Only Side by Side with You Episode 15 Recap
> Only Side by Side with You Recap
Shi Yue found Nan Qiao and her nephew, Zheng Hao, out shopping and invited them back to his place for a meal he would prepare. Zheng Hao, upon arriving at Shi Yue’s apartment, immediately observed Shi Yue’s good physique, love for sports, and passion for life, noting that he raised three dogs named Tongbi, Yinbi, and Jinbi, which indicated a fun-loving personality.
He also saw Shi Yue carrying fresh ingredients, implying he knew how to cook, and even buying Zheng Hao's favorite yogurt, suggesting Shi Yue valued quality of life. Zheng Hao concluded that Shi Yue appeared to be a perfect, single man. However, Zheng Hao’s attitude quickly shifted as he initiated a "man-to-man" conversation with Shi Yue. He brazenly questioned Shi Yue’s intentions with Nan Qiao, claiming that Nan Qiao had "three respectable deities" protecting her and wouldn't be easily courted.
When Shi Yue clarified that Zheng Hao and Nan Qiao were the ones who came to his house, Zheng Hao retorted that eating was a small matter compared to love. Shi Yue announced he would make spicy chicken, prompting Zheng Hao to request less pepper and suggest crispy fried fish and hot and sour soup instead, emphasizing that eating was a "major matter."
Zheng Hao then challenged Shi Yue’s hygiene, refusing to get him wet tissues after Shi Yue had walked his dogs. Frustrated, Zheng Hao declared that Shi Yue would never be with his aunt, even if he cooked a banquet. Later, Zheng Hao complained to Nan Qiao that she couldn’t "wrangle" Shi Yue, criticizing Shi Yue's good looks as a sign of being easily unfaithful and his dog-raising as an excuse for not spending time with Nan Qiao.
He even mocked Shi Yue’s cooking skills, calling it a sign of having no career. However, his opinion took a dramatic turn when he discovered a rare, limited-edition Storm Freerun single-lens reflex camera, a revered item in the parkour world. Overjoyed, Zheng Hao began calling Shi Yue "Brother Shi" and showered him with praise, calling him "perfect" in every aspect.
Shi Yue, amused, offered Zheng Hao the camera, which Zheng Hao enthusiastically accepted, vowing to support Shi Yue in his pursuit of Nan Qiao and even offering to help "subdue" his aunt if needed. Shi Yue then suggested they play a "higher stake" parkour game. After dinner, Shi Yue and Nan Qiao headed to a subway station, where Shi Yue proposed a challenge: he would race the subway train.
He confidently told Nan Qiao that after two stops, she would see him first when she exited subway car 7. The subway train’s set speed was 70 kilometers per hour, decreasing at stations, with one stop in between. As Nan Qiao boarded the train, Shi Yue unleashed his parkour skills, effortlessly maneuvering through urban obstacles, with a drone capturing his every move. Just as Nan Qiao stepped off the train, a breathless Shi Yue arrived, true to his word.
Zheng Hao, who had followed them, was ecstatic, hailing Shi Yue as his "man-god" and urging Nan Qiao to kiss him. He revealed he had promised "Deity Shi" a kiss from Nan Qiao on his behalf if he won. Nan Qiao, embarrassed, told Zheng Hao to resolve his own promises and playfully ran off, leaving Shi Yue to collapse happily in the station.
That night, Nan Qiao watched the video of Shi Yue’s race, recalling their past interactions, and found herself deeply moved. The next morning, Shi Yue’s subway race video had gone viral, making him an instant celebrity. Inspired by the feat, Nan Qiao proposed a groundbreaking idea at Future Up: to seamlessly integrate virtual reality (VR) goggles with drones, allowing users to experience a drone's field of view in real-time, 360-degree 3D.
She explained that this "beyond visual range" concept, directly inspired by Shi Yue’s race, could revolutionize aerial photography and search and rescue. Her employees were enthusiastic, envisioning drones becoming devices that could "overlook the whole world." Later, while discussing the idea with Shi Yue, Hao Jie, and Ouyang Qi, a group of fangirls swarmed Shi Yue, asking for photos and autographs.
