Lan Qianyi messaged Sun Yiqiu, asking to meet, so they went for coffee. As working hours were ending, Sun Yiqiu prepared to return to the office. Lan Qianyi, in a hushed tone, revealed the password to the Energy Division’s file cabinet: 3338, 0325. Sun Yiqiu immediately understood that the supplementary agreement was indeed with their team, and he questioned why they had been so confident in denying it.
Lan Qianyi explained that they were taking advantage of Chief Wu Kezhi having no one to support him, blaming him for everything as a matter of corporate survival, and that people like Chief Wu tended to get bullied in the corporate world. Sun Yiqiu worried about how this action would affect Lan Qianyi’s standing within her team. Lan Qianyi admitted she didn’t know what the future held, but she was certain she would regret it if she didn't act now.
Meanwhile, Lin Yuming expressed concern that Wu Kezhi's apology letter to Manager Ma Jian Guo might be used against him, even offering to write it himself. Wu Kezhi, however, was dismissive, telling Lin Yuming to focus on their work and test the drone. Upon returning to her team with drinks, a colleague questioned Lan Qianyi, asking if she had met someone she shouldn't have. Lan Qianyi retorted that if they doubted her, they shouldn't send her to buy drinks.
Sun Yiqiu later informed Yu Wenli that he had successfully taken her daughter, Xiao Xiao, home. Yu Wenli, seeing a photo of Xiao Xiao sleeping cuddled with her clothes, felt a pang of tenderness and, uncharacteristically, left work early to be with her daughter. That evening, Sun Yiqiu quietly made his way to the Energy Division and opened the file cabinet. Before he could retrieve the supplementary agreement, Manager Xu Taiping appeared and caught him red-handed.
Manager Xu immediately accused Sun Yiqiu of trying to frame his team, claiming that Wu Kezhi had instructed him to plant the agreement inside. Just then, Wu Kezhi emerged, holding the very supplementary agreement Manager Xu had been looking for. Manager Xu was dumbfounded. Wu Kezhi led Manager Xu to the rooftop. Manager Xu quickly tried to explain that he never intended to escalate the situation, but Wu Kezhi had publicly humiliated him, making him lose face.
Wu Kezhi sternly warned Manager Xu never to bring up Ma Xiyuan again and tossed the supplementary agreement to him, instructing him to tell Manager Ma Jian Guo that he had found it himself. Manager Xu looked resigned. Afterward, Wu Kezhi took Sun Yiqiu out for drinks. Sun Yiqiu was eager to know how Wu Kezhi had obtained the agreement, but Wu Kezhi refused to tell him, even joking that he wouldn't reveal it even if drunk.
Separately, Lan Qianyi was also having a drink with Gao Sicong. It was revealed that Gao Sicong was the one who had given Wu Kezhi the supplementary agreement, a fact that surprised Lan Qianyi. Gao Sicong explained that he did it because he feared Lan Qianyi would escalate the matter, perhaps even resigning, if she tried to handle it herself.
He advised her to feign ignorance if questioned the next day, but Lan Qianyi asserted that she would handle her own problems. The next morning, Wu Kezhi was in the kitchen, preparing breakfast for his wife and two sons. His wife was astonished, remarking that he rarely cooked.
After breakfast, Wu Kezhi personally drove his children to school, and his wife observed that it had been a long time since she had seen him so happy on his way to work. Sun Yiqiu, who had taken Wu Kezhi home the previous night, had accidentally left his jacket at Wu Kezhi’s house. Wu Kezhi discovered several English flashcards inside the jacket, indicating Sun Yiqiu's continuous effort to learn.
Manager Xu Taiping nervously delivered the supplementary agreement to Manager Ma Jian Guo's office. At the same time, Wu Kezhi's "apology letter" was circulated. It was a scathingly sarcastic letter that, under the guise of an apology, publicly criticized Manager Xu Taiping and Manager Ma Jian Guo. Manager Ma was enraged. Lin Yuming was utterly flabbergasted by the letter and declared that he wanted to write his resignation immediately, intending to leave with Sun Yiqiu the next day.
