Ordinary Glory Episode 36 Recap
> Ordinary Glory Recap
Sun Yiqiu rushed to meet Shiyan, apologizing for being late. Shiyan was not angry and pulled him along to play claw machines. Sun Yiqiu tried repeatedly to win a specific large-eyed doll for Shiyan, but despite winning many other prizes, he couldn't get the one she wanted. Shiyan noticed his subdued mood and worried about him. He later received a call from Lin Yuming.
Meanwhile, Lin Yuming's blind date was cut short when his date told him she didn't think they were right for each other. Lin Yuming pressed her for a reason, asking if it was his astrological sign or appearance. She explained he was "too nice," revealing that he had spent half their conversation talking about his colleagues: his short-tempered but kind-hearted boss, his boss's two adorable children, and a diligent subordinate, Sun Yiqiu, who was facing problems.
She said while a man who cares for colleagues would care for family, his personality reminded her of her father, who was constantly taken advantage of and given thankless tasks. She admired such people but only wanted them as friends, not as a life partner. Lin Yuming offered to change, but she apologized and left. Sun Yiqiu and Shiyan went to meet Lin Yuming.
Lin Yuming vented his frustrations to them, complaining about being rejected for being "nice" and questioning if it was a flaw. Shiyan tried to comfort him, even joking that he could get all of Sun Yiqiu’s claw machine prizes if he told enough sad dating stories. When Lin Yuming stepped away to take a call, Sun Yiqiu realized Lin Yuming had invited him out because he was worried about Sun Yiqiu's recent project rejection. Sun Yiqiu thanked him.
Lin Yuming downplayed it but then offered some advice: in the corporate world, effort doesn't always guarantee proportionate rewards. He noted that if it did, he, Wu Kezhi, and even Sun Yiqiu wouldn't be where they were today. However, he added that returns aren't just promotions or raises; successfully completing projects, surpassing oneself, and maintaining one's principles in a chaotic environment are also forms of reward.
He concluded by telling Sun Yiqiu that if he had to leave, it couldn't be helped, but Sun Yiqiu would always be a part of Team IV, and "they would always be them." Sun Yiqiu told Shiyan he felt he needed to return to his old life outside of King Capital. Shiyan, though unfamiliar with his job, understood his turmoil.
She encouraged him to leave with his head held high, rather than in defeat, and gave him one of the dolls he had won, telling him to remember her support whenever he faced difficulties. Sun Yiqiu later reflected on their conversation, looking at his project plan. The next morning, Sun Yiqiu sent a message to Lin Yuming requesting a day off, and Wu Kezhi’s attempts to call him went unanswered.
Meanwhile, Manager Yin reassured Chief Su that he would take responsibility for the Mofan Fashion issue and prevent Chief Su from being implicated, to which Chief Su relented. Manager Yin then instructed Hao Shuai to investigate Mofan Fashion's fixed assets. Calls from Mofan Fashion workers kept coming in, but Manager Yin ordered his assistant to hang up, dismissing them as unimportant and blaming their boss for running off with the money.
Elsewhere, Zhou Qingyu proudly announced that one of his subordinates had been selected for an overseas survey. Wu Kezhi was visibly upset, partly because Lin Yuming had also been a candidate for the overseas survey but was overlooked, leaving Wu Kezhi frustrated by his inability to secure such benefits for his subordinates. Zhou Qingyu offered to help with Lin Yuming, but Wu Kezhi confessed his greater concern was for Sun Yiqiu.
After work, Manager Yin was ambushed by angry Mofan Fashion workers. Hao Shuai intervened to help Manager Yin escape and was beaten in his place. Lan Qianyi, arriving just then, quickly helped disinfect his wounds. Hao Shuai expressed sympathy for the workers, seeing them as victims of a scam. Gao Sicong advised him to stay out of it, reiterating Manager Yin's point that the workers' protests wouldn't achieve anything.
Hao Shuai countered, saying that if he remained silent, he would be no different from Manager Yin. Lan Qianyi's shoe heel broke, prompting Gao Sicong to offer to walk her home, but she simply broke the other heel and walked away. Later that evening, at a celebration, Lin Yuming became heavily intoxicated. Manager Yin, noticing his state, taunted him, attributing his sorrow to having an "useless" boss (Wu Kezhi).
Enraged, Lin Yuming lunged at Manager Yin, and a brawl nearly ensued before others intervened. With Lin Yuming completely drunk and no one knowing his address, Jiang Nan and Manager Zhao took him to a hotel. Exhausted, the three collapsed on a bed, reminiscing about their carefree days as trainees when they once slept together like that, working on urgent reports. They noted how now, their concerns had shifted to promotions, money, cars, houses, and providing for their children.
Jiang Nan commented that it was nice to occasionally relax in such a way. The following day, Chief Su furiously confronted Manager Yin after a call from Director Qu, demanding he immediately resolve the Mofan Fashion crisis. Chief Su ordered Manager Yin to personally explain to the workers that their only recourse was a lawsuit and to ensure they never returned to the company premises. Manager Yin reluctantly accepted the task.
Wu Kezhi called Lin Yuming to the rooftop and presented him with a departmental transfer application to the TMT Division, already signed by Li Shensisi. He told Lin Yuming to sign it, stating he "didn't want him anymore" and that Lin Yuming wouldn't succeed under a "failure" like him. Lin Yuming, deeply hurt and angry, tore up the application.
He admitted that everyone, including Wu Kezhi, probably thought he was foolish and a failure for staying in Team IV, especially knowing how many people Wu Kezhi had offended and how few good projects they received. However, he insisted he stayed because he saw Wu Kezhi as a good leader and valued the experience gained in the team far more than any overseas trips or projects.
He asserted that he wrote similar transfer applications weekly when he first joined but chose to stay because of Wu Kezhi, warning that if Wu Kezhi ever changed, he would be the first to leave. Just then, Sun Yiqiu appeared, having learned from Chief Ding where they were. He explained that he had spent the previous day compiling all the project information. Since he wouldn't be leading the project, he was entrusting it to Lin Yuming, whom he fully trusted.
Sun Yiqiu declared that he had come to terms with the situation and, even if it was his last day at King Capital, he would remain focused and complete his final work, refusing to be an embarrassment to Team IV.
