The story begins with "Ye Zhao" presenting a divorce letter to "Zhao Yujin", who is ecstatic, believing he will finally be free. Although the divorce is set for three years later, "Zhao Yujin" sees it as a short wait. Unknown to him, this is "Ye Zhao's" strategic "attack the heart" maneuver. " Zhao Yujin" eagerly shares the good news with "Zhao Taifei", who is also delighted at the prospect of her "wild daughter-in-law" leaving.
Their conversation is overheard by "Cui Zhi", "Zhao Taifei's" attendant, who quickly informs "Yang Shi", a concubine and "Cui Zhi's" hometown friend. " Yang Shi", along with fellow concubines "Mei Niang" and "Xuan Er", are terrified by the news. " Ye Zhao" has been a generous principal wife, showering them with gifts and treating them well, unlike the "fierce" main wife they feared. "
Xuan Er" is especially against the divorce as "Ye Zhao" helped her brother get promoted in the army. The three concubines scheme to prevent the divorce, surrounding "Ye Zhao", praising "Zhao Yujin", and even teaching her how to "seduce" him and become a "true woman." Feeling overwhelmed, "Ye Zhao" seizes the opportunity to escape when "Qiu Hua" arrives with urgent business. Meanwhile, "Zhao Yujin" visits Lao Gao's lamb restaurant, only to find it in ruins.
Lao Gao and his family are distraught, explaining that his son, "Xiao Ma Que", was tricked into gambling and lost 150 taels to "Lu Zhenting", the owner of Yongsheng Casino. " Lu Zhenting", who has long coveted Lao Gao's secret lamb recipe, trashed the shop when Lao Gao couldn't pay, demanding the recipe as compensation. Feigning indifference, "Zhao Yujin" merely orders some lamb before heading to Yongsheng Casino. He cleverly outwits "Lu Zhenting", winning 1,000 taels in the first round.
Enraged and egged on by bystanders, "Lu Zhenting" continues playing, losing thousands more, eventually owing 9,000 taels. As "Lu Zhenting" tries to make an excuse and leave, "Zhao Yujin" subtly warns him about imperial relatives being forbidden from engaging in business. Just then, "Ye Zhao" bursts in with the Ye Family Army, kicking "Lu Zhenting" back into the casino.
She declares that if her husband wants to gamble, he should do so thoroughly, ordering "Qiu Shui" and "Qiu Hua" to escort "Lu Zhenting" back to the table. Forced to continue, "Lu Zhenting" watches in disbelief as "Zhao Yujin", seemingly possessing a special ability, wins round after round. By the end, "Lu Zhenting" owes a staggering 129,000 taels, having practically lost the entire casino. He hands over 9,000 taels in banknotes and writes an IOU for the remaining 120,000. "
Ye Zhao", not easily fooled, instructs "Qiu Shui" and "Qiu Hua" to search the casino, though they only find some low-value antiques and paintings. Feeling vindicated, "Zhao Yujin" departs contentedly, leaving a furious "Lu Zhenting" to worry about his powerful boss. Outside, "Zhao Yujin" dispatches "Xiao Xia Zi" to Lao Gao with 2,000 taels.
He secretly instructs "Xiao Xia Zi" to discreetly give the money and to intentionally trash Lao Gao's shop again, claiming "Zhao Yujin" had diarrhea from the lamb, and to tell Lao Gao to leave the capital for his own safety. This reveals "Zhao Yujin's" hidden concern and his true intention to help Lao Gao despite his initial facade. Finally, "Ye Zhao" demands her "hard work fee" from "Zhao Yujin". He refuses and enters his sedan. Undeterred, "Ye Zhao" climbs into the sedan after him, and the two bicker noisily inside.
