning.
Later, Yuan Lai reported to Ji Aoting on Peixin Island's development, suggesting guesthouses over five-star hotels to allow tourists a more authentic experience, a view Ji Aoting supported, implicitly disagreeing with Jin Ran's approach. That night, Jin Ran brought Yuan Lai a jacket, concerned about the cold for their planned sunrise viewing. Yuan Lai discovered a necklace in the pocket and rushed to return it, only to overhear Jin Ran on a video call.
A young boy, Alex, called Jin Ran "Daddy," and Jin Ran asked Alex if he had been listening to his "mommy." Hearing this, Yuan Lai was utterly devastated. The next morning, Jin Ran waited for Yuan Lai, but she had already taken an early bus back to the company, ignoring his calls. Jin Ran learned of her departure from Ji Aoting. Soon after, he overheard hotel staff discussing a severe bus accident on the highway from Mountain Dai to Shanghai.
Overcome with worry, he sped to the scene. Police prevented him from entering the cordoned-off area. Spotting a severely injured, blood-covered woman resembling Yuan Lai, Jin Ran frantically tried to push through, claiming she was his girlfriend. Just as he was being restrained, he heard Yuan Lai call his name from nearby. Overwhelmed with relief and joy, he rushed to her and embraced her. Meanwhile, Shen Shuangshuang had been playfully taking many photos of Zhao Chengzhi, much to his embarrassment.
He became alarmed when he saw the news report about the bus accident and rushed out, worried about Yuan Lai. After Yuan Lai was found safe, Jin Ran asked her why she had left so suddenly. Yuan Lai candidly replied that she couldn't move past what had happened five years ago and did not want any relationship with him beyond that of colleagues, pushing his hand away. Jin Ran was perplexed by her sudden coldness.
Zhao Chengzhi, after calling Jin Ran for Yuan Lai's location, arrived with Shen Shuangshuang and helped escort Yuan Lai home. Shen Shuangshuang, still clinging to Zhao Chengzhi despite his attempts to send her away, continued to annoy him. At Yuan Lai's doorstep, Jin Ran tried to express concern for her injury, but she remained cold and dismissive. Zhao Chengzhi playfully teased Jin Ran about his romantic woes, while Shen Shuangshuang remained optimistically attached to Zhao Chengzhi.
Later, Jin Ran and Zhao Chengzhi met at a boxing gym. Zhao Chengzhi playfully teased Jin Ran about his "sad face" and then casually mentioned that Yuan Lai had gone to Japan to find Jin Ran years ago, and he thought they would have married there. Jin Ran was stunned, revealing he had never seen her in Japan.
He recounted that while working illegally in Japan, he was detained after being framed for theft by a colleague he had reported for stealing. After being bailed out, he was so disillusioned that he returned to China, only to encounter Yuan Lai and Zhao Chengzhi seemingly together. Zhao Chengzhi vehemently denied any romantic involvement with Yuan Lai at the time and, realizing the profound misunderstanding, pressed Jin Ran to explain the full story of his time in Japan.
