Ten Years Late Episode 15 Recap
> Ten Years Late Recap
Upon Zhao Chengzhi's discharge from the hospital, Shen Shuangshuang meticulously helped him return home, assisting him with every step, changing his shoes, and guiding him to the sofa. Zhao Chengzhi found her excessive care stifling, joking that he wasn't suffering from Parkinson's or senile dementia. Soon, several delivery people arrived, bringing a large number of Shen Shuangshuang's belongings, including many dolls, which quickly filled the apartment.
Zhao Chengzhi questioned her presence, to which she replied she was there to provide care. One delivery person even commented on Zhao Chengzhi's unkindness to his girlfriend. Later, Shen Shuangshuang sent Zhao Chengzhi to watch cartoons while she cooked. In the bathroom, she had a brief internal struggle, determined to win him over that night, despite questioning if her efforts were in vain as he didn't seem to reciprocate her feelings. She decided to go for it.
At dinner, Zhao Chengzhi told her to eat and go home, but Shen Shuangshuang, now in seductive pajamas, declared they were celebrating his hospital discharge. She repeatedly pressured him into drinking wine, making toasts to his recovery, career, and their relationship, until he became completely drunk. The next morning, Zhao Chengzhi awoke to find himself naked in bed with Shen Shuangshuang, much to his shock.
During a walk, Zhao Chengzhi tried to delicately discuss their physical intimacy, suggesting that as adults, it was a natural occurrence. However, Shen Shuangshuang deliberately misinterpreted his words as a marriage proposal and joyfully accepted, excitedly detailing her visions for their future, leaving Zhao Chengzhi feeling helpless. He also noticed her recent cravings for sour foods and frequent dry heaving, leading him to suspect she might be pregnant.
Meanwhile, the filming crew on Peixin Island encountered problems when local fishermen stopped the shoot. Producer Li Jing was furious, accusing Feitu of unprofessionalism and demanding they resolve the issue immediately. Yuan Lai tried to negotiate with the fishermen, offering money, but after receiving a phone call, their leader hardened his stance, refusing payment and insisting they leave. Jin Ran instructed Yuan Lai to appease Li Jing while he stayed to prevent further disruptions.
Instead, Yuan Lai secretly followed the main fisherman and witnessed him meeting with Xiaoliu, the translator, capturing photos as evidence. Jin Ran soon found her, scolding her for taking such risks alone, revealing he had already suspected Xiaoliu's involvement. Armed with the proof, Jin Ran and Yuan Lai confronted Xiaoliu.
Xiaoliu initially claimed he was merely leveraging his local connections to assist the company, but Jin Ran pointed out his suspicious calm during the incident and reminded him of his involvement in a previous lighting malfunction. Xiaoliu eventually confessed that Lisa had instructed him to sabotage the project. Concurrently, Lisa arrived on Peixin Island, assigned by Mr. Ji to assist with the production. She attempted to introduce herself to Li Jing at the hotel but was coldly rebuffed.
Yuan Lai then confronted Lisa, who denied any wrongdoing and accused Yuan Lai of being an unsupportive friend who took all the good projects. Jin Ran stepped in and played a recording of Lisa instructing Xiaoliu to disrupt the filming. Lisa was left speechless. Jin Ran ordered her to leave Peixin Island immediately and warned that her employment would be reviewed by Human Resources upon his return. He then cautioned Yuan Lai that in business, only interests matter, not friendships.
Xinyi's presentation of her revised proposal to Mr. Zhao was a failure. He criticized her plan for targeting high-end consumers as impractical and a complete deviation from his company's strategy for smaller markets. Expressing profound disappointment, he decided to terminate their contract. Xinyi desperately pleaded for another chance, offering to revise the proposal overnight.
Mr. Zhao dismissed her offer, stating that such extensive revisions, including market and data analysis, would take far longer than a single night, and even implied her previous success was due to social manipulation rather than merit. As Mr. Zhao prepared to leave, Xinyi clutched his arm, begging him not to cancel. Ding Ang, witnessing the scene, impulsively pushed Mr. Zhao away in anger.
This act further enraged Mr. Zhao, who harshly criticized Xinyi's poor judgment in men and definitively ended their cooperation before departing. Mortified, Xinyi lashed out at Ding Ang for his interference. Ding Ang, heartbroken by her humiliation, suggested she quit her "humble job" and become a full-time housewife, offering to provide her with a luxurious life. Xinyi was furious, explaining that her work was her life's ambition and he completely failed to understand her.
She stressed that her goal was to achieve her ideals and earn respect, a value forged from a painful memory. She recalled how, after her parents' deaths, she visited her aunt in Shanghai, only to be offered charity money and subtle dismissals of her self-reliance. Xinyi, feeling her aunt looked down on her, refused the money and vowed to succeed independently to gain others' respect. Overwhelmed, Xinyi asked Ding Ang for space to cool down.
Distraught, Ding Ang sought advice from Zhao Chengzhi at a bar. Zhao Chengzhi, acting as a longtime friend, bluntly called Ding Ang a "tyrant" and an "idiot." He explained that Xinyi, like Jin Ran, was one of their most diligent friends, valuing her self-worth and dignity above all. By dismissing her work, Ding Ang invalidated her value and imposed his own views, leading to their mutual unhappiness. This made Ding Ang realize his mistake.
With newfound understanding, Ding Ang went to find Mr. Zhao after his business dinner. Mr. Zhao was initially hostile, reminding Ding Ang of his earlier arrogant behavior and refusing to waste his time. Ding Ang sincerely apologized for his impulsiveness and earnestly pleaded with Mr. Zhao to reconsider Xinyi's project, highlighting her tireless dedication and urging him not to let personal matters cloud his judgment of her professional capabilities. Mr. Zhao remained critical, even questioning Xinyi's choice in a partner.
Ding Ang insisted that professional work and personal life were separate. As Mr. Zhao was about to enter his car, Ding Ang performed a deep, 90-degree bow, humbling himself publicly. Passersby recognized Ding Ang as an e-sports champion, commenting on his public display. Later, Mr. Zhao reflected on Ding Ang's sincerity and sense of responsibility. He called Xinyi, agreeing to continue their collaboration and extending her deadline for the revised proposal to the following month.
He also subtly complimented Ding Ang, stating that Xinyi "didn't choose the wrong person." Xinyi soon noticed Ding Ang secretly following her. After initially feigning indifference, she called him out. Ding Ang offered a heartfelt apology, promising to respect her work, her life choices, and her dreams, even playfully suggesting they add a clause to their future agreement about it. Xinyi, touched but still teasing him about his "naivety," forgave him. Soon after, Xinyi began experiencing nausea.
She secretly bought a pregnancy test, sending Ding Ang out to buy candles for their dinner to keep him from discovering it. The test confirmed her pregnancy. That evening, Ding Ang prepared a romantic candlelight dinner, complete with steaks and ice cream, but Xinyi found she had no appetite. Unaware of the true reason for her discomfort, Ding Ang, despite his usual attentiveness and knowledge of her menstrual cycle, failed to notice anything amiss.
