Song of the Moon Episode 22 Recap
> Song of the Moon Recap
After Luo Ge brought Liu Shao back from the nightmare, Zhuo Qiuxian strictly adhered to the Immortal Palace's regulations. She declared that Liu Shao, as an important criminal, must endure three thunderbolts to leave Litian Temple, regardless of her innocence. Luo Ning protested Liu Shao's weakened state, but Zhuo Qiuxian maintained that the punishment was sanctioned because Luo Ge had previously agreed to it, and rules could not be broken.
Luo Ge, acknowledging his fault in Liu Shao's predicament, offered to take the three thunderbolts himself. He inquired about Liu Shao's fate after his punishment, and Zhuo Qiuxian agreed that Liu Shao would then be at his disposal, with no interference from the three palaces. Luo Ge accepted, sealed his spiritual power, and endured the thunderbolts, declaring he would share Liu Shao's punishment. He then carried Liu Shao out, promising to uncover the truth behind Immortal Master's assassination.
Liu Shao, disoriented, initially resisted, believing Luo Ge's assurances of protection were a dream, but Luo Ge affirmed his commitment, revealing he was Lu Li and would always trust and protect her, never letting her go again. After Luo Ge departed, Zhuo Qiuxian's stern demeanor softened into one of exhaustion as she spoke with Shang Yurong.
Shang Yurong noted her harshness, even her insistence on Liu Shao's punishment, but understood that as the master of Palace Wuxie, Zhuo Qiuxian was bound by rigid rules for herself and others. Zhuo Qiuxian admitted she had been deliberately targeting Luo Ge and others, a burden she carried to protect Shang Yurong and fulfill his late father's dying wish, as she felt he was not yet strong enough and had been ridiculed.
Shang Yurong realized Zhuo Qiuxian's self-sacrificing efforts, and Zhuo Qiuxian confessed her weariness of merely being his "senior," while Shang Yurong expressed his desire for a deeper relationship, no longer wanting to be just her "junior brother." To save Fu, Luo Ning used her own blood to activate the Bone-Corroding Harp, an ancient healing halidom.
As Fu recovered, Luo Ning wondered if the immortal energy within her belonged to Immortal Ze Shui, who had died in the demonic realm, explaining Luo Ge's overprotective nature. Fu, now awake, dismissed the concept of predetermined fate and gently tended to Luo Ning's hand wound, noting the harp’s limitation in healing his own injuries due to her focus on him.
Luo Ning, flustered, asked about the harp's future, and Fu decided to return it to Palace of Abyssal Mirrors, pretending nothing had occurred. Luo Ning resolved to secretly protect Luo Ge in return for his care, just as she wished to protect Fu and let him remain carefree. Suddenly, a magical restriction on Fu lifted, prompting Luo Ning to ask if this signified Luo Ge and Liu Shao's safety.
Immortal Master, convinced that Luo Ge was bewitched by Liu Shao and protecting a murderer, vehemently rejected Luo Ge’s medicinal offerings, vowing to uncover the truth himself. Meanwhile, the Soul-Devouring Spell unexpectedly afflicted Luo Ge. Unable to reveal his weakened state to Luo Ning, he spoke to her through a closed door, urging her to continue her studies and assuring her that he was fine.
After she left, Luo Ge examined the spreading runes on his arm, the manifestation of the Soul-Devouring Spell. He had believed his devotion to cultivation had purged Lu Li's emotions, but the reappearance of the curse, which had plagued Lu Li until his death, made him realize that Lu Li's deep feelings had indeed persisted within him.
Wansui brought Liu Shao a special soup upon her awakening, revealing that Luo Ge had gone to Litian Temple and endured three thunderbolts to secure her return. Touched by his sacrifice and realizing his feelings, Liu Shao rushed to Luo Ge's side, expressing her worry despite their conflicting spiritual powers. She offered him the Weirui Grass she had cultivated, convinced he needed its healing properties more than she did due to his ordeal.
Luo Ge, though grateful, insisted she remain in Palace Chonghua until the Immortal Master's assassination was fully investigated, reassuring her that the conflict of their powers was not as severe as she feared. Liu Shao agreed to stay, determined to prove her innocence and validate Luo Ge’s trust.
