Ordinary Glory Episode 37 Recap
> Ordinary Glory Recap
Sun Yiqiu introduced Lin Yuming to Director Liu, explaining that Lin Yu Ming would now be taking over the project. Director Liu, the project founder, expressed confusion about Sun Yiqiu's sudden withdrawal but accepted his decision, telling Sun that he would always be welcome back if he chose to return. Meanwhile, Manager Li offered Wu Kezhi a highly anticipated Rihuan Biotech project, a rapidly growing company in the genomics industry on the verge of an IPO.
Wu Kezhi was suspicious, questioning why such a lucrative opportunity would fall to Team IV. Manager Li clarified that Director Qu had personally invested in the project years ago and specifically instructed that Wu Kezhi handle it. Despite Manager Li's assurances that it could become a "unicorn" in a few years, Wu Kezhi sensed a hidden motive and rejected it, stating Team IV was "not good enough" to deserve it.
Manager Li urged him to reconsider, expressing his desire to see Wu Kezhi achieve something significant. Yin Shengchao invited Hao Shuai to lunch and unexpectedly asked him to visit Mofan Fashion's factory to communicate with the agitated workers. Hao Shuai was reluctant, pointing out that Chief Su had assigned this task to Yin Shengchao. However, Yin Shengchao promised Hao Shuai a project of his own if he could handle the situation. Hao Shuai, feeling pressured, reluctantly agreed.
At the factory, Hao Shuai sincerely told the workers that King Capital was also a victim and advised them to stop coming to the company. He admitted that any compensation would be minimal and catching the runaway boss depended on fate. The workers were skeptical, claiming Yin Shengchao was fully aware of the situation and was "buddies" with the company's founder, Zhou, meeting him often and implying Yin Shengchao helped Zhou escape.
This information surprised Hao Shuai, as Yin Shengchao had previously claimed he hadn't seen Zhou in half a year. The workers agreed to temporarily stop coming to King Capital's office but warned Hao Shuai that this was not the end. In the Energy Division, Manager Ma's new offshore wind power project was rejected by the Risk Control Centre for not being "feasible enough."
His team suggested using Lan Qianyi's Qiancheng Solar project as a replacement, which had already received Risk Control approval. Simultaneously, Yu Wenli was struggling with a hectic work-life balance, arguing with her husband over the phone about childcare for their daughter, Xiao Xiao, while he was on a work trip. She discussed her urgent infant incubator project with Wu Kezhi, mentioning her personal struggles. As she prepared for a meeting, Yu Wenli suddenly fainted from exhaustion.
Meanwhile, Lin Yuming's project was progressing smoothly. Sun Yiqiu, upon hearing this, felt a little depressed and went to the rooftop. He pondered why he was feeling upset when withdrawing from the project was his own decision, and what there was to be unable to accept. Lan Qianyi noticed Manager Ma repeatedly checking on her team. Her colleagues, Chief Xu and Manager Zhao, alluded to Manager Ma's difficulty in directly asking for a favor.
When Manager Ma arrived again and found Lan Qianyi briefly absent, he became agitated with Chief Xu. Lan Qianyi quickly returned with her Qiancheng Solar project report and proactively asked Manager Ma to give her a chance to work on the project. After reviewing the report, Manager Ma, without explicitly approving it, told Chief Xu to take the team out for a celebratory meal, implicitly giving Lan Qianyi the green light.
The team was overjoyed and praised Lan Qianyi for her quick thinking. Yu Wenli was hospitalized due to neurasthenia and exhaustion, but her mind remained on the infant incubator project. Her subordinates visited her, feigning concern while subtly pressing her to finalize the project report. Yu Wenli explained the project's importance for premature babies and entrusted it to them.
Wu Kezhi also visited her, reassuring her that she would recover with rest and that her husband was arranging family care for Xiao Xiao and would return soon. Yu Wenli contemplated resigning, feeling like a failure to her boss, subordinates, husband, and child, believing everyone thought she wasn't doing enough. She suspected her subordinates only visited to push her to abandon the project.
As Wu Kezhi left, he overheard her subordinates complaining about the project being too much work and not lucrative, wishing Yu Wenli would just go home and be a housewife. They even tried to persuade Wu Kezhi to talk Yu Wenli out of the project, which saddened him. Back at the office, Hao Shuai cautiously asked Yin Shengchao if he was friends with Mofan Fashion's founder, Zhou.
Yin Shengchao reacted angrily, accusing Hao Shuai of implying his involvement, and dismissed him. Later, Wu Kezhi discovered that the project report submitted by Yu Wenli's subordinates for the infant incubator project was intentionally flawed, seemingly designed to ensure its rejection. He informed Jiang Nan and Gao Sicong, expressing his disappointment that their hard work would be in vain. With the submission deadline looming and Jiang Nan scheduled for a work trip, the project seemed doomed.
Wu Kezhi decided to take matters into his own hands, calling Jiang Nan to "wait for his call" and then taking the project to Team IV, telling Sun Yiqiu it was "time to work." Wu Kezhi, Sun Yiqiu, Lan Qianyi, Gao Sicong, and Hao Shuai worked through the night on the infant incubator project. Sun Yiqiu, confidently declaring himself an "expert" at meeting minutes, struggled with an English audio recording and sheepishly sought Lan Qianyi's help.
The team meticulously revised the report, discussing technical solutions, financial planning, and social impact. Gao Sicong identified and corrected a data error. Lan Qianyi remarked on Wu Kezhi's exceptional dedication to Yu Wenli, noting their strong bond as batchmates who joined the company together. Hao Shuai once again voiced his suspicions about Yin Shengchao's connection to the Mofan Fashion scandal.
Gao Sicong sternly warned Hao Shuai to stay out of it, reminding him of Yin Shengchao's past retaliation and that he was "no match" for him. Lan Qianyi agreed with Gao Sicong's advice. As their late-night work continued, Wu Kezhi asked Sun Yiqiu "how long more," referring to the time left on his contract. Sun Yiqiu thanked Wu Kezhi for giving him one last opportunity to work overtime and create more memories with the team.
Wu Kezhi expressed regret, feeling he had done all he could. Sun Yiqiu, however, reassured him, acknowledging Wu Kezhi's efforts and expressing pride in all he had learned and achieved during his year in Team IV, feeling that he had become a "good project" himself. He light-heartedly declared that if he was a good project, then Wu Kezhi was "the best investment consultant ever" with commendable vision, adding that it was "about time to leave."
The next morning, Wu Kezhi brought the revised project plan to Yu Wenli in the hospital. She was deeply grateful but also saddened by the state of her life, admitting she had considered giving up. Reading the report, however, rekindled her fighting spirit. Wu Kezhi then showed her a photo of Sun Yiqiu and the others sleeping on the office floor, reminding her of their own tireless dedication when they first joined the company.
Yu Wenli reflected on their shared past, wondering if all the years of hard work had truly been "worth it." Later, Wu Kezhi encountered Director Qu and asked him to find a way for Sun Yiqiu to stay at the company. Director Qu stated he couldn't break his own rules without a compelling reason.
However, he mentioned that company personnel allocations were based on the team's project workload, implying that if Team IV secured a project of sufficient size, Sun Yiqiu's departure might be re-evaluated.
