Only Side by Side with You Episode 28 Recap
> Only Side by Side with You Recap
As Shi Yue was in a meeting at Wings, negotiating with CEO Qiu from VIV, Old Qin, Xiao An, and Xiao Kui burst into the conference room. Xiao An immediately accused everyone present of being "society scum." Old Qin fiercely condemned Shi Yue, stating he first captivated Nan Qiao, then took Future Up's money, and ultimately sabotaged their partnership with VIV by destroying the company's data. They collectively branded Shi Yue a "bandit," "dreg," and "shameless."
An Ning quickly escorted CEO Qiu to an adjacent room. Under An Ning's watchful eye, Shi Yue harshly confronted Old Qin and his companions, pushing Old Qin and then grabbing Xiao Kui by the throat. Nan Qiao, having rushed to Wings after receiving news of the disturbance, arrived and tried to defuse the situation, telling her team to leave as it was a matter between her and Shi Yue. Xiao An retorted that it was a company matter.
Nan Qiao then revealed to Old Qin's group that Chang Jianxiong had stolen Shi Yue's dissertation, admitting they owed Shi Yue and that she could understand whatever he did to Future Up. Shi Yue responded by angrily declaring that they had all stepped on his shoulders to achieve their current success. He then turned to Nan Qiao, questioning why she brought her team to cause trouble, asking if she thought his revenge was insufficient.
When Nan Qiao insisted she didn't believe he could be so ruthless because it was him, Shi Yue, seeing An Ning observing them, brutally shattered Nan Qiao's hopes. He claimed that everything between them—the island honeymoon, becoming a Future Up shareholder, and their intimate night—were merely "trophies" in his elaborate revenge against Chang Jianxiong. He warned that Wings would utterly destroy Future Up's products and plans after VIV. Heartbroken, Nan Qiao silently left with Old Qin and his team.
Later, Shi Yue sat alone in his office, lost in sorrow as he recalled An Ning's intense gaze and Nan Qiao's recent near-accident. An Ning entered, noting that while he was a "business elite" to her, Nan Qiao now saw him as a "playboy that fooled her feelings." Shi Yue defiantly stated he was an "evil person that plays with other people's feelings to begin with," asking if she was afraid before walking away.
An Ning, visibly distressed, clutched her head. Back at Future Up, Old Qin, Xiao An, and Xiao Kui expressed regret for their outburst at Wings. Old Qin admitted his intention was to help Nan Qiao vent, not to cause such an "explosive" revelation. Xiao An pointed out that Chang Jianxiong was the one who wronged Shi Yue first. Old Qin, however, argued that Shi Yue should not have used Nan Qiao to vent his anger.
Xiao An mused that if she had suffered such a devastating experience, she would never fall in love again. Meanwhile, Nan Qiao was calmly testing VR goggles. She commented that the realistic feel of the goggles was beautiful and that if Wings could develop VIV's product well, it would be beneficial. She believed having another competitor and more people understanding drones was a good thing.
Xiao An angrily countered that Wings was relentlessly pursuing them, urging Nan Qiao not to side with outsiders because of a man. Wen Di intervened, reminding everyone to focus on resolving the company's problems and giving Nan Qiao time to deal with Shi Yue personally. Nan Qiao affirmed that she would not let her personal issues become the company's burden and urged everyone to focus on their work.
That evening, An Ning visited Shi Yue at the Sober Dream bar, where he was already half-drunk. He playfully pulled her to sit, and she attempted to return some asset documents he had left at her place. Shi Yue, however, ignored her, instead mixing and downing several cocktails he had named, ironically, "Hypocrite" and "Dream's Ashes," symbolizing his own deceptive nature and the end of a dream.
An Ning left the documents, telling him that since his dream had turned to ashes, she would welcome him back more readily. She then left. Elsewhere, Wen Di and Ouyang Qi tried to distract Nan Qiao at an arcade. Wen Di furiously played Whack-a-Mole, prompting Ouyang Qi to joke that Wen Di was about to steal Nan Qiao's old "Mole Queen" title.