She proposed acting as bait to expose the true culprit, but Luo Ge firmly rejected the dangerous idea, stating the enemy was now alerted and that he would handle the investigation himself, as the perpetrator clearly harbored intense hatred for her. Luo Ge gave Liu Shao the Wang Bell, explaining its connection to his Moon Bell, which would sense any danger she faced and monitor her actions.
He advised her to be cautious with her words and to keep the bell close, merging her aura with it. Later, Wansui brought Liu Shao her packed belongings, indicating she would be staying in Palace Chonghua. Although Liu Shao initially thought she'd sleep on the floor, Wansui presented her with a mandarin duck quilt, hinting at a deeper, unspoken implication.
Separately, Wansui reassured Luo Ning about Luo Ge’s well-being and urged her to remind Liu Shao to care for him, playfully threatening to "take her brother back" if Luo Ge was ever unhappy or unwell. Liu Shao brought a lotus lamp to Luo Ge's room, explaining it could calm nerves and repel insects, even though Luo Ge pointed out such earthly concerns didn't exist in the Immortal Palace.
She playfully argued with his logic, asking why he read at night or why the moon existed if everything followed natural cycles. She then shared a childhood memory of her mother placing a lamp outside their home every night, a beacon for her late-returning father, signifying someone awaited him.
Liu Shao revealed her intention to light the lamp for Luo Ge so he wouldn't feel lonely, expressing her hope that he would achieve divine perfection and that people would experience more reunions. By the river, Bai Feng observed the death anniversary of her master, Lu Sheng, acknowledging his role in raising both her and Lu Li.
Fu appeared, mocking her by saying Lu Li had never considered her his closest person, and now that Lu Li had transformed into Luo Ge, she held even less significance in his heart. Unfazed, Bai Feng defiantly declared she would ensure Luo Ge could never leave her, even if it meant turning him into a mere walking dead.
Later, as Liu Shao slept, Luo Ge secretly infused the Wang Bell with his spiritual power, instructing it to prioritize Liu Shao's protection if they both faced danger, stating that her safety was paramount to his own. As he did so, the Soul-Devouring Spell fiercely afflicted him, causing him to cough up blood, staining the mandarin duck quilt and foreshadowing his dire fate.
To identify the true culprit, Luo Ge suggested that the person who attacked Immortal Master also possessed Liu Shao's Radiant Spirit Fragments and knew her well. Liu Shao immediately suspected Bai Feng but questioned her capabilities. Luo Ge agreed that Bai Feng was likely manipulated by a more powerful individual, the same mastermind Xie Lingqi had refused to expose even under torture in the Bone Melting Pool.
Meanwhile, Xie Lingqi, enduring torment in the Bone Melting Pool, managed to communicate with Fu, reminding him of his silence and questioning why he was left to suffer. Fu assured Xie Lingqi he needed time to deal with the powerful Immortal Luo Ge. Xie Lingqi then revealed he held Ao Hen's son, Ao Yin, who possessed immense demon power cultivated by Ao Hen over a thousand years.
Fu recognized Ao Yin's strategic value, believing he could become a powerful asset, and instructed Xie Lingqi to wait for rescue once he had handled his current affairs. Xie Lingqi desperately pleaded for release, stating that someone was waiting for him. To test Bai Feng, Luo Ge instructed her to collect flowers and place them near the Xuan Ling Wood, claiming they would remove Liu Shao's scent from his quarters.
He mentioned that the potent wood required the flowers to be wrapped in spiritual power to prevent them from burning. Bai Feng, sensing a trap, deliberately avoided using her own spiritual power, resulting in the flowers being singed. Later, Fu revealed to Bai Feng that she had miscalculated.
While Bai Feng thought she had successfully concealed her demon-infused spiritual power from the Xuan Ling Wood, Fu explained that the wood was nourished by Luo Ge's own spiritual power, manifested as dew on its leaves. When Bai Feng approached the tree, Luo Ge's spiritual energy subtly transferred onto her, allowing him to extract her power without her knowledge, thus confirming his suspicion that she was the perpetrator. Fu concluded that Luo Ge was not testing her, but collecting definitive evidence.
