Song of the Moon Episode 1 Recap
> Song of the Moon Recap
As Liu Shao came of age, she recalled her encounter with a mysterious immortal at eight years old. In exchange for her fate, he gave her three days of wonder, showing her the world's marvels before leaving a magical seal on her brow with the promise of a potential reunion in ten years. On her eighteenth birthday, Liu Shao eagerly awaited the immortal’s return.
Her parents, who had confined her at home due to her tendency to attract demons, finally promised her freedom after the celebration. As the family gathered, the seal on Liu Shao's forehead suddenly erupted with a mysterious light, summoning dark clouds and the formidable Demon King, Ao Hen. Ao Hen repelled lesser demons, initially fooling Liu Shao’s parents into thanking him, but Liu Shao recognized his true nature.
The Demon King declared his intention to seize Liu Shao's power for his son. Liu Shao bravely defied him, asserting that her destiny was to see the world, not to be cut short. At that moment, the demon hunter Lu Li descended to challenge Ao Hen. Empowered by a formation secretly placed by his master, Lu Sheng, Lu Li managed to overwhelm and defeat the Demon King.
Having expended immense spiritual power, Lu Li collapsed from exhaustion, allowing the wounded Ao Hen to escape. After the ordeal, news of the mysterious light at the Liu residence reached the Mansion of Wu Yang, the leading human cultivation sect. The Marquis of Wuyang dispatched his eldest disciple, Du Mingchong, to investigate and, if necessary, bring Liu Shao back for her protection.
After Liu Shao left his room, Lu Li, who had been feigning unconsciousness, got up and marveled at his master’s foresight. Lu Sheng explained that Ao Hen would not give up easily and instructed Lu Li to acquire another essential item to protect Liu Shao, ordering him to depart without saying goodbye. Shortly after, Du Mingchong arrived at the Liu residence with an arrogant air, blaming Liu Shao for attracting the demon.
Angered by his condescending attitude, Liu Shao retorted that the blame lay with the attacker, not the victim. When Du Mingchong scoffed at her ability to enter the prestigious Mansion, she defiantly declared that she would pass their recruitment exam on her own merit. Convinced that Lu Li was the immortal from her childhood, Liu Shao sought him out and found him at Moon River, running a "catch the moon" business.
She boarded his raft and subtly questioned him about immortals, but Lu Li dismissed them as beings from a distant realm. He then dove into the river, resurfacing completely dry thanks to a spell, and retrieved a giant clam containing exquisite pearls. He fashioned them into a Lake Bracelet, explaining it was formed from the eye of a Lake Demon who sacrificed it for her children. Captivated, Liu Shao purchased the bracelet for five thousand taels.
Lu Li warned her never to remove it, as it could ward off evil spirits. That night, the bracelet proved its worth by repelling an unseen evil presence, solidifying Liu Shao's belief in Lu Li's extraordinary nature. Meanwhile, Lu Li reported to Lu Sheng that he had delivered the bracelet. He mentioned using the payment from Liu Shao to buy medicine for his master's cough, earning Lu Sheng's disapproval for his profiteering.
Lu Sheng revealed that he had prepared the bracelet for a decade to shield Liu Shao's awakening spiritual power from demons. As punishment for his scheme, Lu Sheng ordered Lu Li to clear out demons in the back mountains. The next day, Liu Shao found Lu Li and offered him a large sum of money to accompany her to the Mansion of Wu Yang.
Lu Li tried to haggle for a higher price, citing the dangers of the job and his master's health, but Lu Sheng intervened and readily agreed to Liu Shao's proposal, ordering Lu Li to escort her the next day without complaint. It was revealed that Ao Hen's son, Ao Yin, had been gravely wounded and reverted to an infant state years ago following an attack by immortal sects.
Ao Hen’s pursuit of Liu Shao was driven by his desire to use her spiritual energy to heal his son. Learning of her plan to go to the Mansion of Wu Yang, he commanded his minions to intercept and capture her. Before departing, Lu Li prepared pear soup for his master. Lu Sheng then revealed a crucial secret: the Moon-Embracing Sword, which holds the key to Lu Li's true origins, was kept within the Mansion of Wu Yang.
He stressed that Liu Shao was the only one who could unsheathe it, making her protection Lu Li’s most critical mission. Frustrated by Lu Li's delay, Liu Shao set off for the Mansion alone. Unbeknownst to her, Lu Li followed secretly, protecting her from the demons that lurked on her path. Upon reaching the bustling entrance of the Mansion, Liu Shao was rudely bumped into by an arrogant girl named A'Xi. Before she could react, a friendly, stout young man named Wang Jian introduced himself, while Lu Li watched over them from a distance.
