Adapted from Yi Ren Kui Kui's novel "Jin Wu Bu Jin, Chang Ye Bu Ming (金吾不禁，长夜未明)", the drama follows Shen Qingwu, a young lady who breaks with her family to pursue marital freedom, later joining the military and rising to become a female general. With shared ideals, she teams up with Zhang Xingjian, a noble-born civil official devoted to the people, to quell rebellions, eradicate bandits, and confront corrupt ministers.

Synopsis
Shen Qingwu, stubborn and resolute since childhood, clashed with her family over her insistence on marrying Zhang Xingjian, leading to her imprisonment and abuse. After escaping, she joined the military camp through a twist of fate.
Civil official Zhang Xingjian, born into an aristocratic family yet deeply concerned for the common people, reunites with her during bandit suppression and rebellion quelling.
Facing court conspiracies and enemy invasion, the two set aside their factional differences to join forces against the enemy. Ultimately, their military achievements shattered the aristocratic monopoly on marriage alliances.