Shi Yue, putting on sunglasses, comically asked Hao Jie, his "assistant," to manage the autograph requests, which made Nan Qiao laugh. Just then, a celebrity named Lu Zhou, a regular at Ouyang Qi’s shop and close friend of Nan Qiao, arrived and invited Ouyang Qi for coffee, sparking a hint of jealousy in Hao Jie, who had to be reminded by Ouyang Qi who Lu Zhou was, as he claimed to only know William Chan among celebrities.
On their way home, Nan Qiao sincerely thanked Shi Yue for the inspiration. She explained that his race gave her the idea of merging VR with drones, envisioning a future where she could watch every detail of his parkour runs in real time through VR goggles. Shi Yue remarked that she wouldn't want to miss a single moment.
A deep connection formed between them, culminating in a heartfelt embrace, during which Shi Yue quietly asked if she was truly ready, acknowledging that "loving without restraints won't be easy" for her. After the embrace, as Shi Yue lay on a couch, Nan Qiao playfully suggested that getting more blood flow to his brain might help him understand many things. Meanwhile, Chang Jianxiong, troubled by Nan Qiao's previous remark calling him "family," sought advice from his father.
His father, initially mocking Chang Jianxiong for actively visiting, explained that being called "family" in the context of friendship meant closeness, but in love, it meant "no chances at all." Relieved, Chang Jianxiong declared he didn't want to be Nan Qiao's family.
His father, pleased, then pulled out a sandbox, outlining a "track map" for courting Nan Qiao with stages like "creating chance encounters," "saving a damsel in distress," and "playing hard to get," explaining that an expert could achieve these through small details. Chang Jianxiong rejected the idea of using tricks, insisting Nan Qiao was too smart to fall for them.
His father countered that "there is no smart woman when it comes to love" and reminded him of Blue Sky Edge's slogan: "If the goal is not attained, don't give up." Inspired by his father’s counsel, Chang Jianxiong sought out Zheng Hao to inquire about Shi Yue’s subway race.
Zheng Hao, after a brief attempt to extort a new cellphone for information, vividly recounted Shi Yue’s impressive run—his form, muscles, and gaze—praising him as "so manly" and mentioning that even his classmates were asking for Shi Yue's autograph. This detailed praise infuriated Chang Jianxiong, who drove away in a huff. He recalled Wen Di's past advice, which had compared his cautious nature to Shi Yue’s boldness in love, urging him to "sound the horn and fight."
Chang Jianxiong later found Nan Qiao at a science museum, where she was enthusiastically explaining exhibits to a group of children, introducing herself as "Teacher Nan Qiao." She was describing an artwork called "Second Breath" and then led the children in a game involving a "glass mountain" with words that would form a fairy tale. Chang Jianxiong watched with a smile, playfully acknowledging her "contributions to human society" beyond drones.
When a child snatched a small box from him, mistaking its contents for a toy, Chang Jianxiong quickly retrieved it. Inside was a bullet, a memento from their first meeting. He handed it to Nan Qiao, reminding her, "Our relationship started with that bullet," and declared this gesture his "determination to return to the old Chang Jianxiong."
He then impressed Nan Qiao with his knowledge of metallic glass, explaining how it could be the strongest material, not brittle or transparent, and could revolutionize drone technology by reducing weight, increasing shock resistance, and lowering costs for widespread adoption. Chang Jianxiong then confessed to Nan Qiao that he wanted to "end our past relationship and start a new adventure" with her. Nan Qiao, however, preferred to believe the bullet was a "protection amulet" against "monsters, demons, and ghosts."
Chang Jianxiong immediately retorted that it was "a protection amulet to let Shi Yue stay farther away from you." Nan Qiao smiled, noting that he hadn't changed, still hostile towards any man around her, and asked if he should have questioned her about Shi Yue's viral video, as it was in his character to investigate "all the men appearing by my side."
Meanwhile, Shi Yue received a phone call from An Jie, who told him he was famous and that she would be returning in a few days to cheer him on. Shi Yue, however, was troubled by the call, recalling Chang Jianxiong's earlier taunts that he was merely a bar owner with ambiguous relationships, while Nan Qiao was a "piece of white paper," implying they were not from the same world.
