Nan Qiao's father summoned Shi Yue, dropping a dossier containing Shi Yue's past and information about An Jie onto the table. He questioned Shi Yue, asking if he was unwilling or simply ashamed to speak about his past. Meanwhile, Nan Qiao waited anxiously in the living room. Shi Yue had been in the room with her father for a long time, and she was worried, expressing her concern about Nan Qin's serious demeanor earlier.
Nan Qin reassured Nan Qiao of her trust in Nan Qiao's judgment and her support. However, Nan Qin revealed that their father had contacted his old war comrades to investigate Shi Yue's background and his activities over the past few years. Startled, Nan Qiao rushed into the room, intending to explain the contents of the documents to her father.
Nan Qiao's father, however, angrily retorted that while Nan Qiao might be able to explain, he could not explain to everyone else. Nan Qiao insisted she did not care what others thought and refused to explain anything to them, stating that a few documents did not define a person and that he couldn't dismiss Shi Yue without understanding the full story. Her father countered that Shi Yue's hesitation to speak about his past proved he felt unworthy of her.
Nan Qiao fiercely asked if her father truly believed Shi Yue was unworthy of her, or merely unworthy of his status as Commander Nan. Enraged, her father slapped Nan Qiao across the face and stormed out of the room. Shi Yue followed Nan Qiao's father. He began to recount his past, explaining that seven years ago he was expelled from Blue Sky Edge.
At the same time, his father, burdened with gambling debts, was beaten to death by loan sharks, leaving Shi Yue to live in the shadow of those debts. He said the police helped him, and he, in turn, assisted the police in breaking up his "Big Brother's" drug ring. Shi Yue admitted that his past was like a swamp, and he was reluctant to recall those terrible experiences.
However, he emphasized that despite the dirtiness of the swamp, he never lost his conscience. He concluded by asserting that even though he never had the chance to become a soldier, he never abandoned a soldier's persistence. Nan Qiao's father angrily dismissed his words, claiming only Nan Qiao would be deceived by him. Shi Yue calmly stated that he had never spoken of these matters to Nan Qiao because she always told him to focus on the future.
Because of her belief in him, he felt compelled to give her a happy future. He respectfully informed Nan Qiao's father that he would wait for him to willingly entrust his daughter to him, before turning and standing in a perfect military posture in the yard. Shi Yue stood rigidly in the yard for a long time, while Nan Qiao's father watched him from a window.
Nan Qin approached her father, trying to appeal to his emotions by reminding him that he and their mother also came from different backgrounds but shared a lifelong loving marriage. Nan Qiao's father remained silent for a moment before leaving the window. He then found Nan Qiao and instructed her to call Shi Yue inside, also telling her to give him some of his own clothes to change into. Shi Yue's persistence had won him over.
Later that night, Shi Yue drove Nan Qiao home. Nan Qiao apologized to Shi Yue for the day's events and firmly declared that she would never separate from him. They clasped hands, their relationship deepening into a sweet and loving romance. Sometime later, An Jie returned to China with her subordinates. She revealed that Zhao Yuqing had been threatening her, compelling her return.
She planned to complete one last public transaction before going back to the US to confront Zhao Yuqing definitively. An Jie, looking melancholic, recalled her "Big Brother" once warning her that the person she saved might one day become her enemy. She remembered asking Shi Yue the same question, but he had not answered. With tears in her eyes, she expressed that she should not have returned but felt she had no choice.
She resolved to leave after this transaction and never come back, as she did not want to become Shi Yue's enemy. Later, Shi Yue, Nan Qiao, and Xiao Kui went to an outdoor location to test their new Hunter search and rescue drone. During the test, Nan Qiao asked Shi Yue why he had changed his name. Shi Yue explained that Shi Junqing represented perfection, while Shi Yue was imperfect. Nan Qiao responded that she liked the name Shi Yue.
The drone performed successfully in its initial tests, but Nan Qiao wanted to test its limits further. Shi Yue proposed a bet: if the drone landed within one meter of its takeoff point, he would answer Nan Qiao's question about whether he would ever change back to Shi Junqing. The drone successfully landed just 98 centimeters from its takeoff point.
Winning the bet, Shi Yue confessed that he had no intention of changing back to Shi Junqing, adding that since Nan Qiao liked the name Shi Yue, he would remain Shi Yue. Suddenly, a phone call came in from the factory, complaining that their continuous requests for overtime were causing unrest among the laborers.
Nan Qiao decided that Shi Yue, who understood the technology, and Xiao Kui, who was good at negotiation, should go to the factory together to resolve the issue. Shi Yue agreed, leaving Nan Qiao to finish the drone's tests independently. Unbeknownst to them, An Jie, along with Tai Ge and her other men, had changed their transaction location and arrived at an abandoned factory in the same vicinity for a deal.
As the transaction proceeded, Nan Qiao's Hunter drone, continuing its advanced testing, flew overhead, capturing the entire exchange on its camera. The dealers soon spotted the drone. Nan Qiao attempted to retrieve it, but Tai Ge quickly drew a gun and shot it down. Tai Ge retrieved the damaged drone, immediately realizing that their activities had been recorded. He ordered his men to search the area for the drone's operator. Nan Qiao, having witnessed the drone being shot down and realizing the danger, hurriedly began packing her equipment to escape but was quickly pursued and captured.