In the Energy Division, Manager Ma Jian Guo furiously demanded to know who had given the supplementary agreement to Wu Kezhi, his accusations directly aimed at Lan Qianyi. He then issued an order forbidding anyone from his team to have direct contact with Team IV. Manager Zhao later warned Lan Qianyi not to provoke Manager Ma again, before instructing her to get Manager Ma’s signature on documents for the Hong'an Biotech project.
Lan Qianyi entered Manager Ma's office, where he expressed his displeasure with her, warning that he could easily dismiss her as he had brought her in. He also insinuated that she relied on her "sex appeal" to advance in King Capital, and told her to get lost. Lan Qianyi left his office, furious and on the verge of tears, and found herself crying in the stairwell.
Yu Wenli, who was on the phone discussing arrangements to pick up her child, happened upon Lan Qianyi. Yu Wenli comforted her, advising her to analyze Manager Ma’s true motives and to resist his attempts to make her give in. Manager Ma Jian Guo went to Director Qu, demanding that Wu Kezhi be fired.
Director Qu, however, advised Manager Ma to act with more discretion, reminding him that Wu Kezhi's actions were backed by facts and that Manager Ma himself needed to learn from the situation and avoid creating unnecessary trouble. Meanwhile, Gao Sicong's professional life remained stagnant. Despite putting a lot of effort into a project plan for Bayer Tech, his manager dismissed it, stating it wasn't an assigned task.
His only assigned work continued to be the tedious task of transferring data into the computer. Back in Team IV, the drone project finally received approval. Wu Kezhi, Lin Yuming, and Sun Yiqiu were ecstatic. They visited the TMT Division, bringing coffee to express their gratitude, acknowledging Yu Wenli's crucial role in the project's success.
Wu Kezhi then went to Manager Wang for the final signature, instructing Lin Yuming and Sun Yiqiu to promptly prepare the investment agreement for the drone project, declaring that from now on, no one could look down on Team IV. Manager Wang, burdened by the difficult Fanhua Culture case, asked Wu Kezhi to meet its founder. Manager Wang offered the project to Team IV if Wu Kezhi could successfully secure the deal.
Wu Kezhi reluctantly accepted the materials, knowing Fanhua Culture was a highly contested and challenging project, a "hot potato." Hao Shuai soon appeared, jokingly offering himself as a "volunteer" for Team IV. He then offered unsolicited advice about Fanhua Culture, explaining that its founder had made money from selling intellectual property, but the company's net worth was low.
He described it as a strategic investment to enter the film industry, a "thankless job" where Team II would benefit from success, and Team IV would be blamed for failure. Sun Yiqiu impatiently dismissed Hao Shuai. However, upon receiving the project materials and seeing the founder's name, Jiao Yaohua, Wu Kezhi broke into a smile. Jiao Yaohua was his middle school classmate, whose grades were terrible, but who was good at basketball and often copied Wu Kezhi's homework.
Wu Kezhi also recognized Jiao Chun He, listed as the Finance Director. Wu Kezhi instructed his team to set up a meeting with them as soon as possible. Lan Qianyi continued to face harassment from Manager Xu Taiping and Manager Zhao. During a meeting, Manager Xu criticized her slide for using outdated data.
Lan Qianyi calmly stated she compiled the data based on Manager Zhao's information and offered an updated version she had prepared, asking for clarification on which version to use in the future, and if she needed to prepare two versions at all times. Later, Manager Zhao confronted Lan Qianyi, criticizing her for being overly clever and for not informing him about the data issue, claiming she had embarrassed him publicly.
Lan Qianyi retorted that she "had" informed him, but he told her to proceed as she saw fit. Manager Zhao then furiously threw documents on the floor, ordering Lan Qianyi to pick them up. Sun Yiqiu immediately stepped forward to help Lan Qianyi, which only further angered Manager Zhao, who yelled at Sun Yiqiu to mind his own business.