Encouraged, Nan Qiao picked up a plastic hammer and began vigorously whacking the moles, finally releasing some of her pent-up emotions. The three women eventually shared a laugh, finding joy in the game. The next morning, Hao Jie was rolling around in Shi Yue's bed, mumbling Ouyang Qi's name and begging her not to leave, before falling out of bed.
He claimed Shi Yue, in his drunken sleep, had also called out Nan Qiao's name, begging her not to leave, and even claimed to have recorded it. Shi Yue snatched Hao Jie's phone and deleted the recording. Shi Yue advised Hao Jie that while he himself was inextricably linked to Wings and An Ning, Hao Jie could still distance himself and make Ouyang Qi believe he had merely fallen in with bad company.
Hao Jie disagreed, arguing that such an action would only make Ouyang Qi see him as disloyal and opportunistic, and that his best course of action was to lie low. Suddenly, Hao Jie received a call from a TV station inviting Shi Yue for an interview about drones. Shi Yue initially declined, but his interest was piqued when he learned that Nan Qiao would also be invited.
He surmised that Nan Qiao was sending a message, wanting to declare war on him. At Future Up, Nan Qiao's employees tried to dissuade her from attending the TV interview, fearing it was a "trap" and would be detrimental to their struggling company. They expressed concern for her emotional well-being, especially facing Shi Yue. Nan Qiao, however, remained resolute, questioning why they were afraid of media exposure when Wen Di had previously advocated for it.
She confidently asserted her ability to make a comeback, refusing to let them undermine her at such a critical moment. Wen Di, seeing Nan Qiao's determination, ultimately supported her decision to attend. Shi Yue then went to see An Ning, but her subordinate blocked his entry. An Ning, speaking from inside, instructed her subordinate to handle all Wings' business requests without her direct involvement, as long as they were within company principles.
She clarified that Shi Yue wanted to define their relationship as strictly professional, which was not what she desired. She stated her intention to wait for him to approach her as "Shi Yue" rather than the CEO of Wings, believing that giving a "rebellious child" freedom was the best way to induce guilt. Shi Yue handed the interview program materials to An Ning's subordinate.
Hao Jie worried An Ning would object to the interview, but Shi Yue confidently stated that she would agree, as she would never miss an opportunity to publicly undermine Nan Qiao. As Shi Yue and Hao Jie headed to the parking lot, they found Shi Yue's car splattered with mud. They soon realized it was Nan Qin's young son, who was being reprimanded by his mother.
The boy proudly declared he was performing a "chivalrous act" to teach "annoying people a lesson." Nan Qin, however, advised him to confront people directly if he wished to teach them a lesson, rather than acting covertly. Taking in the scene, Shi Yue told Hao Jie that he needed to continue the deception, to let Nan Qiao have no retreat.
He believed she had burdened herself with Future Up and the hopes of many, and that her hatred and desire for vengeance against him, fueled by everyone, would become her source of energy to succeed. Hao Jie, witnessing Shi Yue's resolve, admitted that the ruse was so real, even he couldn't entirely convince himself it was just a scam.
Shi Yue also understood that An Ning wasn't interested in the CEO of Wings but desired him to lower his pride and "amuse her," a demand he felt unable to meet. At the TV studio, Hao Jie was caught by Wen Di trying to discreetly photograph Ouyang Qi. Wen Di snatched his phone, angrily accusing him of still trying to scheme against Ouyang Qi after what he and Shi Yue had done to Nan Qiao.
Ouyang Qi calmly took her phone back, dismissing it as "all in the past." In the makeup room, Shi Yue and Nan Qiao finally came face-to-face. Nan Qiao asserted that with his ideals and desire for revenge, Shi Yue had indeed found a better path by leaving Future Up. Shi Yue jokingly asked if she was jealous.
Nan Qiao calmly replied that while Future Up might lack Wings' substantial capital, they had built their company step by step, steadily reaching their current position, and they didn't need to envy anyone else's path. Just then, An Ning entered the makeup room.
